Ipod Touch 2.0 Glitch

I successfully updated to 2.0 early this morning, but has anyone noticed any problems with the 2.0 software. For example,i was opening up TTR,then all of the sudden the ipod rebooted. But i haven't had the problem again, the main problem im having is Ive pretty much lost all sound in my ipod. You know when you slide to unlock, that click that you here,my ipod makes the noise but i cannot here in in my headphones, but i can still listen to music.and my games were starting to not play music when they needed to,now super monkey ball plays no musicat all anymore, and TTR doesn't play the sounds en-till i actual start playing.I have done a hard reboot and everything. Is anyone else having this problem,or do i need to get a replacement ipod. Thank you so much for your help.

well about the sound issue, there is an option under settings that you should check. go to settings - general - sound effects - and then choose off, speaker, headphones, or both. im not sure about the apps closing. sometimes my ipod just overloads and goes back to the homescreen. i havent ever thought about it as a big problem just a slight inconvenience. hope this helps.

  • IPod Touch skips, stutters, glitches through songs since software upgrade!

    Hi everyone,
*Since I upgraded my iPod Touch* to the latest available software update +(for the 1st Gen is 3.1.3)+, it has become *unable to properly play any music encoded above 128kbps*. Before the upgrade, my iPod could play music encoded in any higher bitrates like a champ! All the way to 320kbps, variable, even Apple Lossless format used to play flawlessly.
Suddenly after the last *firmware update*, most of the songs in my iPod Touch would *skip, glitch and garble, making electronic glitches and annoying noises* for no apparent reason. On occasion, the iPod would even *add several second of silence in the middle of random songs*. It's bizarre!
It definitely took me a while to figure it out, and spent weeks testing and researching what could be the problem. It was truly driving me nuts! The result of all these tests was clear: the *iPod Touch now CHOKES on any music file encoded higher than 128 kbps ACC*. Truly pathetic for such an expensive little jukebox. Even the early MP3 players I owned 10 years ago were able to play variable rate MP3 files without a glitch. *_This is a major bug that needs to be solved_*.
For those interested, I did the following tests through my weeks of research to find out the culprit to this problem:
    - - - Reinstalled the device software
    - - - Reformatted the device, then updated the software
    - - - Uninstalled all apps, reinstalled and tested my music after reinstalling each app
    - - - Disabled Wi-Fi (no difference)
    - - - Copied over my music library from scratch, several times (it was painful)
    - - - Reformatted a few albums in different bitrates, from 96kbps, all the way to 320kbps, both in constant and variable rates, and tested them one by one. This took days.
In the end, there is one thing that was consistently clear: *any songs encoded over 128kbps would skip, glitch and sound corrupted. Time after time*. All those music files I had encoded at higher rates +(192 kbps, variable 240 kbps and beyond)+ would make the iPod choke.
There is one temporary solution to this mess, but it involves reducing the quality of your music files: The only way I can now play my music collection in my iPod Touch without skips and glitches is by downconverting my files to the now *obsolete 128kbps*. Only when I converted my music to 128kbps, the annoying skips and glitches stopped. For an audiophile like myself, this was an absolutely painful decision, as I can tell the *obvious loss in quality and nuance in my music files since i had to downconvert them*.
Funny: this skipping problem *also affects any files purchased from iTunes* +(encoded at 240 kbps variable rate)+. Should I ask for my money back, Apple?
I find this irritating and painful, since *the ONE THING the iPod is supposed to do well* (aside from apps, games, and web browsing) *is to PLAY AUDIO AND MUSIC FILES*.
I spent a lot of money on this machine, and until recently it worked like magic; I just wished it played music again like it's supposed to. It's what the iPod was built to do. *Apple: Please fix the software!*
I wonder if there's a forum where I could post my detailed findings, so Apple engineers can take note of this *MAJOR BUG*.
PS: I have recently learned this is a very common bug, and tons of people are reaching out telling me they are experiencing the same annoying problems. Furthermore, *this seems to affect not just the 1st Gen, but ALL generations of the iPod Touch*. It's a *widespread software issue* that was not properly addressed in the latest software upgrade. I'm starting to worry about Apple's quality assurance process.

