Ipod to tv  issue

Jeff/anyone, I can't get videos on my New 80g ipod classic to play on my tv. I have the AV composite cable from APPLE and all of my settings are set correctly. I have tried every thing and have even talked to Apple Customer Service. After an hour and fifteen minutes on the phone with them tring different things, they said that it must be a bad cable. I told them this is a brand new cable that was purchsed at the same time as the Ipod. Not only that but it is the second set of BOTH items in three days because I returned them both to the store after I could not get that one(the first Ipod and cable) to play on my Tv and was given a NEW Ipod and cable. This one is not working on my TV neigther. All I get is a message on the Ipod screen saying "TV OUT ENABLED please connect tv accessory". But the cable is already connected. Do you or anyone have any idea what is wrong. PLEASE HELP. If you/anyone have a solution or feed back for this problem, please email me at [email protected] and also please post it because I'm pretty sure that there are others with this problem.
thanks

Have you looked at: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=306639
Not sure if your cable is one of them mentioned in a link in the article above.

  • Help with slightly complicated iPod/iTunes library issue

I have an older iPod with about 80 gig of music and videos on it, all legally acquired through the iTunes store or via my own CD collection.
I would like to transfer the music of this library (which does not match the current contents of my current iPod touch and iTunes library) to my wife's laptop (currently running 10.4.11) so she can access music from it for her iPod nano.
Issue #1: is there a good third-party app. that would allow such a transfer?
Issue #2: there is not enough hard drive space on the laptop to accept an 80 gig library transfer...how could I set that up on an external drive?
Thanks for any help you can give.

Is there a better forum in which I can post this problem?
Or perhaps it has already been answered elsewhere? Could you point me in that direction?
    Thanks...
    Brad

  • Itunes/Iphone/Ipod device driver issues - tried everything. Still not working.

After hours and hours of research, I'm completely stuck. Here's the basic problem.
When I plug in my Iphone to my laptop, windows pulls up a little window that says installing device driver software. After several minutes, the process fails and a message comes up that says windows found drivers for my device, but encountered an error and wasn't able to install them. In the device manager, the iphone is listed as an "other device" with a yellow triangle/exclamation point. Itunes never recognizes the device.
When I plug in my ipod nano 4th generation, the exact same thing happens, except it's listed in the device manager as an ipod. (same yellow triangle though.)
Up until today, both of these devices have been working properly, syncing without trouble. The iphone synced wirelessly and the ipod every time I plugged it in. I can't figure out what on earth happened to my laptop today that messed things up.
It's also worth noting that I have another older ipod nano... second generation, I think, that plugs in and is recognized immediately, works perfectly.
Here is what I've done so far:
    1. I worked through every single troubleshooting guide that Apple has to offer. No change.
    2. I did a complete clean install of itunes and all additional components, rebooted and reinstalled. No change.
    3. I uninstalled/re-installed usb controllers in the device manager. No change.
    4. reset both the phone and the ipod. No change.
    5. I've tried various cables. No change.
    6. I've run system checks and repair utilities for windows vista.
    7. I've used selective start up to see if another program is interfering. I've stood on my head and counted to one hundred. I've only said seventeen swear words.
At this point I've done so much searching and troubleshooting, I can't imagine how anything is going to fix this issue. So this is my last hope. Please oh please be smart enough to tell me what to do...

Not sure if this is significant, but in a weird turn of events, when I tried plugging the ipod in this morning, the little message that pops up to install device driver software actually told me the drivers were installed successfully. However, in the device manager, it still says the drivers are NOT installed properly, the little yellow triangle is still there and the ipod still isn't registering in itunes, or my computer. So. Not really any improvement, but a different symptom none the less?
    I'm desperate, guys. Someone help?

