Ipod touch 2nd generation with NO wifi after restore to factory settings
I think we have a 2nd Gen. ipod touch... it was the last version before cameras. We took our ipod touch in today to set it back to factory settings got it hook up to itunes and now there is NO wifi available under settings it says wifi not highlighted and than NO WI FI. we were able to connect before so i know this version has it. Just not sure how to get that back on the ipod. Thanks for any help you can offer!!
Try here. However, it is frequently a hardware problem an an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I have this problem.. and after spending time at the Genius Bar yesterday, I discovered that my old ipod touch is obsolete..( the Ipod touch is a 32.bit system, while the newer operating system is 64... so they're simply not compatible.)
I expressed great dismay that my perfectly good ipod touch was now obsolete... then the genius suggested I export my contacts and calendars to Google..
That was easy to do, and then, on the Google community forum i learned about nuevasync.com, which lets you synch all of this back to your ipod touch via Exchange.
WOrked like a charm.
Nuevasync. com is free for an initial trial (10 days?) and then costs only 15$ per YEAR.. so I'll use this as a good work-around -
I have an Ipod touch 2nd generation with version 4.2.1 IOs and it is no longer recognized as a device when I plug into my computer. This means I can not change synch settings - any ideas on what I need to do ?

All you can do is get a newer model iPod. The 2G can only go as high as 4.2.1. Its hardare does not support a higher iOS version

iPod touch 2nd gen can go up to 4.2.1.
iPod touch 3rd or 4th gen can go up to 5.0.1 (and future updates). -

I upgraded my iPod touch 2nd gen to iOS 4 and then 4.1. Ever since then it is noticeably slower than it was with 3.1. I know Apple does not support "downgrading", but would this scenario work? My son has not upgraded to iOS4 yet. Would it work if I connect to his account using my iPod to get back to iOS3?
1. Connect to his account and "reset to factory settings"
2. Select to manage music (sync) manually (Don't know if this step is needed).
3. Go back to my account and sync. I would get my music, photos, etc back.
I would probably have to set up my email accounts again.If it's out of warranty, do a Google search on downgrading it.

I have an IPOD Touch 2nd Generation with a 4.2.1 IOS. How can I update to the IOS 6?
I have a 2nd generation IPOD Touch and I am having 2 problems. One is the button on top. I cannot get it to mash with the circle on the front of the IPOD to do a hard reboot of my system. The 2nd problem is that I cannot update my IPOD from IOS 4.2.1 to IOS 6. Can anyone offer me any suggestions. Thanks!
You need a newer model iPod, a 4G or 5G. The 2G can only go to iOS 4.2.1

How can I sync contacts in my address book to my iPod Touch 2nd Generation with iTunes 10.5.2?
My iPod Touch with OS 4.2.1 will no longer sync contacts from my address book on my computer now that I've upgraded to iTunes 10.5.2 and to Lion. I have ensured that the iPod Touch is set to synchronize all my contacts. The calendar continues to sync.
I have the same situation. I believe I disconnected iCloud by going into preferences and also unclicking the box for Contacts. What am I missing?

When I plug the usb cord into the ipod touch and my macbook pro and then open iTunes, the sync screen on the ipod doesn't show up and iTunes says that the iPhone is sending an invaild message. What should I do to remedy the problem so I can sync my iPod with my iTunes library?

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

What does it mean when my iPod Touch 2nd Generation wont turn on after factory reset?
My iPod started having quirks and not playing my music. Well it would say it was playing but it displayed the now playing as if it was plugged into a USB system on a car. So I factory reset it and now it only displays the apple logo and won't do anything else.
Thats the same with me but mines a 4th gen. I reset to factory settings and it stays on the apple logo with a gray lined circle on it. Plz help! I should be taking it into apple within the next few days and hopefully that will help.

IPod Touch 2nd Gen not loading up after restore
Hey guys,
I plugged my iPod into my PC today and it asked if I wanted to update it, I pressed ok and it said my PC didn't have enough HDD space to back up all the files and that I couldn't update the iPod. I figured I would just clean my iPod out completely and then install the update after, after going into my iPods settings and resetting it to factory condition I waited a couple hours for the it to delete everything it just sits at the loading screen with the apple logo on it then resets itself after a few minutes and goes back to the logo again, it's done this over and over. I have no idea what to do D:
Any advice on how to solve my iPods problem would be greatly appreciatedI looked in the Videos app. No videos on the ipod touch, but when the ipod is connected to itunes, it shows that the videos are loaded. Please help.

I have an IPOD Nano 4th Generation 8GB and am unable to restore it back to factory settings even when it is connected to my MAC. I have tried the menu/select hold but is not doing anything. When connected to the MAC and select restore in itunes it comes up with 'Firmware Corrupt'. It also states the IPOD is up to date. I have the latest operating system on my MAC and wonder if this may be part of the issue?
Can anyone shed light as to what i can do to reset it back to factory settings as would like to sell it and ensure it is ready for the new owner.

My IPod it telling me to restore factory settings. I know this will cause me to lose all of the music on it so far. How can I get the music off of it before I restore the settings? I really do not want to lose thousands of songs.
What is telling you that and what is the wording?

Can you transfer iTunes purchases by:

If not then there is nothing you can do except restore the iPod and thus erase the iPod. -
Is there any way to get an older version of the app that can be compatible or to "copy" the app from one iPod to the other?
Or maybe to update the opperating system??you can by downloading iTunes to your computer/laptop but before plugging it in to the computer make sure all of your apps are on it then just sync the restored iPod to your computer and all of the apps on the computer will go to your iPod.. Good Luck