Hi everyone. Thanks to a tip in another forum, I think I had a breakthrough regarding this problem. I have the strong suspicion it's not the software for the iPod Touch, but instead, the problem comes from *iTunes and how it handles USB 2.0 transfers*.
To make a long story short, all your *music that's encoded above 128 kbps gets corrupted when you transfer it to your Touch from iTunes through your USB 2.0 connection*. That's where the problem is!
    I performed this simple test:
    *PART 1 - WIFI*
    - I connected my iPod Touch via Wi-Fi to the iTunes Store. Bought an album encoded at a very high bitrate (Coldplay's "Viva la Vida", encoded at 256KBPS).
    - Downloaded the Coldplay album directly to my iPod Touch via Wi-Fi.
    - Tested every song in the album, and they all played flawlessly.
    *PART 2 - USB 2.0*
    - Now, I erased the Coldplay album from my iPod Touch.
    - Connected my iPod Touch to my computer, and downloaded the album again via iTunes. I copied the very same album to my iPod Touch, this time using the USB 2.0 connection.
    - I tested every song in the album. Guess what: most of them are corrupted, skipping, glitching, making garbled noises.
I think a reached a minor "eureka" moment. *It's not the iPod Touch software: It's iTunes, and how iTunes deals with your USB 2.0 connection*.
Now, I'm not an engineer, and I don't know how to fix this problem. I wonder if there's anyone out there there that knows why high bitrate files get corrupted during the file transfer. Hope anyone can shed some additional light on this issue, so we can find a solution.

  • IPod Touch 4G Camera Glitch

I'm finding it kind of weird how my ipod touch 4g (ios 5.0.1) camera's glitching. By simply touching the Camera app it starts up and as soon as the camera lense animation launches, I get a black screen. I cant switch cameras or take pics, you switch modes. But I did notice the bottom right screen where the slider between video and picture is jittery. It would flash alittle beside the camera icon and do nothing. I've tried resetting everything and restoring it, but I think its a hardware problem. Only thing thats funny is that when I enter facetime, the front camera works just fine, but when I switch to the rear camera, facetime freezes and disconnects the call. Any help? please and thank you.

To rule out a software problem try the following:
    - Reset. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Retore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • Ipod touch lyric syncing glitch, any work-arounds?

I have an iPod touch and for quite a while I've been using iTunes for music.
I've noticed that the lyrics sync, but if the song had lyrics during a previous sync, the lyrics don't change on the iPod when I sync them again.
On iTunes, the lyrics ARE changed, both in my library and on the list of music on my iPod, but the lyrics haven't changed on the iPod.
Are there ways to fix this?
I have tried deleting and replacing lyrics, resetting iPod (Which I will not do again), and even triple syncing after each change to the lyrics.
This glitch/bug is a nuisance because it means I can only change the lyrics once; and only if it didn't already have lyrics.
Also, is there any "bug report" here on apple.com?
I've noticed that the only time I can talk to apple representatives (they don't answer the communities too often) is over the phone, which is extremely inconvenient if you don't have the time to stay on the phone for a few hours trying to snipe a simple error. Especially when you take into account re-installing and updating software to fix issues.

I solved my problem, here's the steps for anyone who stumbles upon this:
    1. Correct/add lyrics through iTunes on your computer
    2. copy lyrics
    3. Delete song from your iPod and iTunes music library (click "Keep File" in iTunes)
    4. Sync your iPod to iTunes
    5. Go to File>Add File to Library
    6. Locate the song you removed and double click on it
    7. Download artwork (optional)
    8. Add lyrics (you should have it copied, so just paste them in)
    9. Sync your iPod
    10. Refresh the Music app by closing it (in the multitask bar) or changing songs
    11. enjoy singing along with your song(s)

  • Ipod Touch screen black/ Glitching

My iPod Touch (4th Gen) Stopped working around November time. I was listening to music and the whole iPod just cut out and reset itself, and when it turned back on the screen lit up but remained black and alternated between two different patterns of glitches.
The touch still works as i can still enter the numbers for my password. Ive tried everything from holding the lock/Power button and the centre button so the silver apple is displayed which doesnt resolve the problem. Ive tried restoring it to factory settings by using itunes, and i have also tried allowing the battery to die and remain dead for a few months hoping it might cause a reset to remove the fault.
Im just wondering if i can fix it without having to spend money for a new one or get it repaired by someone.

If you successfully restored (went through all steps without error) to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

  • Ipod touch 2nd gen. glitching out like crazy, any suggestions?

IPod won't connect to itunes even after uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version of it, freezes frequently, will turn itself off, tilt sensors won't work anymore, sometimes screen will turn white, and stay that way until it runs itself out of batteries.

The reason is probably because you have dropped it a lot. Try going to a repair place near you and pay to get it repaired.