  • Problem with versioning on iPod, backwards compatibility issue with iTunes

i apologize in advance because i'm sure this has been asked time and time again, but i did attempt several searches.
the search function is very muddled and does not narrow down the results very well at all
    here's the situation.
from all accounts i've heard lots of people having issues with version 7 of iTunes.
i'm a simple kinda guy who definitely believes in the age old phrase "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
    so i've stuck with v6.
i recently got a new laptop along with my PC. so i downloaded and installed the latest iTunes without thinking twice.
i had completely forgotten about my concerns from hear say about v7 issues.
i plugged in my iPod and it proceeded to completely erase all of the media on it and then load all media that was on my laptop in place of it.
"well that's a cool new feature", i thought.
after my initial frustration wore off, i immediately uninstalled v7, deleted the .itl file and installed v6.
everything was all fine and dandy. v6 works perfectly on the laptop with no hangups.
    here comes the issue...
i plug in my iPod to begin rebuilding my media onto it after the completely unauthorized deletion, creditted to iTunes v7.
as it autoplays and iTunes v6 opens i'm prompted with this error:
"The iPod [my ipod] cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 7.0 or later.
Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest version of iTunes."
i've attempted everything i can think of to completely erase my iPod of any "versioning".
    - i reset it using the "select/menu" button method
    - i reformatted it through XP disk manager
    - i reformatted it through context menu in my computer explorer window
    - i completely just deleted the "iPod control" directory in the iPod explorer window when clicking through the my computer directory
    i'm at a loss.
i cannot figure out a way to get my iPod to function with iTunes v6.
and again, i'm really hoping to avoid going to v7.
    iPod information:
    2nd generation iPod nano 4GB
thank you in advance for any and all information/advice

I am guessing that you used your iPod enough with iTunes v. 7.x to update the firmware to the latest version. That being the case, reformatting your iPod won't "undo" the firmware update, so your only choice now is to update your iTunes software to v. 7.x.
FWIW, iTunes 7 is a vast improvement over previous versions of iTunes. I use it on both Windows and OS X, and without bugs in both environments.

  • Cannot restore ipod and other issues.

If someone can solve my ipod issues, you will totally make my birthday. Here's the deal. Sometimes when I connect my Ipod to my computer, it sees it as a just a removable disk drive. When that happens, Itunes tells me that my ipod is corrupt. When it tells me I should restore, it then tells me error 1418. I followed the steps on the post on here about that error code and it doesn't work. However, sometimes my computer recognizes my ipod, a message will pop up from memory card manager saying failed ot locate supported file types or there are no photos found on this device. Then my ipod will sync in itunes and start copying files. It says it's copying (which in actuality it's not copying anything or i might get a song or two to copy to my ipod) but then it stops and a message pops up saying, The ipod "Mike's ipod" cannot be synced. The required file cannot be found. I just don't know what to even try anymore. I've looked at so many posts and still nothing works. Please if anyone can help me I'd appreciate it so much!!!

    Hi,
Ok, there seems to be a problem... I've now been running Disk First Aid Erase on my iPod for an hour and a half. So far the blue bar showing progress seems to be stuck on about 5mm in...
Btw... there's been 2 people w probs posting here (I couldn't find the link to make a new post and joined this as it had similar probs)- the original guy has sorted his problem. Mine revolves around an iPod that showed up corrupted when I plugged into my Mac after not using the iPod for a couple of months.
iTunes can't restore it - error sign... As it also now shows up unrecognizable when I plug it into my Mac but with a "you can intialize" possibility I'm trying that as suggested. That takes me to Disk First Aid where pod erase seems to be stuck....
Hope somebody out there can help... thanks!

  • 3rd generation iPod touch syncing issues

The last time I tried to sync my iTunes account through a wired connection between my Macbook Pro and 3rd generation iPod touch, I had some major issues.
First: It deleted the YouTube, iBooks, Netflix, Dropbox, Facebook, and Kindle apps from my iPod and will not let me reinstall them because they are "not compatible with this iPod." This is really annoying.  It means I can never sync my computer with my iPod again.  The only way I can get those apps on my iPod is if I go to the store in the iPod and download each one individually.
Second: Some songs that I have recently acquired will not sync with my iPod because they are not the right format or something.  I never had issues with this before.  This song is in the same format as some songs I aready have on the iPod.
Solutions I have tried:  I tried reinstalling iTunes and it didn't help.  I tried reseting my iPod to factory settings and starting with a "new iPod," twice.  This did not help either.
My Question: Is this an issue because my iPod is out of date and means that I am just SOL or can it be fixed?

