IPod touch 2nd generation music problem

Ok so my iPod touch music suddenly wont work through speakers. The notifications and clicks work but the music will not play through my speakers. The volume slider appears when I plug in my headphones and music works fine but when I remove my headphones the music will not play through the speakers. Earlier I played a video through a website and it worked fine. Now the volume rocker wont even work.
Tried reset and restore and it is fully updated. It is not under warranty so this is my only option.

You said you restored the iPod.  If you only restored the iPod from backup. try restoring to factory defaults/new iPod.  If that does not solve ythe problem you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod touch 2nd generation memory problem?

I bought a used iPod touch 2nd generation from Gamestop. The back of the ipod says it's 8GB. But when I connect it to iTunes, it says 6.5GB. I tried restoring it and everything. Is that normal?

100% normal!! The iOS takes up part of that memory so it is normal to be 6.5GB.

  • Ipod touch 4th generation music problem

ok so i got the new update of the ios 5, but ever since i gotten it my music has been messed up, i would touch a song and it would display it but it wont play it at all or it will skip to the next song (sometimes the song doesnt go with the album picture) so obviosly something is wrong? what should i do? is it just the ios update?

Facing exactly the same problems on my ipod touch 4/64GB. Also since upgrading to ios5 my other memory shot up to 10.1 GB - previously at less than 1 GB. Hope that Apple is dealing with it because it's definitely a problem with the software.

  • IPod Touch 2nd Generation iOS4 Problems

Okay, I have an iPod touch 2G 16GB, since upgrading to iOS4 my ipod's suffered numerous crashes, it started off whilst playing games but has now decided to do it when listening to music also.
Basically what happens is the screen will flash white and then the display disappears turning the device off. Then when I try to turn it back on it won't work, not even hard resets work. I have to wait hours before tryin another 4 or 5 times before it gets going again.
The device hasn't been jail broken, I've restored it and reinstated everything but I'm at a loss here.
    Any help would be appreciated
    Thanks
    Dann

I am having similar problems, except it doesn't take hours it just returns me to my home screen. Also many apps won't even begin to play. I have updated some of my games and things with versions they claim are iOS4 compatible but they still have issues from time to time. It's very obviously a iOS4 problem or just a problem with every app available at the moment. Either way I think we can say this is a huge FAIL on apple's part to bring this out either to early or at all. I was planning on getting a new Iphone 4 but after these problems I can see why a lot of people are starting to buy Droid and I will be looking into buying one of those too.

  • IPod Touch 2nd Generation Music Won't Display in Certain Genres.

I have been having this issue for a couple months now and not every "Genre" category has this problem. Please help.
I have certain Genre's that I recently added to my iTunes library; Drum & Bass, Trap, etc..
In my iTunes library on my PC, all songs that are categorized under these genres are visible, but when I view these genres in the "Genre" category on my iPod, it's not on display.
When I click on the genre "Drum & Bass" and then I click on "All Albums" on my iPod, it says "No Music"
Not every genre category is like this, just new genres that I have recently added.
Anyone else have this problem? I have a feeling of deep alienation.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • Ipod Touch 2nd Generation Speaker Problem

So I've had my Ipod touch second gen for over a year now and i had to replace it once because the power button got jammed. Now I have a new one (which I got exchanged) and my warrenty is over now, and now my speakers are messed up. I cannot increase or decrease the volume. The volume sign for speakers show up and it just frozen with zero squares but when i play a sound it's insanely loud. I can't change the volume and it is really p i s s i n g me off. If I plug my headphones in everything works fine but when i disconnect them the sound is at max and cannot be changed. If i try and go to music or videos my ipod freezes and glitches out. If i go to the sound settings my ipod shuts off. If i am listening to a song with my headphones on it works but as soon as i disconnect it, its freezes and shuts off. I have rebooted, resetted, and even restored it as a new ipod and from my backups. I can't do anything now. My warrenty is gone and apple said they will not let me purchase warrenty now that its expired and they won't even fix it even if there is a cost. THIS IS SO CRAP! Any help please?

100% normal!! The iOS takes up part of that memory so it is normal to be 6.5GB.

  • Problems syncing iPod Touch (2nd generation) with iMac under Mountain Lion

When syncing my iPod Touch (2nd generation) with my iMac (under Mountain Lion) the entries in my diaries/agendas do not sync. Apps and music sync without a problem. What must I do?