  • IPod touch photo album glitch + Keyboard layout

Hi everyone. I have had this erreor since I updated to the latest software. Whenever I go into the photos on my iPod, I can't access one of my photo albums, and I can't quite explain why, I'll let the picture do the tallking.
Also, is there any way to get Dvorak keyboard layout on here? I tried to go nito the keybaord layou and Dvorak did exist under "Hardware keyboard," but I tried it and it didn't do anything.. it wouldn't be such a big deal, but I uso Dvorak on my desktop always, and Qwerty is really throwing me off!

Will that replace the standard keyboard or will I have to run it EVERY time I want to type something?

  • IPod touch 5th gen unlock screen GLITCH while music is playing

    Hello, everyone.
I am experiencing two, what I believe to be, very annoying software glitches on my 5th Gen iPod Touch 64 GB.
I know for certain that I am not the only one because I have read other articles in this forum with people going through the same thing. However, a solid solution ceases to exist and people don't really know how to explain the problem.
My device is running iOS 7.0.3 and iTunes 11.1.3
    Here are the issues:
When my music is playing and I have the screen locked and then I slide to unlock it, the song that is playing rewinds to the point where I locked the screen initially. It happens with every song. If I purposefully forward it to, let's say for example, 3 minutes into the song and I locked the screen 10 seconds into the song, when I unlock the screen, it'll automatically rewind to when I locked the screen (which was 10 seconds into the song). Annoying as ****.
The second glitch is less annoying, but annoying nonetheless. Let's say I skip to the next song after 3 minutes of the song I was just listening to and then I want to go back and hear that same song again from the beginning, it will start me off from when I skipped to the song which was 3 minutes into the song. Why the ****?
I refuse to believe that I am missing something because I checked and have tried a 'solution'. The only existing solution that I've managed to find was to restart the device and the 1st aforementioned glitch disappears... but reemerges later, AGAIN! Who really wants to be restarting their device over and over, let alone a NEW device that's supposed to be better?. Let's not get into the $400 I spent on it (taxes...).
On a serious note, someone please give me closure and tell me that Apple is aware of this and they intend on patching this up. It should be a little embarassing to them the my 4th Gen iPod Touch functions flawlessly- but why should I revert to it?
The forum I read here was from September 2013... we are in November. Do they know what is happening? They're Apple... I would assume that they do.
Any insight of any kind from anyone with intellectual prowess, please respond to this thread/plea
    Thanks, everyone!

    but still the same.

  • I have an ipod touch 4th gen.  It is refurbished.  The problem I am  having is with glitches....although they, for now, seem to be limited to the Temple Run 2 app.  I have tried the app in several locations to test other wi-fi...suggestions??

I have a 4th gen Ipod touch - refurbished.  (second refurbished this month....the first had to be replaced by Apple.)  I have having issues with glitching - specifically in the Temple Run 2 app.  I have tried the app in several locations to make sure it wasn't just my wacky home wi-fi causing the glitch.  I have deleted and then reinstalled the app....  Any suggestions?

Since you really did not say what you meant by "glitching" it could be a network or server problem. have you contacted the developer/went to their support site?

  • IPod touch 5th gen alarm didn't go off this morning, glitch?!

Why didn't my iPod touch 5th gen alarm go off this morning??? Volume was up, alarm was on, but it didn't go off!! I missed going on a bike ride with my friend now so I'm annoyed, I'm on newest ios7 but anyone know how I can stop this glitch, or a solution?

You can try the standard fixes but I have not heard of any real problem with alarms in this forum. I would also try testing the alarm a few times.

I guess it's all in the question really. But yeah, when I press on an app on the home screen, it opens for a fraction of a second and then closes again, just a flash, and it's starting to irk me. Thanks for any advice :)

    - Try a reset. Nothing is lost.

  • Strange itunes w/iPod Touch glitch--alternative itunes?

    Hello.
I have an iPod touch 2g, 8gb on itunes 8, windows Vista 32-bit.
For some reason, certain songs will not add into the itunes library to be transferred onto the ipod.
For example, I have a few Jack Johnson songs. One will add, but the rest of them wont. These were all burned from the same CD at the same time, legally owned and all. Itunes will transfer one song, but not the other six. I try manually dragging into the library and it doesn't work, and manually dragging to the ipod touch does not seem to have any effect either.
Is there some way to add songs that I'm not aware of, some reason that the songs are not being added, or even an alternative to itunes that would be able to add these missing songs?

That's what I assumed at first too, it it's not just Jack Johnson, I have a Don McLean CD from the 90's, a few A Fine Frenzy CDs, The Academy Is... (one of their CDs) among others. It's far too diversified to just be one particular thing. I have tried un-installing and installing iTunes a couple times, and it doesn't seem to be a driver problem at all.
