IPod to iMac  Transfer of Songs

PROBLEM: I want to transfer all the songs on my iPod to my iMac Computer. It states that you can't do this unless you originally created a folder on the iPod and placed the songs in the folder. Is there any way to work around this so I can put the songs back on my computer.
MY STORY: I had a new iMac on which I downloaded almost 3000 songs and then loaded them on my iPod. Ironically, I just bought an external hard drive to put music on, as I didn't want to use up the drive space on my iMac and I was not aware I couldn't transfer music the other way, i.e. only from the computer to the iPod. And then, my iMac died. Apple replaced my iMac since it was under warranty. Now I'm in a jam, so if anyone can be of assistance I would really appreciate it.

Bill hello,
welcome to the Apple Discussions check iPod access 3.5 they tell me it works well although I have had no cause to use it myself...
take care Bill ... TP

  • IPod Will not Transfer all Songs to iTunes

The iPod would only transfer some songs to iTunes when I pressed the tranfer purchases button. I lost alot of songs that I can't get back. This is very frustrating!!! Any help?

so then technically I can't transfer the songs off my ipod to my itunes library?  since it is one 1 transfer from pc to ipod...correct?  So when I synch my ipod the warning screen comes up and says "there are content not in the library, erase and synch library to Itunes, only purchased songs can transfer."   Can I leave the songs on my ipod and when I purchase new songs to itunes I can still transfer those correct?  while having the others on there that wont transfer?

  • My iPod will not Transfer my songs!

I recently replaced my old iPod with a 20 gig color and it won't transfer any songs! I plug it in and it will not do anything! It just turns it on! Someone! HELP! I'm dieing without my music!

Just to make sure I'm attacking the right problem here, let me quickly reiterate what I think is the situation. Please tell me if I'm misunderstanding:
    1) Your iPod is on Automatic sync mode (either playlist or all files in library, and either checked or all files transfer).
    2) You have at least one file that you see in iTunes (in the playlist if you're using it) and checked that you don't see when trying to use the iPod.
    3) If you look at the iPod in iTunes, said song shows up.
Is this all correct? Are ratings and playcounts updating correctly? Assuming you're only syncing checked files, what if you uncheck it and sync? Does it vanish from the iPod as seen by iTunes? What if you then re-check it and sync again? Does it re-appear? Does it show up on the iPod menus then?
If you've done any of these steps, feel free to just give me the answers...I just don't remember seeing.
What it's beginning to sound like to me is that transferring the files to the iPod is working fine, but the iPod's database may be corrupted, in which case, you'd need to restore, which I know you're hesitant to do.

  • Ipod does not transfer all songs from itunes

I have the 80g ipod classic. I have 16,000 songs on itunes. when i go to setting on ipod and go to about it shows that i am missing 13 songs. for a while i was missing 5 songs then 9 songs and now 13.yes i still have room on my ipod for music. I do not have a clue what songs are not being transferred to my ipod. what is causing this and what is the solution.

yea i guess that could be possable. i guess with 16,000 songs and only 13 did not transfer to ipod i should be happy but this is mac not windows so i would like to think the soft ware would work without flaws.. as for all my dupes i put over 1500 cds in my itunes library. a lot of the cds were various artists etc. that is y i have so many dupes. my imac has a 500g hard drive so i have plenty of space left on my hard drive. i have 2 external hard drives where my music is backed up.i have a 1terrabit lacie that i just use for time machine and a 500g lacie to back up my music and other stuff. iwould never trust my music to be backed up on only 1 external hard drive. if it died my music would be gone forever. thats y i use 2 external hard drives

  • Missing music, iPod won't transfer certain songs.

I just recently recovered my computer from a hard disk wipe and I was able to get all my purchased songs from the iTunes store off the iPod, but I'm still missing a good 900+ songs that were added by me through other means. If there a way to get all of these songs off the iPod and back on to the library on my computer?

