IPod Touch 3G headphone jack problems

My iPod Touch 3G been used by me for 13 months... as soon as warrenty expired my headphone jack port failed - left side of my headphones doesn't work.
Tried different headphones - same thing - same headphones works perfectly on my computer and cellphone.
Apple store named  ridiculous price to repare. Bad service... now i have a 1 year old mp3 player which can't play mp3.
Great "QUALITY" Apple! And even better customer service!

Apple charges a lot since they do not fix your iPod.  They replace it with a refurbished one at fixed price, regarlsess of what is wrong with yours.
Two solutions:
- Get a third-party place to replace the jack.  Here is one:
DigiExpress.us - The iPad Repair Professionals
- Purchase bluetooth headphones.

  • IPod touch 2G Headphone Jack Problem

I am currently experiencing problems with my iPod touch 2G's headphone jack.
The problem is that my left earphone has a crackling noise and sometimes it cuts out completely if the headphones jack moves around too much such as when it is in my pocket while i am walking.
I do not want to fix this manually as I doubt I will fix it.
My right earphone works perfectly. I have also tried using other earphones and they experience the same problem but they work perfectly when I plug them into my laptop.
If I had to take this into an Apple store, how much would it cost for a repair? Or is there an alternative where I can fix this myself without having to open the iPod itself. I also don't want to buy a earphone extender.
    Also my warranty has expired.

I suggest googling some iPod repair websites. Replacement of a headphone jack costs anywhere from $30 to $50 depending on where you go, but i recommend a particular website called millamp.com
They have good price and service for iPod repairs

  • Ipod touch 5g headphone jack problem

When I plug in headphones that have an inline mic it wont work and I would have to twist for a while until it works. I was wondering if their was a way to fix this or do I have to replace my Ipod.

That's a hardware issue.  Take it back to Apple.

  • IPOD touch. - Headphone jack no longer working.

I'm new to this site, and it's sincerely making me angry.
I got an ipod touch NG december 2008. It ran fine, but it seems as soon as my warranty ran out, the headphone jack decided to mess up. Now, I only get audio out of my right headphone, and not the left. It is not to do with the headphones, as I've tried multiple pairs. So, now I read that I have to pay 99 dollars for a repair fee? Is this how it is? Or are there any loopholes around that ridiculous fee considering I paid three hundred dollars for something I expected to actually work.
Has anyone else had this problem? How'd you fix it?
I'm sincerely annoyed with apple, and very much considering changing MP3 forms. Because, my family have all owned a certain IPOD product, and they've all had problems.
    Someone, please reply.

the same thing happened to me but i didnt know it would cost about 100 bucks to repair. ive tried it with 3 diffrent pairs of headphones

  • IPod touch 5th gen jack problem

    Hello,
So here's the problem. I have a 32gb iPod touch 5th gen and it's working fine until I plugged it into a portable speaker. (THe ones used in PC) The sound that came out had a static background. Now, every time I plug Apple's default earphones into the jack, the sound that comes out is too loud. Adjusting the volume doesn't help. It's as if the earphone had turned into a speaker. What's worse, there's still the static background. It's like tuning on an FM station with really bad reception.
I've done the ff, and nothing worked so far:
    1. Reboot
    2. Reset settings
    3. Tried 3 different pairs of earphones.
What should I do. I would also like to add that I can play the music through the iPod's built in speakers without any problems. It's just the jack.

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack.

  • IPod Touch 4 headphone jack no longer working??

So recently, my ipod touch 4's headphone jack stopped working. As in, I would plug in the headphones, and I would just hear the bass guitar in all the songs and the vocals, drums, beats etc. would be almost muted. And then, I would re-plug in the headphones not all the way through but it would be loosely connected to the ipod. Any slight touch to the headphone would turn the music off. But, it would play the music fine. What am I supposed to do?
These are the same headphones I've been using for the last 5 months and this has never been a problem. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

If the problem is not due to the headphones:
    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Check also Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing. Make sure that the sound balance is not set all the way to "R".
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost

  • Ipod touch 5 headphone jack not working please help?