I have this problem.. and after spending time at the Genius Bar yesterday, I discovered that my old ipod touch is obsolete..( the Ipod touch is a 32.bit system, while the newer operating system is 64... so they're simply not compatible.)
I expressed great dismay that my perfectly good ipod touch was now obsolete...  then the genius suggested I export my contacts and calendars to Google..
That was easy to do, and then, on the Google community forum i learned about nuevasync.com, which lets you synch all of this back to your ipod touch via Exchange.
    WOrked like a charm.
Nuevasync. com is free for an initial trial (10 days?) and then costs only 15$ per YEAR.. so I'll use this as a good work-around

  • There is a problem with the left headphone or stereo  headphone jack connection in the ipod touch 2nd generation

I have had my ipod touch 2nd generation for 3 yrs. Now its been a year with this problem but i never seem to get it fixed because i lost my warranty and repair certificate a year ago. So  the problem is whenever I put in a headphone jack for some reason only the right head phone or right speaker works not the left, but when i place the ipod on the docking port both speakers on my stereo work.
Now I have taken great care of this thing. Never lost it. I assume that a connection inside the jack port is pushed in from debrie (forgot how to spell that word)  because, I always place my ipod into my pocket. The only way to get the left speaker or headphone to work is to push on the headphone jack so it tilts, then the left speaker works; but when i release it the left speaker or headphone turns off or stop making sound. So i know its not wiring problems its the connection for the headphone jack to the ipods jack's connection for the left speaker. Though microphones work.
My question is can this be a DIY or do i have to take it in to a local apple store. Problem i lost the warranty and protection repair form or license 2 years ago. I have had no problems with my ipod at all these years until this problem has consisted to happen since last year.
    Anything?
    Thanks,
    Sigma119

    - If you want to replace the headphone jack yourself see:
    iPod Touch Repair - iFixit
    - Apple will only exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price, You get a new battery.  However, it may not be worth it for a 2G iPod.

  • Is it possible to sync an Ipod touch 2nd generation to itunes to download music?

I have been trying to sync my Ipod touch 2nd generation to itunes and it says its completed, but then the music doesn't transfer to the device and I know I can't upgrade to IOS 5  so is it impossible to download music to it?  I just bought it today used to $54  so I am growing incredibly frustrated.

Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Does any media now sync to the iPod?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

  • My daughters Ipod touch 2nd generation has been freezing today.  We have updated, restored etc and will not play any music as in no sound coming from it. It is almost fully charged and played ok 2 days ago. Any suggestions?

My Ipod touch 2nd generation has been freezing today.  We have updated, restored etc and now it will not play any music - as in no sound coming from it.  It looks as if it is playing, but no sound comes out. It played ok 2 days ago. Any suggestions?

So, here is an update to my original question, in case anyone else has this issue. I spoke with a senior adviser at apple, who had me use the "devmgmt.msc" command in the search line of Windows 7; after expanding the USB controllers menu, she had me uninstall/delete the "apple mobile device driver" and then open "control panel" and "uninstall programs." Once the menu of programs was open, she had me highlight the program "apple mobile device controller", then repair it, and restart the computer. This fixed the issue and the iPod synced.
However, just one day ago, when I plugged in both the iPod, then the iPad (not at the same time), I get the message that "this library has already been synced to another iPod/iPad or other IOS device." It then asked if I wanted to set up as a new device or from restore of previous. That is wher I am right now; I am trying to get the same apple adviser again to discuss the case number. More to follow.

  • HT1430 i recieved an ipod touch 2nd generation as a gift and they have reset it to factory settings and now its stuck on a screen showing an adaptor with itunes music symbol on it. I do not know where to go from here.

I recieved an apple ipod touch 2nd generation as a gift and they have reset it to factory settings and now it is stuck on a screen with an adaptor showing with the itunes music symbol at the top of the screen.

    Restore...
Connect via cable to the computer that you intend to use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore and you have IOS-6 or lower, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

  • If I update my iPod Touch 2nd generation's iOS 4.2.1 to 4.3 what problems will appears?

I need iOS 4.3 to play new games but I afraid because I don't know it won't be too slow.
    Please help me. Thanks!

iOS 4.2.1 is the highest level that still supports the iPod Touch 2nd Generation so this isn't possible.

  • Ipod touch 2nd generation completely black and won't charge

I have an ipod touch 2nd generation. I had it connected to an aux cord, playing music, and on the charger and then it turned off. The ipod felt hot right by the charger port. The screen is completely black. I tried holding down the sleep and home buttons, charging the ipod for a very long time on my laptop in all the usb ports and in the outlet in the wall. The ipod just stays black. It doesn't say if it's charging and when I plug it into my laptop, it doesn't show up on itunes or my computer. Please help!!!

    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