The shuffle and iPod touch use different drivers.
    See:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    I would start with:

  • Can't update ipod (windows-mac issue)

My mom got a MacBook on sale so this is now what I use for everything; it is faster and more efficient than the PC that we own. On my iTunes, I can do everything exceptupdate my iPod nano. It simply says "Only Macintosh-formatted iPods can be updated." How do I change my Windows-formatted iPod to a Macintosh-formatted iPod?

Are you sure that there is no way to change the
    format?
I never said there wasn't a way to change the
    format.
To change the format, select it in iTunes on the Mac
    and select Restore.
I am having a similar issue with my daughters ipod nano. It was formatted for windows when we bought it (we have the songs on a mac) but it only downloads some of her library not all. Having looked in some of the forums it suggests restoring however when we plug the ipod into the mac the button for restoring the ipod to factory settings is not highlighted. In this case how can the ipod be restored to a mac setting? We are using the latest itunes software and OSX operating system.

  • IPod Classic: Photos Issue: Photos on iPod Show Black Screen - Replicated!

Issue / My Solution related to format = PC / Windows
*FINALLY! I've replicated the issue where some random pictures in iPod photos show as a thumbnail, DON'T show when clicked with center button (instead a nice friendly black screen is shown) but DO show when you click the center button again to start Slide Show.*
Firstly, I'll start by saying that this was one of 4-5 issues that caused me to go to my local Apple store today & get my SECOND replacement (3rd iPod Classic; Black; 160 GB). It made me laugh when the technicians told me the truth; since Apple never preps even their own people for new products to possibly get trained on so that maybe they're more technically knowledgeable then their consumers when they go on sale, this store's approach has typically been 'Problem with a 6th Generation? Here's a new one'.
It's been a quick & easy way to satisfy customers while getting them no where, but they go home thinking their new unit will work, when in reality it was never a hardware issue.
Anyways, I exchanged 2 x 160 GB & 1 x 80 GB tonight for many of the same reasons, truthfully because I felt I'm due new units after the amount of times I've reimaged (restored) each by restoring all versions of the firmware software.
Many of you have experienced the photo issue I mentioned above before going off on my tangent, many of you may not have (yet).
Well, I'm 1,000% that I replicated this one:
*When restoring one of the iPods replaced, I conveniently noticed that the pictures which showed up blank on my iPod had illegal characters in their Windows Filenames.*
*These characters can include, but are not limited to:*
    *apostrophe ('); comma (,); period (.)*
*Again, the characters above are the only ones I've identified so far; granted that it should not ultimately be like this; the iPod should accept filenames containing these characters & if it can't or it's too hard for it to accept them, iTunes should display a warning to the end user to change the filenames with illegal characters.*
In conclusion, I'm about to unwrap my new 160 GB & sync it. I will avoid & hold off with the 1.0.2 update for as long as possible in hopes that a 1.0.3 comes out soon; especially since the only noticeable difference it made for me was a faster & more responsive & sturdy Cover Flow (don't even use anyways) + shuts off in my JBL Dock at work (replicated as a bug in 1.0.2; workaround: use PLAY, PAUSE & other controls on the unit itself, not with the dock or remote control on the dock.)
I learned my lesson the hard way & will definitely wait a few days until 1.0.3 is released to see how it really is by feedback posted here in this forum. For all you newbies, this is the best advice I can offer; don't bank on 1 or 2 posts, read a bunch. When you start seeing a pattern of problems, you know something can't be right. It's funny how you look at the post history of these updates (1.0.1 & 1.0.2 & you see all those who jumped to install post only the nicest things & the great enhancements they see, until a day later they're hit with the negatives of that build.
_*+--> Truth is,_ I can't believe Apple has gotten away without releasing 1.0.3 by now.+*
*+If this keeps up, I hate to say it, but their ratings will definitely go down the tubes (not being negative, just a realist).+*
    Any thoughts?

    JazzyMac007 wrote:
I don't think it's illegal file names. I've noticed that the file takes a while to "load" even when after you see the thumbnail in the main screen. A few back and forths and hearing the hard drive spinning finally confirmed that it would take a while for the pic to show up...extremely annoying, but a hard drive type issue methinks. Photos that show up once, don't show up again or take forever to do so and vice versa.
Not sure how this affects firmware as I'm not techy (I'm jazzy :)).
I'm going to let all my photos "fully load", and then try it again.
    I tried your method on 3 sixth generations with this issue (2 x 80gb & 1 x 160gb). I let them sit for 12 minutes; no picture.
Changed filename to remove a comma found in the names; then I sync it again & ALL BETTER.

