IPod Touch 2G Accelerometer broken

I've had my iPod 2G for a about 1 year and 2 months, give or take, so the warranty is expired, and I believe my accelerometer is broken. I first noticed it a few weeks ago, when you had to hold it perfectly straight for it to not orientate left, now as soon as i open music or safari, it automatically goes left. Which makes it nearly impossible to use since i can't really select the songs i want, nor plug it into my dock. I've tried restoring it to factory settings and it didn't help. I'm pretty lost as far as what to do at this part. Any suggestions are appreciated. For the record, I've never dropped it or have a cracked screen or anything.

When restoring to factory defauls/new iPod does not solve a problem it is very likely a hardware problem,  an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My ipod touch screen is broken and whenever i press the lock screen button, the screen is white, what can i do to fix this?

so my ipod touch screen is broken, and whenver i try to unlock the ipod screen, all that i can see is the top right hand corner of my ipod, and the rest is all whited out. Also, the jack which support the headphones to stay in place, one of the balls in the jack is pushed in which causes the headphones and stereo jack to slip all the time. I also have a problem which is when i try to sync my ipod to itunes. Last time i did it(which was 4 years ago), i synced my ipod and i started out with 225 songs, after the syncing process was complete, i ended up with 119 songs. I'm afraid to resync my ipod or back up my ipod to a computer because i dont want to lose the wonderful collection of 589 songs i have now. I'd really appreciate it if i got some feedback. Thanks.

  • IPod Touch substituted for broken one

One of my iPod touches was destroyed.  I am now using a second one that also had an iTunes account.  I'd like the content from the broken iPod to be the content automatically loaded on the second one.  How do I set that up?

Look at the column on the left side.
Let it sync once and then do the selection and look for a button (extreme bottom right) to force a sync.

  • How do I access notes on an iPod Touch with a broken home button?

Hey guy, I have an older iPod Touch, and I am trying to gain access to about 800 quotes I had in the notes. The iPod let me get the first (latest) four, then blacked and exited the notes app. Now, it will no longer work, unless I try to add a  new note.  The home button is no longer working correctly, so I cannot reset it. Is there any way I can get Apple to email the quotes or something? I still have access to the settings, so I know version, model, serial number and all that. Any suggestions?

    - Try connecting the iPod to your computer and restore from backup.

    - Maybe you can extract them from the backup

    - Restore another iPod, iPad or iPhone from your backup. Maybe Apple can do that at one of their Genius Bar
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

I doubt it is worth the cost of getting an old 1G iPod fixed. Since there are very few apps that can be purchased now for the 1G

  • Is there a way to turn on an ipod touch with a broken power and home button?

I have an ipod touch 4th gen and the home and power button don't work plus the screen is shattered
I have to wait until christmas to get an iPhone bc I have no money atm
Aside from plugging it into a power source and having it turn on is there any other way to turn it on when I'm out?
I know that some phones turn on when you plug in or take out the headphones, are there any options like that?
I just need it for the next few weeks so there's no point in buying a new one right now
    thank you so much omg

No, As you know the only method is to connect the iPod to a charging source.Yo could purchase one of the portable charging source/battery packs and use the turn it on when yo are not home.

  • IPod Touch 5th Gen broken plastic frame

  • IPod Touch 1st Gen, Broken, with Product Service Plan. HELP, asap!

So, back in May 2008, I bought an 8GB iPod Touch.
Along with it, I bought a 5 year Product Service Plan.
Now, my iPod has had a lot of problems even after factory restoring.
I really want to get it fixed before I leave on a trip next month.
BUT, I'm unable to find the original receipt.
Is there a way that Best Buy has my receipt on file [a credit card was used] and verify that I was the original person who purchased the product?
    Thanks!

Yep. They can either look up the receipt by your CC# or you telephone number. Or you can wait and a community connector should be able to assist you.

I'm NOT an employee of Best Buy, or Geek Squad, though I did work as an Agent for a year 5 years ago. None of my posts are to be taken as the official stance that Best Buy will take on your situation. My advice is just that, advice.
Unfortunately, that's the bad luck of any electronic, there's going to be bad Apples... wait that's a horrible pun.

  • My 3rd 8GB iPod Touch has a broken screen.

It broke last night when it fell off my table. I bought it more than a year ago and I dont want to get a new one. Will Apple fix? If not How can I get it fixed? Thanks!

Apple does not repair them. They just exchange it with a refurb. Your model would cost $99.00. Check in the link below for third-party iPod service. You probably can get it fixed for under $70.00.

  • IPod touch 4g Screen broken

My iPod touch 4g fell out of my pocket,  i was sitting down and it litterally fell from about 2 feet off the ground, I had a case for it too, but the screen still managed to break. If i take it in to the local apple store will they be able to fix it or will i have to buy a new one? It is a black apple ipod touch 4g 8gb. Can they fix it? How much will it cost?

Since accidental damage is not covered by any warranty, you'll likely need to pay to have it serviced.  Here are your repair quotes.

  • Ipod touch 4g has broken pins and the hold button is defective, is it eligible for off warranty replacement  online it says it'd be $99.99

    i have an ipod touch 4g 16gb ios 6.1.5.
the dock port pins are damaged badly, music has not played for a while but is come and go now. dont know why (without headphones)
and the hold button doesn't work,  will apple still honor the "off warranty replacement thingy" i had issues with my old ipod (not dock issues)
i know they check the dock port on arrival, but i need to know if the ipod will qualify or not
    thanks in advance

Almost assuredly the answer is yes.  Take it to an Apple store for replacement or contact them using the Contact Us link at the bottom of this page.

  • Ipod Touch 4Gen has broken/bent charger port....

Alright so for a few weeks now my ipod has had odd time connecting to itunes and will not even really connect at all to my radio/dock, but luckily it still charges through the computer through the USB cord but it will connect/disconnect several times for awhile and other times it just stays connected. So I looked at the charger port and I noticed it has little metal wires that rest against a black plastic piece and part of the black part it rests on was broken off and in that area some of the metal wires were bent and one or two possibly were broken off but definitely had some bent ones. I typed in my serial number at apple's site and it said my limited warranty is still good for another week so I want to know if I can get it fixed for free if it covers it and if I can't get it fixed free than what is the cost for repairing that part?

If not caused by abuse, Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one at no cost. Otherwise the exchange price is $99, $149 or $199 depending upon the capacity.

  • Using my week 41 ipod touch! - Its broken!

I set up for a replacement today. All four corners had an even amount of pixels out which made any application look like the edges were rounded off. But this didn't show on the photo icon or while playing a video. I also had 3 bright pixels and a group of 10+ not as bight in a group on the bottom left. I only requested a replacement after the dark corners started to appear. Check your ipods for this! The apple phone support said it wasn't normal! You all can now discuss..
A question I did have though...What do I put in the return box before I send it in? Just the iPod? Or everything that came with it?
    Message was edited by: TalOrmanda

this same question came up earlier and the answer was that you just send in the defective hardware and nothing else the other stuff in the box (ie: earbuds, data cable) you can keep. I could be rong though, but this was the answer given earlier.
But you have 10 days to return the origional after you send in your request so i would wait until you get your replacement and see whats in that box, if its the touch by itself then just return your touch, if they sent you a new touch with data cable and earbuds then return your defective touch, datacable, and earbuds.
