IPod Touch 2g won't work at all

Hey guys,
I was recently on holiday and on the second day, my iPod went black. I couldn't switch it on and any attempts to charge it, didn't work. I wasn't too bothered because I only bought a cheap car adapter to charge it with, so I thought maybe that was the issue.
However, since returning, I still cannot get anything to work. I have tried charging it on my PC using the original cable. I've used a new cable I bought and tried a mains adapter, yet nothing has worked. The iPod isn't working at all.
I've been holding down the home and power button for 10+ seconds, to no avail. No matter how many times I've tried to switch it on, I get absolutely no response.
Before this more permanent problem, I did have an issue with the power button itself, where it was sticking. It had done this in the past though, but on this day, it was sticking more than usual, randomly asking me if I wanted to turn the iPod off completely.
Does anyone have any advice?
Thanks,
Jack

Yeah, I've looked around the internet and this doesn't seem uncommon. Surely there is some advice?
It's incredibly frustrating, to say the least.

  • IPod Touch 4G won't sync at all

My iPod Touch 4G won't sync at all when I plug it into a different computer. It'll warn "erase all content and replace it with this computer's library" or whatever that message is, so I click ok, then it'll say "preparing to sync (step 1 of 3)", then "determining apps to sync (step 2 of 3)", then nothing happens, whatever step 3 of 3 is doesn't even appear. Already authorized this computer, also did a hard reset.
    Does anyone know what's happening?
And "restore to factory settings" is the last thing I want to do so no need to answer with that. I doubt it's anything wrong with the iPod anyways as it synced fine the last time I used it, which was back in the iTunes 10.x days.

The message means that something happened to your computer files and now the iPod thinks that the iTunes library is a different library. You need to do the following:
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities
If all the synced media is already on the compute all yo have to do is backup the iPod and restore from that backup.

  • IPod touch 3G won't work after falling in water? Help!

Ok it's been 3 months since my iPod touch fell in the...toilet. I immediately put it in rice after pushing all the buttons. It was only in the water for a second. When I picked it up the screen was dim, flickering, then when black. I wiped it off and put it in rice. I left it in rice for about four days. I finally plugged it up to the charger and after 20 minutes it came on. It told me I needed to plug it up to iTunes so I did. I restored it and when it was restored I tried to slide the bar at the bottom of the screen but it would never register. So I let it die and when I charged it again it wanted me to restore it AGAIN! I've restored it about five times!! Each time the touch screen won't work and it doesn't hold a charge very well. Also every time it does it wants me to restore it. What's wrong with it and how can I fix it? Oh and the home button doesn't work.

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.

I dropped my ipod touch 5th gen on the floor and it shut down. i tried the recovery mode by pluggin it in the computer and itunes and even though it find it and shows me to restore it, it won't work all the way and on the screen there is the empty battery amd even though it's plugged in, it's not charging. and itunes says that can't find the software or device and can't do the restore. i asked somebody and they said that there musy be something broken inside, most likely something with the battery...what should i do? are there any chances for my ipod to be fixed?

    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • New iPod touch 4 won't work or restore after update

I got an iPod touch 4 in January. (I am using an H-P desktop, 3.0Ghz, 2.5 GB RAM, 250 GB HD, mostly empty, with Win XP home.) The first time there was an iOS software update available, it didn't work after the update and would not restore. After many tries, I finally got it working by restoring it on our macbook. At the time I figured it was just a fluke that it didn't work.
Now, with the latest iOS update, the same thing is happening. I have tried all the troubleshooting things on the dialog box that is linked to the iTunes box that comes up (several times). I also tried deleting the ipsw files that was suggested in a similar problem found in this forum. Nothing works! Unfortunately, the one year old macbook is now in the shop with problems so that route is nil. (Besides, it is supposed to work with this system!)
I really miss having my iPod! Anyone have any other suggestions?

  • IPod Touch location service doesnt work at all.