  • Help with iPod mini (Battery issues)

I am an owner of an iPod mini (1st generation) that I bought in February from Amazon. The mini has constant battery issues that have led me to suspect a bad battery within.
For instance; I leave my mini in it's charging cable overnight, and it reports "charged" in the morning. I leave it for the rest of the day in my coat's poket but during my walk home from the bus stop, I find that the mini's battery is completely DISCHARGED and doesn't work at all. I'm sick and tired of having my battery last only a minute before it completely dies on me while walking home.
Can anyone lead me to a source of help? I NEED to get this problem fixed as I don't want to listen yo all my music while having to be hooked up to a cable.

    Edited by an Apple Host
Apple will replace your battery (if its within one year of purchase, no receipt needed, just the SERIAL # on the back of your mini), and you can get repair for FREE, just $32 for shipping and handling, OR you can, if an Apple store is near your home or in your town, take it to them, and get a REPLACEMENT mini on the spot, for FREEEEE!!!
Try those methods, but i HIGHLY suggest you take it to an Apple store first and see their take on the issue!!!

  • 5th Generation iPod Touch Syncing issues

I recently receive a 5th Generation iPod Touch as a gift and I am having issues with it. I plugged the iPod into my Windows 7 PC with iTunes 11.4.0.18 and had issues from the start. First, my iPod would not even sync any media content from my library. So I messed around with the settings until the content was on my iPod. Once, it was on there I went to play a song that I had downloaded and it immediately skipped the song and kept going to the next available song , so I went back on to the forums to see that it could be a corruption on the backup and all you would have to do is restore your iPod and it would fix your issue. I did that got to the same step and a few songs played but most skipped. The album art is there for most of the songs not the music. I then went to iPod>On this iPod to find that every song I had just sync had an exclamation point error by the song. This is only happening on the On this iPod menu the music plays fine on the music menu without an issue. I am curious of what I am doing wrong here? I also read that it could be a much bigger problem in that I would have to delete all my music and re-install it. If that is the case I will deal with the iPod as is. It is not worth my time to spend hours trying to re-install 15+ GB on my PC again.

Verify that all play in iTunes on the computer.
    Then
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Ipod Touch: My Issues, help needed as fast as possible

Well recently i got an Ipod Touch 2nd Generation for christmas, and i must say i love it. But i have got some serious problems. 1) all applications that were not standard on the itouch crash unexpectedly and the only way to rectify this issue is to download something from the app store and they work again :S. Yes that is as bizarre as it sounds. Sometimes it will work fine and i can use any of my apps whenever i like. But frequently(more frequently as time goes on) the applications dont open, i touch them they open the background for the app and they take me back to the main screen. I have tried the following: reseting the iPod, restoring it to factory settings, uninstalling apps and then re-installing and this issue is resolute. I also happen to know that some other 2nd Generation Touch owners at my school have the very same issue. I have seen some threads dotted about explaining their issues that are similar to this, meaning its fairly widespread.
My second issue is really bugging me, i opened the itunes store for the first time on my iPod(i never get any of my music from itunes normally i detest the application.) and all of a sudden it downloaded a podcast without me telling it to. It was called Podhead: The DoorWhores Off to vegas. This is something i really do not wish to have on my iPod. So i synced it to my windows OS and tried to re-sync the iPod's podcasts with my library so that it would dissappear. But it didn't, i then tried setting it to manually putting files on my ipod and alas it doesnt show up in the podcasts sub section of the device. I tried playing the podcast and it takes me to the home screen of my ipod with the Play triangle flickering constantly in the top right of my ipod. I don't know what is going on with that but i havnt restored it to factory settings after this issue, mainly because my iPod refuses to accept that i own all of the apps i have backed up and i have no desire to manually re-download them to my ipod.
    3) That last scentence brings me nicely onto my final problem which is this: my computer tells me that i do not have the authority to put onto my ipod. Despite all of them being free and despite all of them having being backed up from my ipod.
Any help with these issues would be much appreciated. I am in desperate need of assistance before i come to the end of my tether and resign myself to a long trip to the nearest apple store. thanks in advance

Did you try to restore your iPod to factory settings and add your apps one by one to find out which app causes the crash? Try not to restore from a backup it may contain the corrupt parts you don't want to install again.

