IPod touch 2nd gen won't connect to WiFi

I just bought iPod touch 16GB 2nd gen and I'm having trouble with using some WiFi networks. I can use unsecured networks, but I am unable to use ANY protected networks. Whenever I try, it asks me for the password, I enter it and then it gives me 'unable to connect' error. I try the same thing with my laptop and it works like a charm. I checked support part of apple.com website but I couldn't find any useful information. Anyone knows a solution for this? Should I contact apple?

My 2nd Gen iPod Touch would not connect to our guest WEP network at work. I run WPA at home and it works fine. As an experiment, I switched home back to WEP (128 bit) and it connected fine. HOWEVER, this was when I configured the router to use the hex key in slot 1. I could never connect when I configured it to use slots 2, 3, or 4. Rumor has it that some folks choose the key in slots 2,3, or 4 for some misguided reason of thinking that this is more secure than using slot 1. In reality, all WEP is insecure (but maybe better than nothing). Check which slot your router is using for the key. Still the Touch should work regardless of WEP slot used. Those at work with 1st gen Touch's have no problem while those with 2nd gen simply do not work on the WEP network (despite both set of users being on the 2.2 iPod s/w version). Hope this helps and I hope Apple has a fix. Otherwise I have to go do battle with corporate IT.

  • Ipod touch 2nd gen won't connect to wifi/internet

I have an Ipod gen 2 and I recently stopped using it for about a month. I turned it back on to find NO way to get it to connect to the wifi. I have restarted my device several times as well as my router/modem, and I have restored network settings. It says that it is connected to wifi like normal, but when i go into my apps it says there is no internet connection. I have surfed around trying to find a solution but nothing is working. Please help (and please do not tell me to go to an Apple store to get it fixed).

  • TS1398 My ipod touch 2nd gen won't connect to the internet :(

Whenever i try connecting, i put in the password and it says that it is unable to connect. I've tried turning both the ipod and the wifi off and back on again, I've reset my connection settings, I've double checked the password, I've done verything short of taking it to an Apple store and getting them to look at it. My brother bought this new gaming computer, and it was taking up a lot of the band width, making the internet really really slow. We also recently switched internet, from BT to Virgin, although everything was working fine until my brother got his computer. The other day, my ipod came up with a message saying that it couldn't connect to the internet, when it's been working fine five inutes earlier. This sometimes happened with our old internet, so I just did what I used to, and made my ipod forget our internet, and re-entered the password. This used to work, but this time, it just said that it was unable to connect. It's done this ever time I've put in the password since (about ten times a day -_-), een when there's no other electronic devices on, just my ipod and the router. All the other computers, laptops, and my btoyhers phone and ipod 4th gen are connecting fine, but my ipod and blackberry just won'connect. I've tried everythin I can think of, please help!

    You can try:
    - reset:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off an then backon your router

  • Ipod Touch 4th gen won't connect to wifi

    Hi there,
my ipod touch finds my wifi connection alright, but won't it connect to it. It keeps loading on and on but in the end it never does. I can't reset or access the router because I live in a student accomodation flat. I've tried switching it off and back on again and the same happens every time. Strange thing is that my flatmates iphone connects just fine and so does my pc. Any suggestions?

  • My iPod Touch 2nd generation won't connect to the Internet

After restoring my iPod Touch 2nd gen to factory settings because that's what iTunes advised me to do after doing the iTunes update a week ago, my iPod won't connect to the internet anymore. I was able to connect to our wifi but it won't go to any website, to iTunes, etc. I'm 100% sure the problem isn't our wifi because I'm using it right now with my laptop so it's not the wireless problem. Before restoring my iPod to factory settings iti has always worked and I never had a problem connecting it. I tried restoring it again but it still didn't work. I already also reset our router but still no luck. I wish someone could help me asap!! Thank you.

  • IPod touch 2nd gen won't let me get Apps

    Hi,
I have an iPod Touch 2nd gen that is operating 4.2.1, and it no longer has App Store, or iTunes. This means that I cannot download any apps or even access music downloads. I have synced with the newest version of iTunes, and the App section is grayed so I cannot access it there either. Therefore, my Touch is reduced to an mp3 player, and I didn't pay for an iPod to just play music! Any suggestions??

Sounds like Apps have been restricted.  Head to Settings -> General -> Restrictions and make sure they are turned off.

