Ipod touch 2.1.1 can this be updated

I have recently got an ipod touch, not even sure which generation it is and I have tried to put games on it but as it is version 2.1.1 it will not let me.  Is there a way of upgrading this?

First figure out what ipod you have:
Identifying iPod models
The original can be upgraded to 3.1:
Purchasing iOS 3.1 Software Update for iPod touch (1st generation)
Second gen can be updated to 4.2.1  Open itunes connect ipod.  It will prompt you to update.

My wife's nano no longer is recognized by Windows but my ipod touch is?  How can I fix this?

My iPod touch is always recognized by my Vista Box...using the same USB cable and port my wife's nano isn't detected anymore.  Since Vista can't see the nano iTunes can't see it either.  When I try my wife's nano I get the message:
"One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows doesn't recognize it.  For assistance in solving this problem, click this message"
I thought her nano wasn't charged enough but I've charged it for hours and this doesn't make a difference.  It used to synch like my ipod touch but it stopped working about a week ago.  My wife's nano still holds songs and works it just can't be recognized by Windows.  I even checked if the Apple Mobile Device app was running and it was and I stopped it and restarted it.  Didn't make any difference.  Any ideas?

My iPod Touch 4S is no longer able to update applications (They just sit and wait forever).  How do I fix this?

  • HT4972 I updated my ipod touch and now I can't open any of my videos what happened and what can I do to get them to open

I updated my ipod touch and now I can't open any of my downloaded apps, what would happen if I reset it to factory settings?

Try a hard reset.  To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
If still no luck try downloading and installing a free app from the app store.  This has resolved the issue for many users.

    Hi pwrhuskers,
Try Resetting Network Settings on the iPhone, go to Settings> General> Reset> Reset Network Settings.
What type of wireless router are you using? What type of security is being used and how many characters are in the network key?
If you are using WEP, you'll want to use a 5 or 13 character key as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1344

Can this software update also work on iPod 2.2.1?

I do not understand you question. If you are stuck on iOS 2.2 you likely have the original iPod (1G). That iPod can be updated as high as 3.1.3 by:
