IPod Touch 2nd generation won't turn on and won't show up under Devices on my iTunes.

Question

I was trying to restore my iPod touch because it was locking itself and flashing. When I tried to restore it, the iPod turned itself off completely and won't turn back on. I've tried pressing the lock button and the home button at the same time, and I can't do anything from my computer because my iPod isn't showing up under Devices or Computer. If I put it in the USB port it opens iTunes, but isn't showing that it's plugged in. I have used different USB cords, switched USB ports, and tried charging the iPod, but it still won't turn on. Please help!

Apple offers two options for iPods that are not eligible for warranty service (see below). You will need to provide credit card details for these services. If you do not have a credit card, please take your iPod to your local Apple Retail Store.
iPod Out-of-Warranty Battery Replacement Program: If your iPod requires service only because the battery's ability to hold an electrical charge has diminished, you can have the battery replaced for a service fee by using the Online Service Assistant or at your local Apple Retail Store. Alternatively, you can contact Apple Technical Support.

Out-of-Warranty Service: If your iPod requires service for any other hardware failure that is determined by Apple to be repairable, Apple will service your iPod for the Out-of-Warranty Repair Service fee.