Hi guys, just having this issue, I have my iPod touch since 8 months ago, It worked fine, perfect. I upgrade it to iOS 5 and it worked fine, it was perfect.
But today the location service doesnt work, I triend with the google maps app, the Facebook and Twitter app and the location icon doesnt even appear in the screan, so I restart it and then I restore all the network configuration and the location warings, but the location service doesnt work.
I also tried to use Find my iPod on icloud.com but it says that couldn't locate it.
    Any idea?
    Thanks!

Hi Philly_Phan, Thanks for your help,
Today I went to my college and guess what? the location service was working perfectly again, but when I get home it didn't work, I was thinking about this:
I know iPod doesnt have a GPS, it use WiFi to find where you are, but, a week ago it was working fine at home, now it doesnt, the funny thing is that even if the iPod can not locate you, it should show the little location icon on the top of the screen. Dont you?
I mean, even if the iDevice can't find any know hotspot near, it should show the little icon. So, does the ipod connect to any server somewhere arround the world? or use any special port that maybe my router/ISP is blocking?
    Any idea?
    Thanks sooooo much!

  • Ipod Touch STILL won't work with Windows 64-bit

    Argh!
So, I've read the entries about the new Itunes 7.6, and how it should work with my Ipod Touch.
I uninstalled all my previous Itunes, and Quicktime software. I then installed the new Itunes64.exe. Everything worked fine.
But then, I connected by Itouch and it says "This Ipod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the Itunes installer to remove Itunes, the install the 64-bit version of Itunes."
I'm confused what the problem is. I just DID that!?! What do I need to do differently? Anyone have an idea?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
I’ve got the new version of Itunes (7.6.1) but I still get the error where it tells me to download and install a 64-bit version of Itunes. This is just ridiculous!!! I bought my IPOD touch before Christmas and i still haven’t been able to use it!
I've uninstalled and installed itunes and all that rubbish about 5-6 times now, i've deleted everything to do with Apple from my machine and also nearly killed my machine because i messed around with the registry (that's my fault :P)
NOTE: I used IE 64-bit version to download the installer.
Anyone have a solution to the problem?

  • My iPod touch 4g won't charge at all unless...

Ok so listen. My iPod the one with a camera on it will NOT charge ever or connect to iTunes ...I've tried multiple computers and I've tried re installing iTunes and I always use the newest version of iTunes. My iPod never ever has the little electric sign that it's charging but if I leave it on a USB wall charger over night it will have a full battery. But that doesn't even matter it's in recovery mode and just will not connect to iTunes  I know its not my charging cable I've tried 2 brand new ones and my old one   All from apple.  I cant use my iPod and it won't connect but it will charge if I do that ..so why won't it connect!!!!?

  • Ipod touch 2g won't charge at all

I left my ipod in my room and went to charge it and all of a sudden out of nowhere it wont charge.
I used 2 different usb cable cords to plug into my PC and then to both to my Apple wall charger.
it's almost as if the ipod has no idea it's being plugged into something. there's no response from the ipod.
when i plug it into the computer, itunes doesn't open up.
i also tried the whole turning off, turning back on thing, and waiting a while for it. nothing
can i declare this as a problem with the ipod charging area? is there a way to go around this with restoring the ipod? (I don't want to have to restore if it still won't work)
Anyone else have this problem? and were you able to solve this?
i saw on the apple site the repair cost for damaged hardware is $149 which is a bit much...
any help would be much appreciated!

update: i turned it off and just let it stay plugged into my wall charger. when i turned it back on a couple hours later the battery was more charged but when it would be turned on it would not continue to charge.
I noticed that when i would pull out the USB from the ipod a little bit when it's off and hold it in place while its halfway in, the apple logo would show up and the ipod would turn on.
    does this mean anything?

  • My Touch ID won't work at all on iOS 7.1.1

Last night, my Touch ID stopped working. I placed my finger on the sensor and nothing happened. I turned off the phone a few times and nothing happened. I tried deleting the fingerprints and making new ones and the sensor didn't even recognize the print to scan it.
Literally 30 minutes later, after I set a Genius Bar appt., it started working again, the scanner recognized my print to make new ones.
And now tonight, (the SAME EXACT time as last night) I am encountering the same problem
