  • IPod touch 1st gen app store won't work

Hey all, I have an iPod touch 1st generation running firmware 3.1.3 and the app store is so buggy I cant download any apps except for in the featured part of the store... When ever I try to hit free or buy or 99 c or whatever you want to call it, the page becomes corrupted and I can't download the app. It won't let me put in my password. Also when I scroll down to the bottom to try to view screenshots the picture is all zoomed in and I can't swipe left or right. If anyone can help me get my iPod back too normal I would greatly appreciate it. I'm not jailbroken and have tried to restore the iPod twice now. :/ thanks in advance.

Other users of 1G iPod (or any iPod with iOS 3.x) have experienced the same problem within the last couple of days. It appears that Apple updated the App store website to cause this problem. For the time being you just have to download them to your computer and sync them to your iPod.

  • Android AIR does not launch - app opens then immediately closes

I have created a very simple app using Flash - AIR for Android extension. I have confirmed that my Droid2 device is connected via the DDMS through the Android SDK, and have published the app to the device following the instructions here: http://www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/devices/pdfs/device_lab1.pdf. When published, the APK was packaged successfully, but get the following warning:
Application has not specified its permission requirements in application.xml. This thread touches on it http://forums.adobe.com/thread/740905, but doesn't say whether to fix it, or what persmissions are necessary.
On the phone I can navigate to the app, however when I tap the app icon, the app closes as soon as it opens.
Any thoughts on what is causing this and how to fix it? Thanks for any help!

To test AIR runtime is working on my device/phone, I downloaded an Adobe AIR app from the Adobe Showcase, and discovered this app does not launch either, so I suspect the Adobe AIR application on my device/phone is not working.

My ipod touch (1st gen) is frozen and does not respond. All I can see is the Apple logo for around 10 seconds and then screen returns to black. What is wrong?

  • My ipod touch 1st gen keeps on saying when i come to download an app it says update required this app requires ios 4.3

my ipod touch 1st gen keeps on saying when i come to download an app it says update required this app requires ios 4.3 please help

Sorry, but there is nothing you can do other than buy a newer iPod. A 1st-generation iPod touch cannot run any version of iOS later than 3.1.3 and hence cannot run any app that requires a newer version.
    Regards.

  • Ipod touch 1st gen will not sync my apps

I've just bought my youngest son a cheap second hand Ipod touch 1st gen. I currently run an Iphone 4 and an Ipod touch 4th gen which both sync no problem but this new Ipod will sync everything I have (music, films, books, contacts etc but not the apps. When I click onto the apps section within the new Ipod on iTunes the availabe apps are greyed out and whereas I can click the "sync" box on all other sections there is no response when I click that box in apps.
Please help me, the other Ipod touch is for my daughter and i can not imaging what will happen come christmas if she has all my apps but my son doesn't. Especially Angry Birds!!!!!!

  • Help. I can't update iPod Touch 1st gen from ios 2.1.2 to 3.1.1; already paid for it.

    Hi all,
I got an iPod Touch 1st gen for my youngest son for Christmas as a starter. It has the 2.1.2 ios on it, but after I paid for the upgrade to 3.1.1, I keep getting an error message (8288) saying there was a problem with the network connection. I have called customer service, and they suggested I try on a different computer, and if that didn't work, try connecting to a different network, and then trying the update. None of this has worked. It seems that tech support is clueless with this issue.
I have installed and unistalled iTunes 10.5, 10.3, 10.4, and now I am back with 10.5. I have tried looking up the issue from several search engines but no one  seems to have a universal solution and I have tried several.
I really want to have this thing updated for himw hwne he opens it, but I am starting to worry that my purchase was a bust. I know this is the oldest version, but I don't want to buy a newer, more expensive iPod and him still not be mature enough to really take care of it. As I said, this one is a starter.
      Can anyone help? Please?!
    Thank you!!!
P.S. We have a PC, with Windows XP Home.

Yes, I have contacted them. They are who told me to try a few of the "fixes". They actually said they had never heard of this error, or any problems relating to his download. Also, when I was talking to them, they came here to this forum to find the answer...:/ This is why I am asking here. I was hoping someone had an idea I hadn't tried already.
    Thanks.

  • Trying to get my ipod touch (1st gen) to upgrade to ios 3.1.1

Trying to get my ipod touch to upgrade to ios 3.1.1.   I get an error message 8288

Hello, I hope by now you have resolved the upgrade issue, but if not, here is what I ended up having to do:
“SUCCESS!!! I took my iPod to a friend who is a computer programmer/genius. He turned off his wireless, hooked the ethernet cable directly into his computer, and the download went through without a hitch. YAY!”
Here is my original post explaining what I had already tried:

Now, there seem to be a lot of different ways to solve the 8288 error, none of which are universal. Best of luck getting yours upgraded!

P.S. The post by Sparkhi is a link to his blog going into a long story about how he wanted Apple to pay him for “solving” the issue….the one that apparently has been solved by multiple solutions. I’m not trying to bash, it just bothers me that he put up this whole story and finally, at the very end of his blog post, posts his solution.

