IPod touch 3 volume and date problem

My cousin was using my iPod touch 3 when she came to visit. Now she's gone only one side of the volume works in earbuds which is the right. without earuds it sounds like the left side. Also the date and time keeps missing up. ex. my iPod touch 4 ran out battery this morning so I used my ipod touch 3. it said it was 10 minutes behind on normal time ,and that it was Jan,7 1972. It'll be fine for the next hour or less then flip back to the date.
Any suggestions?
~thanks

The iPod only has one speaker so there is no left or right.
- Have yu tried another pair of headphones to determine if you have an iPod or headphone problem.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod
If still problem that indicates a problem with the iPod, likely the headphone jack is bad.

  • Ipod Touch-Wifi and Registry problems

I just got my Ipod touch a few days ago, and every time I try to go on the internet, I select my network, enter the password, and it says "unable to connect." Also, whenever I hook up my ipod to itunes, it asks me to register the ipod, even though I've done it already.
Are these problems related? Any advice on how to fix either?
    Thanks!

I have a similar problem; in XP my iPod Touch SAYS unable to connect but it actually does in Bootcamp XP, however in OSX it will not. Odd thing is, I think my friend's iPod Touch did connect to my MBP in OSX. Oh, I use the MBP to share a wireless internet signal using the Sprint EX720 Expresscard, so sorry if my story seemed confusing. I will get together with my friend later this evening to check this out and determine if there is a defect in my iPod, if hers works. Otherwise at other Wifi hotspots I usually get on without problems.

  • IPod touch restore and data corruption

My iPod touch has a strange weird sync/restore.  My iPod touch started to act weird, apps started crashing, other issues started happening.
I restarted my iPod, several times.  It didn't fix the issue.
So I restored.  And that didn't work, it made the issue worse.  (I synced before I restored =D.)
Some of the apps came back on the iPod, without their app data.
Some apps came back, but crashed every-time I opened them.  Some apps didn't even come back!
Most of the issues were fixed.  My global settings didn't "come" back either.  Issues are coming back now, such as a delay when unlocking, a lit black screen when unlocking, apps hang, black squares appear where redraw regions are, pictures disappear sometimes.  Bookmarks appear most of the time.  Safari freezes almost all of the time.  Total lockup.
I'm wondering if this is a hardware issue, or a corrupted backup issue.  I have a second gen IPod touch running iOS 4.1 not jail broken.  I'd like to fix it, and if I get a new iPod touch I'd like to have all of the data on my old one if possible.  I'm using a Mac with lion installed to sync my iPod.  The issues started happening before I upgraded to lion.

I think the best thing you should do is send the broken iPod Touch back to the store and see what thety say. You can try to reinstall iTunes because sometimes those files may get corrupt,  try to put it into DFU Mode ( Read Here http://forum.pocketables.net/showthread.php?t=566) for how-to's. and Restore it again, basically with DFU mode it disables your iPod and you can only activate again by restoring it. Most of the time Jailbreaking is the cause of the issue but i see that you did not jailbreak your device. Sending it back is definitly the best choice because either they fix it, or give you a new one. Good Luck fixing it! Reply if you need any help or explanations.

  • Ipod touch verification and authorization problems!

I connected my little sisters Ipod Touch to my laptop so it could charge and so that I could update it. However, for some reason my laptop isn't authorized anymore, and when l try to authorize it, Itunes says that my sisters account isn't verified. I try to verify it but it won't verify. I'm not sure what to do anymore. I've followed all the instructions that Itunes tells me to do but it won't verify or authorize.

  • Currently have ipod touch 4 and am getting an iphone 5c. Want to transfer data to new phone. Currently all our family devices on one apple ID for purchases and it is the same for icloud. I want to create a new one for icloud for this iphone. What do I do?

Currently have ipod touch 4 and am getting iphone 5c this weekend. Currently our family has several apple devices and they have the same apple ID for itunes and it is the same ID that we use for icloud. I want to set up a separate icloud ID so that it is only on my new device. I still want to keep the same apple ID for purchases. Can I do this and better yet when do I do this...before the purchase, after the purchase and backing up of data. Where do I go to create a new one?

    Figured it out. Thanks.

That screen is asking you to connect the device to iTunes to restore it.

My daughter's older Ipod Touch is having a problem with images becoming pixilated when taken from an e-mail and placed into her camera roll. ( She wants to put on Instagram ) Any help?

I think that may be a consequence of the email provider she is using. Some services (AOL is one example) inspect and modify email attachments, particularly photos, resulting in reduced resolution compared to the email that was sent.
The iPod does not do this. The resolution of the picture in the email she receives will be identical to what is imported.

I've asked identical questions but received no answers.

It shouldn't be.  You can use multiple Apple ID's one one device. But keep in mind that purchases made under one ID are permanently tied to that ID.  So if you need to update an app that was purchased with a certain Apple ID, it will needed to be updated with those Apple ID credentials.

  • IPod Touch freezes and cannot be opened but still plays songs

i have 6months old iPod Touch 8gb and even in the first week of my purchase, while playing songs, it will suddenly freeze: it won't let me do anything. Just black screen but it still plays the music.
i would reset it (home button + sleep/wake button) and then it would be ok again. but if I just let it playing while its on freeze, after a few minutes it would stop playing and the freezing will continue.
I have tried restoring it: erasing all contents on my iTouch but it won't do anything.
This happens quite a lot of time now. It's actually worse now. I happened to bring it to the MAC store to let them define the problem. They said it probably has something to do with the "music" that I'm playing. Might corrupted or something. But of course I know what I'm playing and what I'm playing isn't corrupted. They would try to diagnose it though but it will take days for them to do it by restoring it and downloading other music and if, they said, the new downloaded songs won't make the iPod freeze, they would have to charge me even if my iPod is still on warranty.
Is this a common problem? should i try to let them fix the problem or is there anything i can do myself to fix it?

    Welcome to the discussions,
to make sure the problem is not the iPod software, restore your device "as new iPod" without using the backup to get your data back.
If you can use your iPod without problems after that, the some data on the iPod was corrupted. Add your music step by step to make sure the music files are ok.
