Ipod totally wiped out but still has the name I named it
My sister plugged in her iPod onto the G4 kast night and this morning all the music has gone. It still had its name that i gave it and so i thought maybe it'd be okay. But the About bit says it has 36GB free so i guess not!! I read an article saying that the new iTunes deleted mp3s randomly. I had better back up mine now. Has this every happened to anyone? And is there a way of getting the music from the iPod back?

Unless the songs are still on your iPod (check, scroll through the artists/playlists etc and see if any are there) or backed up somewhere, you're out of luck.
I read an article somewhere a while ago about a program that can 'recover' lost files on iPods and hard disks, however I can't remember what it was called! Bummer!

Ipod shows there is no music or video, but still has the same memory.
so basically, last night I hooked up my iPod and synced it to upload this new podcast I had. once it did, I turned off my computer and went to bed. When I got to bed, I went to listen to that podcast, and it wasn't there..nothing was there. I went to the about and it said "Music: 0 Video:0 Photos:2752" But then I looked at my available memory, and it said, "Capacity:74.3GB Available:23.4GB"
So I believe that all my music and videos are still inside my iPod, but my iPod isn't reading it..
Can anyone please help me? I really do not want to lose my whole libary..it isn't on my iTunes anymore..*...it isn't on my iTunes anymore...*
Why not? You erased the iPod's backup!
Well, try this reset procedure...
1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
2. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 10 seconds. +You may need to repeat this step.+
If the above steps did not work, try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep. Allow at least a two-hour charge and repeat the above steps. -
HELP!! all songs wiped out but still on HD
just synced photos for the first time, got em loaded in and everything seemed fine...then i tried hooking the ipod back to the computer and said it was unable to read the ipod and it needed to be reset to factory options...
i tried a few other things, including reset....i then updated itunes...now it recognizes the ipod but all my music is GONE!!!! the photos are still there but nothing in the music folder...HOWEVER, itunes says the ipod is half full (30GB ipod) and when i browse thru the windows folders, all of the music files are there, but they just don't show up in itunes or on the ipod menu.....PLEASE HELP as we're leaving on vacation tomorrow morning and this was going to be our saving grace to entertain the kids while in the plane!!!!!
PC Windows XP ProIt would appear that the iPod hard drive or iPod software has become corrupt. This doesn't mean that the songs are not on your iPod, hence the fact that the iPod reports used space and iTunes may show them.
You should restore the iPod and then reload the songs from iTunes. -
How do I change my Apple ID in iCloud. I changed my Apple ID but when I go to settings iCloud the old id is grayed out and won't let me change it now because my password is for the new id but I can out the new id in the Apple ID spot
Does it show a Delete Account option at the bottom of Settings > iCloud? What happens if you hit that?

BB Curve 8900 died and will turn on but still has the red "off" sign
Hi all. Great site.
I have a Blackberry Curve 8900 and last night the battery completely drained and I could not connect it to a charger until I arrived at work this morning. I plugged the phone in around 9:00 A.M., and even now at 2:00 P.M. it is still not charged.
Strangely, the phone WILL turn on if connected to the charger, but the radio is still off. The red "OFF" sign is still there on the upper-right corner of the screen.
Is there something I can do to get it to actually charge back to where I can use it?

These batteries typically do not like to be fully drained. Sometimes doing so renders them useless. But, there are a few things for you to try before you determine that as the root cause.
1) Get a new known good battery. See if it will charge properly in your BB. If so, then your battery is indeed damaged and useless.
2) Give your battery to another known good BB of the exact same model. See if it will charge properly. If so, then your BB or your charger may be damaged.
3) Try a different known-good charger in a known-good wall outlet. If it will charge now, then you know it to be your charger to be damaged.
These steps will help determine where the root cause is, which will guide you to the actions necessary to remedy the situation.

My daughter has an iPod touch using my apple ID, I just purchased an iPhone with the same ID. Is there a way to keep my stuff seperate from her ipod but still share the iTunes account? I was looking through the photo section on my iPhone and found pics my daughter has taken from her iPod. I do not want my pics, emails, etc to show up on her iPod. Is there a way to stop this from happening or do I have to create a different Apple ID for her to use instead?

Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before. Make sure you specify a birthdate that results in being at least 13 years old

Use the new ID on her iPod but only for:
Settings>Messages>Send and Receive
Settings>FaceTime
Settings>GameCenter
and Settings>iCloud if you want her to have separate Contacts Calendar and some other things.
Continue to use the same/common Apple ID for Settings>iTunes and App stores so you can share purchases. -

Try doing it on your computer with iTunes and then sync to your iPad to see if it clears the problem.

What is the easiest way to restore my ipod back to factory specs. It has a red circle with a red x in the middle,please help me to fix my ipod, until now i can't use my ipod..i tried all the procedures in Restore ipod from disk mode but still not working, please help me...
If you are unable to get the iPod into Disk Mode to try and restore it, it's a very good indication, as mentioned in the article, that the iPod's hard drive is damaged and in need of replacement either by Apple or a third party repair company.

My ipod (nano, 6th generation) won't sync to a new computer with different stuff on it. Itunes on the new computer doesn't give the usual warning that you are about to lose all your existing stuff and the ipod *appears* to sync but when it's done it still has the stuff from the other computer on it. What to do?

Is there anyway to export the iPod metadata from my iPhone 4? I don't need the music, I have that on an external hard drive, but my backup got wiped out and I need the metadata.
Okay, so I had to re-install iTunes. My iTunes library is currently empty. I can make a new back up and the location of the songs not having changed, these will be available in my library?

My iPod Classic 160GB is recognized by computer, and goes through sync process, but still has old stuff...
I feel like there must be an issue with the library location, but I don't know how to correct that. My Dad recently wiped my computer and deleted Windows XP and installed Windows 7. I don't know what he did, but my iTunes library is still intact it seems. However, I've added quite a few podcasts that I'd like to sync to my iPod. When I connect it, it goes through the sync process, but ends quickly and says its safe to disconnect. None of the new podcasts are on there though.
Also, there was something really wrong with my iTunes account. When I went to buy something from the store, it wouldn't accept my password, and when I went to reset it, it wouldn't recognize my birthdate and month (I had the correct username). I ended up creating a new account and purchasing a song. This time, it did sync the new song onto my iPod, but not the podcasts I'm trying to sync.
As far as the library location, is there anything particular that has to be included in that library in order for it to be recognized by iTunes when you sync? Awhile back (before my Dad worked on my computer), I had changed the folder location to my external hard drive, but in researching, I saw that I still had in another drive some folders with music that is currently on my iPod. So it looks like I have some stuff on two different drives... Maybe this has something to do with it not syncing right?
I did check, and my Firewall doesn't have iTunes blocked.
As you can see, I'm not very experienced with all of this... Sorry for the confusion. If you are interested in helping me and have any questions, please let me know.
I'm hoping someone will be able to help me... I desperately want to be able to listen to my podcasts, as I'm a stay-at-home Mom of 4 little ones, and the podcasts are kind of an "escape" for me when the children are napping or playing. :-)

I don't know how I missed it, but when I went back to change the setting like you mentioned, I noticed that the very top box that says "Sync Podcasts" wasn't checked! I have no idea why... But my heart started to race when I checked that box and all of a sudden it started syncing all my podcasts!! It's gonna take a long time (I have 385 of them!), but I am just so happy you helped me with this problem. Thank you SO much!

When I connect to itunes. It does not recognize my ipod and said I need to restore. I have tried to restore which says will take 4 hours but it never completes. The ipod still has the picture of "connect to itunes" Please help. I have tried to figure this out for days.

What OS X system are you running are your computer now? Or is this a Windows machine?

I put a passcode on my iPad 2, then I forgot it. I've tried to restore it in iTunes, but it still has the passcode on it. What do I do?
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present
Connect the iPod to your computer and restore via iTunes. Place the iPod in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore. -
I have just purchased a second hand ipod touch 4. The previous owners details are still in it, so for example when I try to update the facebook app it asks me for the previous owners password, and shows the previous owners email address. How do I change it all to my details? I have already synced it with itunes and all of my music is now in it, and it's also renamed on the itunes page when I attach the ipod to my PC. I've also been in to the 'info' page, 'Advanced' and then 'Replace information on this ipod with mail accounts from this computer' then finally 'apply', but it still has the other persons ID.
I've answered my own question! I now understand that you can't use apps as they are always going to be linked to the original owner. I've since deleted the app and downloaded it again, and all is now well!