  • After iOS5 upgrade, iPod touch 2nd gen won't let me edit calendar events

I have an iPod touch 2nd gen with the old processor, so I'm stuck using iOS 4.2.1 on the touch.
Meanwhile, I have a MacBook and new iPad running Lion/iOS 5.
Before I upgraded to iOS 5, I could edit calendar events from either my macbook or from my Touch.  Now, I can't edit calendar events on the Touch, and when I add new ones from the Touch, the options are restricted (e.g., I can't designate which calendar the item belongs to).
Please help!  This functionality is very important to me because I take the Touch to work, but not my other mac devices, so I need to be able to edit on the go.
    Thanks,

  • IPod Touch (4th generation) won't connect to wifi! Please help!

My iPod Touch (4th generation) won't connect to my house wifi that it's always connected to. I tried forgetting the network, and putting the password in again, several times. I've tried restarting my iPod, turning the wifi on & off, and also turning the router off and back on but none of this has helped. After I forgot the network and typed the password back in it just kept saying 'loading' and eventually it stops loading but still doesn't connect. It also shows other peoples wifi's but I haven't tried to connect to theres to see if it works. It just started doing this yesterday at this other place I was at but i just figured it was their wifi because when I got home that night it worked just fine but today it started doing it again at my house and I don't know what to do. Please Help!

  • IPod Touch 4th Gen won't connect to my computer, charge or connect to iTunes.

Okay, here is the issue. My computer runs Windows Vista. Ever since I have updated iTunes to 11.0.2, my iPod touch hasn't been able to connect to the computer at all. I don't know if there is any correlation between the update and my issue, but I need someone to be the judge of that. Apple has suggested that you uninstall iTunes, QuickTime, etc. restart the computer and then reinstall them. So I have done that multiple times, and my iPod still won't connect to the computer. My sister's iPod touch, 4th gen just like mine won't connect to iTunes or the computer either. I have spent a lot of time looking up possible solutions, but none of them work at all. I've done everything Apple suggests in troubleshooting and such, but nothing works. I was hoping someone else might be able to give me a solution. One that hopefully does not involve uninstalling and reinstalling Apples programs, which I have done several times.
I have tried all accessable USB ports on my computer, and I have switched between the four different USB cords that we have, so this isn't the issue. My PS Vita will connect to the computer with no issue at all, so it isn't the USB ports either. I can plug my iPod Touch into my PS3 and it will charge the instant I plug either end of the cable in, the same for my sister's. I can plug it into the dock on my mother's alarm clock and it will charge just fine. I'm open to any suggestion, so please help me out here.

    So you tried everything here:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
If you  have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar
Try connecting to another computer to help determine if you have an iPod or computer problem.

  • IPod touch (4th gen) won't connect to my wifi after being lost

I lost my iPod touch (4th gen) yesterday so "locked" it using iCloud. The nice folks at the vet office found it and I retrieved it today. Noticed it wasn't actually locked, could listen to podcasts and open apps right away, and it syncs fine when I connect it to my computer. But it won't rejoin my home wifi, doesn't even ask for password, just says unable to join. Network is fine, or I wouldn't be able to leave this question! Thanks for any help...

  • Ipod Touch 4th Gen won't connect to my wifi

I just got home from work and tried to go on my Ipod touch 4th gen to see if I got any new emails and to facetime my fiance. I check my ipod to reconnect to my wifi router and it hasn't connected(bare in mind it was connecting to my wifi fine before i left the house this morning). I went to my settings on my ipod and then to my wifi to seeif it would connect like it used to. nothing happened. I looked up all of the info i could hard reseting my ipod, resetting my network settings, turning on and off the wifi, forgetting the network and re-entering it and it still has that circle infinitely spinning around next to the name of my home wifi. My wifi works on my laptop my ipod is just refusing to reconnect with my wifi. THis is upsetting and fristrating... Does anyone have any idea for how I can solve my problem?

  • IPod Touch 4th Gen No Longer Connects to WiFi

Tonight I've been watching videos via the new Youtube app (from the appstore, since the one that comes with iPod is no longer available). I was watching a Youtube video when the battery on my iPod touch ran out. I connected the charger, the iPod turned on, and it suddenly won't connect to my WiFi anymore. I have other devices that connect to the WiFi with no issues. What happens is I go to my WiFi settings, and select my router as the access point, and a rotating loading icon appears next to my access point's name, 'belkin54g'. But the loading icon never goes away, and as a result doesn't connect to WiFi. I recently upgraded to iOS 6 if that helps. This WiFi connection has always worked fine on this iPod touch, so I have no idea as to why it decided to crap out on me.