I have tried with multiple pairs of earbuds/ headphones. Either there will be audio in the left, or right, but usually never at the same time unless you twiddle with the headphone plug in. Sometimes there's no audio. I only got the ipod in December, so naturally I'm concerned that there's a problem.
If anyone has experienced anything like this, your help would be greatly appreicated. Also any help on how to fix it/ what I should do about it would be further appreicated.
    Thanks so much!!

  • IPod Touch 4G - Headphone Jack

    Hi.
So, I at one time has troubles with my iPod touch 4th Generation battery.  I sent it to iResQ & got the battery fixed.
I didn't realize it at first, but after I got my iPod back from the iResQ company, my headphone jack stopped working.  I didn't call them or anything (stupid me!!) because I didn't think about it being them...but now that I think about it, that was the problem.
So now, I have a broken headphone jack. I would appreciate it if somebody would show/tell me a method to use to get it working again..THAT IS FREE AND I CAN DO IT AT HOME.
That would be great!! Let me know if anybody knows how!
    With God's Love,
         Nicki <3

  • My iPod touch's headphone jack is not working.

I was in class listening to music regularly, when suddenly i pressed the play button again and there was no sound. i pulled out my Beat's jack and blew the ipod jack, which didnt help either. At first i thought it was my headphones, until i used my friends earphones in my ipod and there was no sound either. i went home, took a Q tip and turned it inside the jack many of times, and there was still no success. i even updated the firmware and restored my ipod, but there was no solution. is there no way of fixing this ?

If you have iTunes 10.5.x then you very likely have a 2G iPOd. Those can only go to 4.2.1.  If yours is an 8 or 16 GB model without a camera it is a 2G iPod.  TO idenify yours:

  • Petition: Make the headphone jack problem's status publ

Dear CEO of Creative Labs [I still have to find out how to contact the CEO]:
I was very excited about buying your product, the Creative Nomad Zen Micro, as an alternati've to competitors such as Apple's iPod mini and the Rio Carbon. I was impressed by the numerous features, the looks, and the size of the player, which could fit into the palm of your hand.
Unfortunately, I came across a serious problem with the player that could have serious consuquences on my (and many other people's) buying descisions. There seems to be a defect in the headphone jack of the player, causing it to pop loose and make the sound intermittently come through only one of the headphones, in a few months or even a matter of days, making the player unusable.
Countless members of the Creative community in the forums on your website have gone through three to four Micros with this problem, as well as people commenting on the player at review websites such as Cnet. There have been numerous messages sent to customer support about this problem, but it has all been attributed to user error.
If you just take a look at the Creative forum, there are so many people with this problem that it can't possibly be a rare manufacturing defect, especially considering the fact that quite a few people have gone through 2 or 3 micros already, all with the same problem. We are not asking you to immediately fix the problem, we understand that it would probably entail a large and costly effort to do so. What we do want to know is that we want a public announcement of the problem, whether Creative has confirmed it or not, and what is being done/not being done about it, and perhaps customer tips about how to avoid it. There have been rumors that the headphone jack as been supposedly reinforced by a metal plate, and others... Many potential creative customers like such as me are left in the dark about what most forum users refer to as the "dreaded" headphone jack problem. We would like to know about it, what to do to avoid it, and whether or not something is being done/has been done to new products to prevent this problem from happening. Again, contacting support has not answered our questions.
If I, (and countless other potential customers), are uncertian about this problem, we might as well give up a few features like the FM tuner and buy and iPod mini or another competing product free of such a problem. We would very much appreciate it if you would publicly release information about this problem.
Please contact me at the address shown. [Yes, this IS a snail-mail letter] We are all looking forward to a reply. For more information, please refer to the petition here:

Any suggestions/comments/corrections? (This is just a quick first draft) Please sign here for the petition. Also, you could post "testimonials" about your opinion on the headphone jack problem. I'm not expecting a reply from the CEO him/herself but I hope to get a better response than just an email to support.Message Edited by CreativeHead on 03-7-2005 02:03 PM

There are threads ongoing on similar topics. This is not a suitable topic for this forum.
I will pass on any comments from the other threads and original post in this one, but I'm closing this topic and any further petitions like this as it will just result in "Creative-bashing" and unproducti've comments.
