Ipod to Mac

Hi Guys,
I am sure this has been asked before but I cant find it. There are instructions on the apple support pages on how to transfer music from the Ipod to a mac, but this involves using the old computer. My old computer died so I don't have it anymore.
How do I get my music files from my Ipod (windows format) to my new MacBookPro?
Please help, as everyone else I have to much music to redo.
Cheers.

Try Senuti or iPodRip or similar application.
You can find the latest versions on versiontracker.com (search for the name or for "iPod").
If your iPod was set to automatically update, you could loose the contents (I'm not sure about that). The next is from the Keyboard Shortcuts in the iTunes Help:
iPod shortcuts
Prevent iPod from automatically updating when you connect it to your computer
Command-Option as you connect the iPod to your computer (hold the keys down until the iPod appears in the iTunes Source list)
Hope this helps.
Edit: Just noticed this question was answered, after posting my reply.

  • How do I change my Ipod from mac to windows format??

How do I change my Ipod from mac to windows format?? My Imac is not working at the moment, but I want to use my Ipod on my PC. How do I get my Ipod(mac formated) to get work on my PC??

Use iTunes on the PC to restore the iPod, or install XPlay on the PC without changing the format. Restoring the iPod will erase everything on it.

  • How do I find iPod's MAC and the encryption level used to login?

I have a wireless network with WEP security Wireless Encryption Level 128 bit and also Wireless Network Access activated.
I need to add the MAC of the iPod. How do you get the iPod's MAC?
Also how do I know iPod is using 128 bits instead 64bits in the encryption level?
    Does anybody know this?
I cannot connect to the network I disabled the Wireless Network Access and still cannot login, the password is correct and I am thinking that the iPod is using 64 bit with WEP which is totally useless when you have a network already configured.
    I will appreciate your help.

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
    You'll find the +iPod touch's+ MAC address in Settings > General > About > Wi-Fi Address.
The +iPod touch+ will use 128/40bit WEP depending on what you have the router set to.
Are you entering the password in the correct case? You may need to put $ infront of your password.

  • Even with ipod rip, trouble transferring music from Win-IPOD to Mac-Itunes

New Macbook (recent convert). Windows formatted IPOD. Bought IPOD-Rip. Plugged in ipod holding down Apple+Option so no accidents. Said IPOD RIP didn't recognize any music on IPOD, but did I want to do "hard recover" Yes. So--it then transferred entire contents of IPOD to Mac desktop. There it sits in all its glory. But my Mac Itunes doesn't recognize it, I THINK because it is Windows formatting. How do I get these songs into my Mac Itunes? While transfers are commonly discussed here, I don't think I've seen this particular problem?

Thanks so much! Seems to have basically worked. But didn't import the playlists...I'm sort of assuming that given everything else peculiar to my situation, that there's nothing I can do about that?

  • Where do I find notes synced from my iPod to Mac ?

Where do I find notes synced from my iPod to Mac ?
I sync via iCloud, everything is up to date except I am running OS X Maverick, I have checked in Mail in my iCloud account: nothing there / checked in the Notes application on the Mac: nothing there. Notes are syncing in the iCloud system preference panel but are nowhere to be found...

Photos in the iPhone's Camera Roll are not included with the iTunes sync process except for being included with the iPhone's backup which is updated at the first step during the iTunes sync process if the iPhone was being backed up with iTunes on your computer.
Photos/videos in the iPhone's Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera which is not handled by iTunes.

the disk you inserted was not readable by this computer. (when putting ipod into mac) help,. now have no music on my ipod. how do i sort this out?

    - Verify the file and disk formats on your camcorder and on your friend computer whether they support what you want to do. Also, if you are using a specific application to do the task, you may need to verify an application whether it supports the file format (e.g. MPEG4, Apple Intermediate Codec).
    - Verify the device cable type whether Mac OS X 10.4.x supports.
    - Verify the device compatibility with Mac OS X 10.4.x.
    - Check an available firmware or driver for the camcorder that has developed after Mac OS X 10.4.4.
    - Try diagnosing and repairing local hard disk and camcorder's drive directory.
    - Verify disks permissions issue.
    - Verify whether the disk is TOO warm or cold to read.
    - If every troubleshooting does not solve the issue, consider to reformat the camcorder drive.

  • Ipod with mac and pc

I would like to know how to format my ipod in fat 32 and that it works in both mac and pc.
the format of my ipod is mac os plus with register.

You need to connect the iPod to a Windows PC and run "Restore" from the updater. It will format your iPod but you'll be able to use it with Windows and OSX.

  • I changed my apple id and my password for it too. but on my ipod and mac book pro my old apple id keeps showing up and i it doesn't except any password.  what should i do??

    I NEED HELP!!!!!!
i changed my apple id and my password (for the apple id), but on my ipod and mac book pro my old apple id keeps showing up for icloud, and i cant put either password!!! Trust me i tried..   What should i do????  So please help!!!!!!

On your Mac, go to System Preferences>iCloud, sign out, then sign back in with the ID you want to use.
If you're running iOS 7 on your iPod and old ID is your ID, and if your new ID was created by editing the details of this old ID (rather than being an entirely new ID), go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iPhone on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

  • Formatting 3rd Gen ipod from Mac to Windows

    Hello.
I need to format a 3rd Gen iPod from Mac to windows for my Father in Law.
So please can anyone tell what the process is?
    Many thanks,

The iPod is formatted for both PC and Mac, I used to use mine with a PC, bought a Mac, plugged it in and it worked with the Mac no problem. I'm not sure that this works both ways though, if you're having problems you could try this link for help: http://ipod.about.com/od/restoreandreformatipod/a/ipod_reformat.htmhttp://

  • Convert Windows ipod to mac; Can I go back?

I read the following on Apple's knowledge info.
"You can convert an iPod formatted for Windows into an iPod for Mac by using the iPod for Mac Software Updater on the Apple website. Note that once it is reformatted, it will only work with Macs. You need Mac OS 9.2 or Mac OS X 10.1 or later to reformat an iPod for Windows into an iPod for Mac."
Now my question is if I convert a windows ipod to a mac ipod and then can I go back later and convert it from a mac ipod back to a pc ipod?
Has anyone done it successfully? I understand it isn't officially supported.

If I use my daughter's PC (with iTunes & iPod software) to configure the iPod to be formatted to accept the PC data, I need to "reset" the iPod.
You mean to restore the iPod. Restore and reset are quite different operations.
This will erase everything which is no problem as I have all the music on my Mac and can reinstall - or can I?
    Yes, you can.
When resetting the iPod on the PC does that operation make that PC the "master" and cause the iPod to want to be connected to it for updates of songs?
After you restore the iPod on the PC, it makes the PC the master.
Will that cause the iPod to think my Mac is not its "master" computer?
    Yes, it will.
To use an iPod between these 2 computers and allow the iPod to be readable by both the Mac and the PC, you should restore the iPod using the PC and set the iPod to manual update. Check this: Using iPod with multiple computers

  • OverDrive Media files cannot be used on iPods or Mac computers

Our local library at "'librariesonthego.library.on.ca" offers audiobooks on loan. Regretfully it seems I can't use my iMAC G5 and iPod nano to download & play the audiobooks because the audiobooks use DRM technology from Microsoft which is not compatible with iPods or OS-X. In order to take advantage I must use a PC and I will need to purchase another mobile player device.
The library has posted the following notice:
"+At this time, OverDrive Media files cannot be used on iPods or Mac computers.+
+Our media titles, provided by OverDrive, Inc., use DRM (Digital Rights Management) protection technology from Microsoft Corporation. Unfortunately the iPod (and Mac) currently support neither DRM-protected Windows Media Audio (.wma) files nor Windows Media Video (.wmv) files.+
+OverDrive, along with hundreds of online media providers, is hopeful that Apple and Microsoft can reach an agreement that would enable support for Microsoft-based DRM-protected materials on the iPod/Mac."+
Apple is usually on the forefront of such digital media developments and, it can be argued, it's work in this area is the reason for it's current success. Accordingly it seems a shame that
Am I missing some obvious point or is Apple actually an unwitting barrier to greater and more prevalent uses of it's own hardware and services?
What do others think of this?
    vschaick

Even though Overdrive now has MP3 audio books, you still can't download from the public library (or any library) with your Mac because the MP3 books still require Overdrive Media Console, which runs only on Windows. Overdrive claims that they will be releasing a Mac version of the Media Console sometime this year. I'll believe it when I can run it.