  • Ipod Nano skipping songs... IPod or ITunes issue?

I purchased an IPod Nano and signed up for ITunes. I purchased a CD from ITunes and synced it with my IPod. That worked fine except for one huge issue - the IPod skips right over 5 out of the 12 songs on the CD! The songs play fine through my computer (Windows XP Pro SP2), just not on the IPod.
Is this an IPod issue or an ITunes issue? Has anyone dealt with this before?

  • IPod nano 7G issues with shuffle function

    Dear all,
I just bought a 7G iPod nano. Altogether it's great but I have a couple of issues I would like to comment with you:
    1. I sometimes use the "shake to shuffle" function, but when I go and turn it OFF, the shuffle function still remains (although not in the "shake" mode), and I must turn it off manually by tapping on the screen while a song is playing, and de-selecting it. Does this happen to you?
    2. When I pair the iPod nano 7G to my car through bluetooth, after listening to any album up until the end, it then suddenly pauses, then starts playing again but in a shuffle mode, without me having done or touched anything. So after the end of any album, it just turns on the shuffle mode automatically. My car stereo system is a 2012 Mercedes Benz Audio 20 system, which has both A2DP and AVRCP profiles. Has anyone experienced something similar?
It's sounded like fun to listen to the iPod wirelessly in the car, but I must say that the bluetooth functionalities are so limited (play, stop, next track, last track) that it quicly becomes quite boring. I wish it had all the browsing controls like when you plug it in...Any comments?
Thanks a lot in advance for you help with these issues,

im having the same problem. I drive a 203 c class with audio 20 and for some reason the media interface wont sync with my ipod. The bluetooth works fine but when i try to plug it via the media interface cables, it only charges....

  • IPod Nano 7G - Issue controlling music through Bluetooth

I recently bought a 7th gen iPod Nano for running, but I'm also using for music in my car through Bluetooth.
I have a problem where if I'm listening to music with shuffle on and I skip the track using the cars skip buttons shuffle is turned off and the iPod starts going through the album/playlist sequentially. I previously had my iPhone connected instead and didn't have this problem at all, so it can't be the car sending the wrong signals...

  • Ipod Classic 120GB Issues.

I bought and ipod on ebay the seller said it worked 100% I filed a claim and lost some how. Now, I have an ipod that has some issues with freezing on songs. So I restored it back to factory setting and then it had the scan and fix issue, so I chkdsk /f the ipod and it seems fixed. All is well. I am super happy that alas I was not duped. So naturally I try to sync all 5000 of my songs, it syncs 115 songs. Tells me error code 50. So, I retry sync it will sync another 100-200 songs then next song says 1392 cannot copy etc etc. Repeat process. This time however I am able to play songs within the ipod as far as I can tell. First 5 or 6 songs played fine. So it appears the freezing of songs was fixed. Then it says attempt to cop disk has failed after each failed sync attempt. I then go and resync more songs same thing either error code, each time the scan and sync pops up. I have done this process a couple of times and have worked my way up to 700 songs out of the 5000+ movies that I have.
So, my question is this. If I am correct it is hard drive failure or failure to be.Is there anyway this could have happened in shipment from sellers house to my own?...Is there anything I can do outside of getting a replacement pod for the ~$129 fee. I already dropped about $75 on what I though to be a working ipod....
    Thanks for the help.

  • Ipod cassette adapter issue

    Hi,
just purchased a new video Ipod and plan on using it in the car. FM transmitter is not an option due to too much interference in NYC area. Now I already use a cassette adapter to listen to satellite radio and found it ok so was planning to do same with ipod. Problem : when plugging the ipod to the cassette most of sound seems to come from the left side of my stereo system (almost as if the sound coming from the ipod was mono). There is a trickle coming from right side but at much lower volume than the left so the stereo effect is nil. I already tried a different brand of cassette adapter, same issue. Never experienced that with my XM roadie. Does anyone has a clue?

Check your iPod with your headphones and see if there is also a problem with the right side dropping out. If the problem also exists with the headphones you may have a damaged headphone jack and need to get it serviced.