  • IPod Touch 1st Gen Not Charging/Being Reconized

As the title says, my iPod Touch (1st Gen) will be reconized bu any computer or charge all in itself. I tried plugging it into multiple computers, nothing. I tried plugging it into the wall adapter...still nothing. It doesnt not get the charging symbol when I plug it into either places. The is actually the second time it happend. The first, well my cord was so worn, I guessed it was the cord and replaced it, worked just fine. The replacement happend very recently, like maybe 1-2 months ago. So right now, I would guess it was the cord, but its brand new. I have tried toing both a soft and hard reset of the iPod, nothing worked. If anyone could please help me, it would be highly appreciated.

  • Ipod touch(1st gen) stuck in recovery mode and cannot restore??

I just bought a used ipod touch 1st gen.  It was fully functional before I wiped it.  I wanted to remove all of the other person's music and personal info before I started using it. I also wanted to update ios.  I wiped it and when it restarted it was in recovery mode. I have tried to restore it and I keep getting an error message that it could not restore unknown error has occurred  (1).  I have tried troubleshooting and going through all of the steps that Apple suggests and nothing has worked.  Any suggestions?  I just want it restored and updated to the latest ios that will work with it (3.1.1 I believe) I don't know what to do at this point.

  • Ipod touch 1st gen MAJOR issues HELP!

My hubby dropped his 16gb ipod touch 1st gen on the floor. It landed face down. It was working fine until the battery ran out and since then it will not hold a charge. I reset it last night and it finally charged over night (plugged into the wall) it said it was fully charged this morning but after it was unplugged it was working fine except the internet would not work. It would not connect to our wireless internet. (I have an 8gig second gen that works dandy no issues so i know its not my internet.) He had his ipod on for 20 minutes it got broiling hot and the battery was back at being almost dead. We shut it off let it cool down and then we've had it plugged in all day ( it's plugged in my computer now) and just keeps saying its got 10 minutes remaining on the battery. I restored it twice through itunes and updated it and it still will not charge but will stay on if its plugged in the computer or the wall saying its charging... also the internet still will not work. it will for a few seconds pick up my wireless but with only one bar but will not let me try to connect to it. It tells me it can't connect. Then, the signal comepletely disappears again. It won't find any wireless at all. I even went upstairs and sat in front of the modem lol. I've tried everythihng known to man and am out of ideas. Is the thing screwed? Someone please help....

Sounds like something came loose or exposed. From what i read, it looks like your battery is losing it's charge quickly. My advice would be to take it in to a local apple store and see if they can fix it or run a diagnostic. Unfortunately, if i had to guess i'd say there's a hardware problem since your battery is dying so fast and is having charging problems. Good luck.

  • IPod Touch 1st gen - cannot connect to wi-fi

    Hi,
Am having a persistent wi-fi connection problem with my iPod Touch 1st gen, which I just bought second-hand. Any advice gratefully appreciated, as I have not been able to find a solution on the forums so far.
    THE PROBLEM
The iPod detects the signal from my home wi-fi router. When I try to connect, it invariably gives the error message "Unable to join the network [name]". I have 2 laptops and an iPhone running on this network with no problems.
    TROUBLESHOOTING TRIED
    - upgraded to latest version of iTunes
    - upgraded to latest version of iPod Touch software
    - upgraded to latest version of router firmware
    - removed all encryption on wireless signal (no WPA/WEP etc enabled)
    - reset wireless settings on iPod
    - removed all content from iPod & did a full restore & resync
    Please help! Thanks in advance

I had the same trouble for about a year. Tried everything. This finally did it-
    settings-wifi-other
manually enter network name, select WEP for security
    enter password once network found
After this, the network address field was still initially blank, I toggled back and forth, then the address info just appeared, all good after that!
Everything else was a waste of time
    It may help to clear Safari history and cache first (mine happened to be cleared after the unsuccessful reset}
Apple called it a hardware issue, and wanted me to send it in. Repair cost was near or more than replacement cost. This all started after 2.2.1 update - my best assumption was that the update over-clocked the wifi, and fried it. That didn't make sense to me, as it could still show the networks.
Hoe this helps you. The itouch was running 3.1.3 when I tried this last night.
Hope this helps! Reply back with your success stories!

  • Unable to sync Videos to iPod Touch 1st Gen

Hi. I was trying to sync some movies to my iPod Touch 1st gen but it keep giving me this following error message.
"Movie" was not copied to the iPod "my iPod" because it cannot be played on this iPod.
However I tried the sync-ing the same movie to my iPhone and my newer iPod Touch 4th gen and it works. Only my 1st Gen iPod Touch couldn't sync it. Any solutions I could try? Thanks a lot!

Hello, it happened to me before - except its my iPod 4th Generation. Most of my videos or movies can be synced though, there are only a few that doesn't work. I'm not sure about the cause of the problem, maybe something like the iPod and the movie format is not compatible or something.. If you tried almost everything and it still doesn't work, maybe try creating an iMovie project and import your movie into it, then just export the iMovie so it puts the video in another video.. Not sure if it'll work, but worth a try
    Hope this helped!
