IPod touch 2gen - Sound issue

Recently my iPod doesn't send any sound to the left headphone unless I press and hold the headphone jack in place. When i say press, i have to apply quite a bit of pressure. When i let go it stops sending sound to the left headphone again. It's not the headphones, as I've bought 3 pairs of headphones and received the same problem from all 3. So I've concluded the issue is the headphone port. Now I have to ask how am I supposed to go about fixing this? My iPod is still under it's 1 year warranty with apple. Any suggestions?

Clean out/blow out the headphone jack. Insert/remove the heaphone plug a dozen times or so
Try the following to rule out a software problem:

  • Ipod Touch Intermittent Charge Issues

I plug my ipod touch in to charge it up. The beep sounds and the indicator on the top of the screen shows the ipod is charging. After a couple of hours I remove the device from charge only to find it hasn't charged at all.
I do a full reset (hold both buttons until unit restarts) and normally this cures it. Occasionally I have to do two full resets , and once I had to do three full resets.
The problem is intermittent and happens about one time in three. You don't know it is not charging without waiting. It can happen if directly connected to a computer, ipod dock, or ac charger.
The battery holds a charge well. When it does charge, there is no problem.
Is this a battery problem or a software problem?

The root cause appears to be the battery however you may wish to eliminate the software portion of the doubt by running a RESTORE on your iPod. Keep in mind that when you RESTORE then all information that you installed will be erased and the iPod will get back to its factory settings. You can then re-install everything via iTunes.
IF the issue persists after RESTORE then I would get the battery replaced.

  • IPod Touch Email Connection Issues (Cox)

I would appreciate any guidance. I have a system running XP SP2, with a Motorola cable modem (Cox internet provider), and a Linksys router. I just set-up my 32GB Ipod touch - and wireless Safari access is working great.
I'm trying to set-up Cox email, and can't get it running. I keep getting "Secure Connection Failed. The certificate for <my email address> may be invalid." on my iPod touch. I use Outlook Express on my PC and am simply duplicating the settings on my iPOD. I'm thinking I may be missing something simple. Here are my iPOD touch settings:
    Name: <Entered My Name>
    Address: <Entered My Email Address>
    Description: <Entered My Chosen Description>
    INCOMING MAIL SERVER:
    Host Name: pop.west.cox.net
    User Name: <Entered My Username>
    Password: <Entered My Password>
    OUTGOING MAIL SERVER:
    Host Name: smtp.west.cox.net
    User Name: <Not required - leave blank>
    Password: <Not required - leave blank>
Once I save the settings I get the error.
Any thoughts, or guidance? Has anyone heard of problems getting email working with Cox as a provider?
    Thanks Again - Brett

hmm a quick google search might help you. (search before you ask)

"I called Apple support regarding this issue today and managed to get my problem resolved. When I went to add a new mail account it gave me the same error posted above... however, if you click "Continue" and wait about 2-3 minutes (yes, minutes) the iPod will come back and ask you if you want to try creating the mail account without SSL. Another window will come up after about 2 minutes confirming that it cannot create an account with SSL, and then prompt you again if you want to go ahead and create the non-SSL account. You click yes, wait ANOTHER 2 minute and voila. It jumps back to the main settings screen and you have a working mail account.
Their support representative said it sounded like they would be releasing a patch in the future to make this easier (and reduce the timeout for SSL testing so you don't have to wait so long)."

  • 2nd gen Ipod touch no sound

    Hi,
I've got a 2G ipod touch that plays no sound whatsoever. The weird thing is that when I play music, the song resets and goes back to the music menu. I've already reset it multiple times and it's no longer under warranty. Could it be a hardware problem>

Actually its kinda quite normal. I have an iPod 2nd Generation that had that same problem and it ain't no hardware problem, it's a feature from the iPod. Since it's different from the iPod 4G, whenever you close an app, it will lose its memory and you'll have to play the music again. It's normal.
Different issue actually, not that usic must be started AGAIN, can't start it in first place. When you select the song the cover or title flashes, then reverts to menu or list. Also no sounds work including system sounds. Think of it as set to MUTE without setting it to MUTE. Is there a way to set or unset ITouch 2nd to mute?

  • Ipod Touch Vista driver issues

Wow I have had a bad time trying to get my new ipod touch to work with vista 64
At first my ipod touch was recognizing as a digital camera, now I can get it to recognize as an ipod but when I look at the ipods driver details I see a bunch of crap but not usbaapl64.sys. (I use vista 64 ultimate). Should usbaapl64.sys be listed when you click driver details? See pic. Does peoples driver info match mine?
I tried dragging usbaapl64.sys into a folder on my desktop and tried to direct vista to this folder but every time it says "the best driver software for your device is already installed" then lists "digital still camera". When I point it to system32/drivers, the only recognized driver is "digital still camera" also. I searched for usbaapl64 and indeed it is in the driver folder.
This is driving me crazy, when I get the ipod to become recognized I load up itunes and says I need 64 bit version, which is what I have installed already!
    help please
Here is a pic of all the problems
    http://img530.imageshack.us/img530/3443/ffffffffffffffffxk7.jpg

