Ipod Touch 1g Has White Screen & Error 1600

Where do I start?
My Ipod Touch 1st gen got the white screen of death...I have tried the hard boot along with restoring through iTunes. No fix.
The ipod still works! I can still play music on it, I just cannot see anything but white.
I tried to downgrade the firmware to fix the issue (I have searched 2 weeks and this is what people say to fix it?). I think I have 3.1.3 right now. I tried to downgrade to 1.1.4 (I have all the firmwares downloaded up to my current...). I kept getting an Error Code 20. I downloaded TinyUmbrella, and it fixed the code 20. Now, I keep getting Error Code 1600?! I have searched Apple Support and 1600 is not on their list...
What do I do?

I got the same problem except i tried power and home hold didn't work tried restoring it with itunes nothing. Please get back to me on this issue its a 16gb 1st gen Ipod Touch.

Let the battery go dead, recharge and test. If that does not work, restore.

  • Why does my iPod Touch have a white screen and how do I get rid of it?

Why does my iPod Touch have a white screen and how do I get rid of it?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod touch crashed with white screen after using Griffin TuneJuice

    Hello all,
I have an iPod touch first generation that has worked flawlessly for about 1,5 years. Recently I bought a Griffin TuneJuice (external battery) to get longer battery life. The salesperson said it should work with the Touch, and it did at first. But later on it did not charge the iPod anymore. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting, restarting the iPod and so on.
Suddenly the screen of the iPod went completely white after a reboot. I can not get it to show anything anymore. I have tried resetting (holding power+home for 10 secs), reformatting and restoring, upgrading the firmware to 2.2 but none seems to work.
Googling for the problem it seems everyone who encountered this got it repaired under warranty, which is obviously not a solution for me since it's too old. So what I need to know is from a technical point of view what goes wrong when the screen is blank. The iPod seems to work otherwise (for example, it syncs perfectly with the computer and the "clicks" are playing).
I guess that something must be wrong with the firmware at a lower level than iTunes can repair. Is it possible to repair the firmware by using some lowlevel tool?
Or could this be a hardware problem (the guy in the store suggested the docking connector might have broken or short-circuited). In that case, is there any good guide on how to open and repair an iPod?
From searching different forums it seems the problem is quite common, and I hope that someone smart enough has got the problem and managed to solve it.
    Thankful for any help.

hold the power bottom and the home bottom then it will shut off after that just turn it back on ,then it should work, it may take longer than 10 seconds, you gotta be patient.. because i had the white screen and did this, hope it helps.

  • What does it mean when I turn on my iPod Touch and a white screen shows up?  Nothing else comes up.

Everytime I try to turn it on, a white screen comes up and nothing else.  I just used by iPod Touch last week and everything was normal.

No, you don't have a virus, but if that folder has a flashing '?', it means your Mac can't find its' system:

  • IPod 4th Gen has white screen after replacement, and restore

Okay. Here's the problem. A while ago, I dropped my iPod, and it's screen cracked. I've been living with it ever since perfectly, but just with a cracked screen. Now, I ordered a new screen, and I begin to replace it. I knew how, and like an easy job, I did it pretty quick compared to others. After both ribbon cables where in, I pressed the lock button, and my iPod had a white screen. I was a little worried about that, so, I tried to reattach the screen. Now it was just black, after even using the home and lock button restart method. Eventually I got it back up and to the white screen by draining the battery and recharging, and there I was again, stuck. I looked at some forums on the internet to try to see if anyone had my problem. After clicking on the first link, it turns out, alot of people had this problem as well as me. The solution they said was pressing the home button and lock button for about 10 or so seconds, and then it goes to the apple screen and is all better again. I tried it, and my home button broke. Great. So, now I had to use the little button that the home button was pressing down to try the solution. Tried it, and, nothing. Still the blank, plain, white screen. Looked some more and saw that pressing the home and lock buttons along with the volume up button worked for some people too. Tried it, worked just as good as the previous one. Nothing. I even tried some person's idea of doing home, then volume up, then lock, in different timed stages. Nothing. I also saw people begging for them not to restore their iPods and begging for a solution. I was fine with a restore, I just had games that I played on my iPhone as well. So, I went with it, and restored it, without any backups, just going to factory mode. Afterwards I heard my iPod make the iOS "plugged in" sound, and anxiously tried the lock button. Still had the white screen. STILL. Now, I'm here, begging for a solution like others, with an iPod that won't function properly. Can someone please help me?

No nothing like that happened, I'm sure, but I actually spent the day looking for a fix. Luckily, I had the idea of taping the spring down because I though the screen didn't touch it. Turns out I was right, but however, I found out that the screen I ordered was broken in a way, because it still had the white screen after the taping. Just to make sure, I tried the other screen to clarify if the taping worked or not. I did the home and lock button restart, and up popped the apple logo. So, that means that the screen I got from the seller was either a rip-off, or was just broken somehow in process of making, or delivering in some matter. Unfortunately, I think I can't ship it back unless for alot of money because the person I got it from comes from China. I live in the USA. So that's gonna be a matter to work with myself. Thank you for trying to help.

  • Ipod touch stuck on white screen

I have an ipod touch the new kind. I went to update my ipod in general then settings because it said i should update it for some reason and now ever since then my ipod randomly stopped working. When i hold the top button and the centre button it shows the apple but once the apple goes away it shows the screen go kind of fuzzy, changing colours then goes to white. When i don't hold the top button or the centre button my ipod just stays on the white screen. It also won't connect to my computer. It says it's charging but it won't show up on itunes or anything at all. I would LOVE some advice or help on this. Please!

    The Basic Troubleshooting Steps are:
    Restart... Reset... Restore...
    Restart / Reset
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
Try this First... You will Not Lose Any Data...
Turn the iPod Off... ( if it isn’t already )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear and then Disappear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
    Release the Buttons...
    Turn the iPod On...
If that does not help... See Here:

  • IPod touch 4th generation white screen

What to do or how to fix a white screen on a 4th gen iPod touch 8 gig?

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
