I have an ipod touch 2G 16gb, and when I first plugged it in, the screen showed up with the low battery picture then the screen shut off again. I looked it up and it said that meant that the ipod was dead and needed to charge for up to 10 minutes before the ipod would turn on. I charged it for a half hour and it still won't turn on. I try resetting it, and that does not work either. It's not recognized by my computer or itunes. Is the battery dead? What do I do?

Unfortunately for you, the home button is necessary for reset and also to put the device into recovery mode or DFU mode. Since that is not working, and the device is not recognized in iTunes, check the charging port area. There could be dust, lint, etc, that is blocking the connection for charging, and connecting to iTunes. If nothing seems wrong there, then make an appointment at the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple Store or Authorized Apple Service provider, depending on your location. There is no other option.

My Ipod touch 2nd generation won't turn on, except when I plug it in. When it's plugged in, it works fine, but when I unplug it, the screen turns black. The secont i plug it in again, it shows the apple logo as if i shut it down. When unplugged, it is unresponsive, i've tried everything with the home button and power button, doesn't move, it's just black. I've reset the Ipod, I know it is not a software issue. Sometimes it works, but as soon as i push the sleep button it doesn't turn back on till plugged back in. The battery's bad, but it can still last up to 30 minutes. I don't think it's worth buying a new battery, may as well buy an Ipod 5. (pretty cool)

Check your cable whether it is good. If it is use the wall plug to charge at least half an hour. See how it goes.

I was trying to restore my iPod touch because it was locking itself and flashing. When I tried to restore it, the iPod turned itself off completely and won't turn back on. I have an ipod touch 1st generation that I got about 4 years ago. I don't use it that often because I now have an iPhone but when I went to use it, I found it was dead. It won't charge, turn on or appear on my computer or itunes. I've tried recovery and DFU mode but neither work, since it won't turn on at all. I've tried charging it for almost a whole day but it won't even show me a red battery charging icon. I've tried holding the home and power buttons for several minutes while its plugged in but still nothing. My cord is fine and works with other ipod and i have the newest version of itunes.I have a windows 7 computer. I don't live near enough to an apple store to take it in for them to look at and it's no longer under warrenty and it costs $20 for a one time support session online!! Is there anything i can to fix it without spending too much money or should i just accept its dead and not recovering?

Before this happened, it kept on pressing buttons by itself and i couldn't do anything. I restored it and it still didn't work, so I tried again, and after 5 more restores, it still wouldn't work, Then the battery drained from full to dead in literally about five seconds. Now, it won't charge or turn on. My computer doesn't even say it is plugged in anymore. I've tried 3 different cords, both in a wall outlet and my computer, and it still won't work. Help!

Well there is one thing you can try... hold down the home button and lock/sleep button at the same time and don't forget to hold it. It should turn on. (By the way what you are doing is a restart, if you were on your iPod Touch on the home screen and you did thins it would reboot, and that is exactly why you are doing this)

I have an iPod Touch 5th Generation with iOS 8.1, my home button is broken and I've been using AssistiveTouch for months now. Today I just locked my iPod and it wouldn't unlock again, it doesn't respond at all, it won't turn on. It was almost fully charged, so it's not the battery. I followed the steps from this thread, but I'm still getting the "USBMuxListenerCreate: No Error" message in CMD Prompt. I bought my iPod abroad and even though I do have the warranty, I've been told at the iStore that it's not valid here, so going to the store isn't really an option. Any ideas how to solve this?

Sorry, but without a working home button it is not possible to reset or restore your device. You should visit an Authorized Appel Service Provider or Apple Store to get it serviced. The warranty for an iPod is not limited to the country where it has been bought, check here: one-year limited warranty

On my computer (using windows) I tried to update my iPod touch 5th gen to iOS 8 using iTunes, using this website http://www.gottabemobile.com/2014/09/17/the-secret-to-skipping-long-ios-8-downlo ads-and-problems/ as a guide.
It kept coming up with this error http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201442 after the update.
Now my iPod won't turn on and it shows the charger with the lightening with an arrow above it pointing to the iTunes logo.
So i plugged it into iTunes but i don't know what i'm supposed to do, any help?

I've just updated my iPod touch 5th generation to the iOS 8.1.1. (or whatever the newest update is) but once it updated, it now won't turn back on. I've tried plugging it into multiple chargers and computers just in case it wasn't charged, and tired turning it on, but all I get is the apple logo and nothing's happening. What can I do? I haven't backed it up this month and I don't want to loose all my stuff. Thanks.

In the future make sure yo backup before updating. I always backup to both iTunes and iCloud before updating .

My iPod touch (4th gen) won't turn back on

I tried unlocking my iPod this afternoon, when it decided to randomly shut off, even though it wasn't on 20% battery, or anything. When I tried plugging it in though, I saw that it wasn't charging. I plugged it in to my computer, went into iTunes to see if anything was happening, and saw that my iPod wasn't being recognized by my computer, unless it entered recovery mode, and even then, it only stayed connected for a couple seconds.
So, in a nutshell, the thing turned off, won't charge, and refuses to go into recovery mode. I also happen to not live too close to an apple store, so I can't get much help from them.

My iPod touch 5th gen was working fine and was fully charged and then it just shut off and won't turn back on. There has been no damage to it from anything and there was no reason it should've shut off. I tried holding down the lock button for a minute and I also tried plugging it in..still nothing.