We love the ipod touch; friends love their iphones, several of which bought them after seeing my ipod touch. From December through January I manipulated playlists at will, but no more!
Since one of the February updates, I have seen only grey inaccessible playlists on the ipod in itunes. I have spent farrr toooo much time on this, reading posts, trying this that...sleep is kind of important on occasion. The camera issue sounds like a red herring, looks that way too. My Vista 32 bit sees the ipod under portable devices and has given it a camera driver dated in 2006, but also sees a usb with the usbaapl.sys. I still don't find the usbaapl.inf anywhere after numerous installation/deinstallation/reinstallation rectomoniaie.
This is a reflection on the whole world economy issue: managers rush to the big bucks and disregard the customer, so we run good effort after bad to correct problems that need not be in the first place, and too often cannot solve them. They build so much profit into everything that everybody gets gouged when they buy and gouged again when something updates and does not work, or does not update then quits working.
We have an ipod shuffle 2G that died and none of the apple solutions help anything. At least I have lots of good songs on the touch, even if I cannot add more. For certain, though, I will make certain that everybody inclined to buy Apple will know these issues. Oh...most are already set against Vista!
Yes, I will continue looking for solutions and will post something if it works...hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hhhooooooo

  • IPod touch 5 lag issue running iOS 8.1 ( PLEASE RESOLVE THIS ASAP)

OMG, i'm just fed up of using this iPod 5 after this new update of apple's iOS 8.1.  I did checkout iOS 8.1.1 but as it bought no changes to the performance i just downgraded it back to iOS 8.1. Well performance really matters on a device. The day i updated it to iOS 8, my iPod 5's performance has been sluggish and worse when compared to the old iOS 7.1.2 . If i had chance to downgrade it now i would do it asap but unfortunately there isn't any way but to suffer with this new sluggish iOS 8.1. If there is someway that apple can help us then its by increasing the performance on such A5 devices like iPhone 4S, iPad..., iPod touch 5, then please help us. If i ask this question "Is there anyway to increase or speed up my performance of my iPod 5", Then the reply from you people would be to either buy a new device by dumping this or to remove background apps, reduce motion etc. (WHICH I HAVE ALREADY DONE.) and the performance is WORSE or UNBEARABLE  on this device after updating to iOS 8 - iOS 8.1. When i just tap settings it takes about 3 - 4 secs or more to show up which is too bad. Please try to solve this issue on older devices running A5 chip by either giving us an another opportunity to downgrade to iOS 6 or 7 (PLEASE) or by improving this current OS performance issue just like iOS 7. I request you to solve this issues for the people like us who are an APPLE fan and still using devices running A5 chip and we just like it so much but please don't let us hate it by making it's performance worse. Yes, i do know that the all new iOS 8 was made for the newer devices running new CHIP, but then why did the update just come up for devices running A5 chip then if it would ruin the performance? Or was this is a marketing strategy to make our device's performance unbearable and worse so we hate it and buy a new device so you can increase your sales? Everyone cannot afford a device just like that as time goes. I further pledge you people to solve this sluggish performance issue on these older device who got this iOS 8 updates (RUNNING A5 chip).
Thank You for your time for reading my message.

  • Ipod Touch 4G sound messed up

So my iPod Touch 4g is about 1.5 years old. There was a while where I wouldn't have earbuds or headphones, so I didn't listen to music for a while. Then I got my car that has an aux port. I plugged in my iPod and played music just fine. But, I just bought a pair of skull candies and when I plug them in and try to play music, the music sounds weird. Let's try Whistle by Flo Rida. Right now, in the beginning, I can hear the guitar, but the whistle is very faint and hard to hear. And the little bass beat in the back, I can't hear that at all. Flo Rida at first sounds just fine, but in the verses, His voice sounds monotone, but the background voices come through. The only part that sounds like it should is the "can you blow my whistle" part. Other than that, It's all messed up. I know it's not the earbuds, cause they work just fine in my laptop, same song, same iTunes library. In the settings on my iPod, I've got it set for no sound check, and no EQ.
Now for the weird part, I can get it to sound just fine. All I have to do is go into the accessibility settings and change the balance to either the right or the left. and the second I take it off center, everything sounds fine. Sound's even coming out of both earbuds at the same time/volume (mono doesn't do this, it just gets extremely quiet). But there are songs that utilize both left and right channels, and changing the balance, makes it so I can only hear the left or right side of the song. That's not right. Changing the balance should make it so sound only comes from the left or right earbud, not left or right side of a song. Like in "Good Feeling" by Flo Rida 2:43 into the song, with the techno thing going on (my favorite part, I just like how they do it) I can only hear one side of it, out of both earbuds.
I'm going to do a full restore on my iPod (haven't had the time to, and I really don't want to, as I don't want to lose anything.) and if that fixes anything, I'll post it. If I don't then feel free to post your own opinion, and I'll give it  a shot.

  • 1st gen iPod touch wifi connection issue, grayed out wifi area in settings

I have a first generation iPod touch and I'm having difficulty connectiong to wifi.  It tells me there is "no wifi" and the wifi area in settings is grayed out.  I have never encountered this problem in the seven months I've owned this device.  My wifi is currently being used by the other three devices that normally share it with my iPod, and they're running just fine as usual.  I've already tried restoring my iPod, as well as updating my iTunes to the newest possible software, then restarting the computer.  I've looked through all of Apple's troubleshooting guides, to no avail.  Any tips from people who've had the same issue or actually understand technology?  All help is greatly appreciated!