The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there is a manual method of accessing the iPod's hard drive and copying songs back to iTunes on Windows. The procedure is a bit involved and it won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's posted in this thread: MacMuse - iPod to iTunes
If you prefer something more automated then there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. This is just a selection, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. Have a look at the web pages and documentation, they are generally quite straightforward. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

  • My iPod won't transfer all of my songs to my Library

Just downloaded iTunes on a Lenovo w530, windows 7 laptop; previously had iTunes on an iMac (2006). The iMac is broken and won't start, but I synced my entire iTunes library to my iPod (gen2).
I have already authorized the computer and signed in with my apple account.
So, when I transfer my purchases from my iPod to the laptop, it will transfer all the songs/apps/etc to the new iTunes, but it will leave most of my songs behind. Yes, I have noticed that the songs it left behind weren't purchased directly from iTunes. The other songs were either synced from CDs (e.g. Linkin Park's Living Things CD doesn't show up in new library) or purchased from other online sites. Is there a way to  either sync these songs as well or to manually transfer them to my library?
If nothing else work's i'll just have to download all the songs from the CDs again...
[Also, IDK if this helps, but I'm not used to using windows at all, so there may be some strange simple thing that I'm not doing correctly, so even the simplest tip could be helpful!]
Any help would be wonderful, thanks.

That article tells me how to "transfer my purchases", which I've already done; it doesn't tell me how to transfer the songs that don't transfer with the "transfer my purchases" option.
You didn't check on the "media recovery software" section at the end of the Tip, which covers non-purchases?

  • Need help to transfer itunes songs from older ipod to newer ipod

I have an older ipod (one of the first generations!?) that I have downloaded songs from itunes years ago; however, those songs are not in my itune library. I now have a 3rd generation nano 8GB that I would like to put these songs on. I have tried downloading them to my laptop and then transferring into library. The songs will transfer into itunes library, but I can't get them to transfer onto the ipod. I transfer manually (don't sync songs)because I also have two sons that also have ipod nano and shuffle. When I click and drag the song from my library to the desired folder on my ipod it tells me that my computer isn't authorized. I have authorized the computer repeatedly and I still get the same message! I noticed the songs are protected and wonder...does that have anything to do with not being able to transfer?
The songs were originally purchased on itunes store several years ago. I don't know why the 30 to 40 songs I have on the original ipod are NOT in the library, but I would really like them to be on my new ipod. (I have 200 plus songs that are on both ipods/library.) Can anyone help me? I feel I have tried everything and getting extremely frustrated! Are these songs a lost cause?

  • My iPod / iTunes wont transfer songs and freezes

Right quick lowdown... Got iPod classic 160gb last Summer. Transferred all music onto it eventually and it worked perfectly until a few months ago. It randomly crashed when sync'ing one time and then was unable to function properly without crashing thereafter. I sent it back, there was a fault and i got a replacement just the other day.
So tried sync'ing my new iPod. Sync'd like hundred songs or so then stopped with (-69) error coming up. Tried Sync'ing again and it added some more songs then got same error message. Kept trying and then eventually it wiped all songs off iPod that it had sync'ed before. Everytime i try to sync it comes up with a random error message (-53) (-48) (-49) (-120) etc. Lost track of all the errors it's given me.
I have since tried manually transferring songs and some go on without a problem, whereas others cos iTunes and my iPod to freeze. I then get a message saying iTunes is not responding and when i safely remove my iPod it sometimes scrubs everything that was on it, sometimes it doesn't
I read somewhere else i could have corrupt files preventing me from being able to transfer and Sync. The fact is i didn't have trouble before (i used first ipod for months with no problems) and recently been using an old ipod mini while i sorted out my broken classic and it has worked fine with no problems. I've been updating iTunes every time the updates come available.
Can anybody provide any help??? Why has my iPod all of a sudden refused to transfer some songs? Is it likely that corrupt songs are somehow now preventing me from transferring tracks or is there something wrong with this iPod too? Or could there be another fault?
    Thanks in advance

  • My iPod won't transfer all of my songs in my library to my iPod

Recently my computer's hard drive crashed and I lost everything on my computer. After I got that fixed, I connected my iPod and transfered my music from it back into my iTunes music library. After I transfered the music I realized I forgot to reinstall the iPod software, so I did so. But now when I try to update my iPod not all of the songs in my library will transfer onto my iPod. Most of the ones that won't are ones that I have bought from the music store. The error message is "Some of the songs in the iTunes music library, including the song Candy Shop, were not copied to the iPod because you are not authorized to play them on this computer." Please help
