IPod Touch 3G Stuck in restore mode

Now, wait until you here this one. I turn on my iPod, and out of nowhere, I have a 21 million minute lock. SO, I figure I'll just restart it. I put my ipod into recovery mode, and no dice on my main computer which is on Win 7 using 64-bit iTunes. I get the error code 1611, which according to apple's page, is a hardware error.
Then I thought it was just my computer, and behold, it starts to restore on my old Windows Vista 32-bit computer. When the loading bar finishes and it has updated to 4.3, it tells me to keep the iPod plugged in for 10 seconds. The iPod is then put into a "connect to iTunes" screen. After 10 seconds pass, what other would I expect than an error.
This error is -9808, which is supposed to be a problem with certificate settings when connecting to the iTunes store. I have tried the tutorials before, where you change your internet settings MULTIPLE times, and I still get the error, even after restarting my computer many, many times.
I then get the idea that maybe my main computer, the Windows 7 using 64-bit iTunes could get by this error. But now, iTunes doesn't even detect the iPod being plugged in!
I pretty much wasted my friday re-installing iTunes (Yes, the latest version) over 20 times on 2 computers.
Any ideas will be very much appreciated.

sounds like the same issue a bunch of people have had one person was able to answer. on windows 7 uninstall service pack 1 and reboot then disable firewall. try restoring then . the trouble i had was it would start restoring and then stall. on my win xp machine it was giving error 1611 but on win7 no error 1611. if your vista machine seems to do the trick try uninstalling the service packs or at least disabling firewall.

  • Ipod touch (2G) stuck in "restore" mode.  Need HELP please

I have contacted Apple support several times since Friday and was just hung up on by an extremely rude lady in customer support. I am really frustrated and just trying to get my 5 yr old little boys ipod touch working again.
The situation is that our son's old computer crashed. So we have a newer computer set up for him. Reinstalled itunes on it. Called Apple on Friday, really nice rep gave me several instructions for transfering purchases, making sure everything was up to date and turning home sharing on. Did all that, got off the phone with him and then the computer tells me that the ipod needs and update.
Clicked ok, and update starts going for a few minutes.....then get an error message that says that the ipod is basically stuck in "restore" mode and needs to be reset to factory settings. It won't let me do anything to the ipod. It won't restore, reset, anything. Just shows a picture of usb cable and says to connect to itunes.
Connect to itunes and it keeps giving me say error message.
Will someone please help me? Apple support sure won't.

Did you try to connect in recovery mode, to start the restore process again? Connecting in Recovery mode is explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
Also delete the ipod ipsw firmware file on your computer, to make iTunes download a new copy to restore from. Depending on your OS, this file can be found here:
    XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates
    Vista and 7: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates

  • Ipod touch 2g stuck on restore mode, pc won't recognize it

I wanted to do a complete restart of my ipod, so I went ahead and used the "Erase all content and settings" option, it took about an hour to erase completely and then it rebooted, and got stuck on the apple logo screen. I tried reseting it presing the home and the sleep button at the same time for about ten seconds, but it was then stuck again on the apple logo screen. I connected the ipod to the computer while pressing the home button and I got the connect to Itunes creen, but my pc won't recognize it.
I have already tried restoring on several computers with several cables, all with the same result, what should I do?

    - First try placing the iPod in recovery mode and then restoring via iTunes. See the following for recovery mode.
    - If that does not work try placing the iPod in DFU mode and then restoring via iTunes. See:

  • My iPod touch is stuck in recovery mode and won't restore?

Okay my Ipod Touch is stuck in recovery mode and will not restore because "the ipod software update server cannot be contacted". I have tried to restart my computer, restart my ipod, tried different computers, and re-intalled AND updated my itunes and it still will not restore. It is stuck on the picture of the usb cable pointing to itunes and won't do anything else. I'm trying to restore it because my memory was full and I wanted to clean it out and now the ipod is useless, please help me restore it!

    Update Server
    Try:
    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
    Public DNS — Google Developers
    OpenDNS IP Addresses
    - For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
    - Try on another computer/network
    - Wait if it is an Apple problem

    Hi,
My Third Generation iPod Touch is stuck in DFU Mode (Completely Black Screen) and I cannot exit it as I have a broken Sleep/Wake button on the iPod. Even worse, iTunes will not see the device so I can restore it.
The only thing that I can think of is to wait until it's battery has completely drained and then restore it.
    Please help me!

  • IPod touch 4G stuck in recovery mode- it won't even go into DFU

When I accidentally disconnected my iPod touch 4G during an update yesterday, it automatically went into recovery mode (the screen with the USB cable pointing up towards an iTunes logo). Now it won't turn off, it is recognised by neither my laptop nor by iTunes, it won't even go into DFU, so there's absolutely no way, as far as I can tell, to fix it. I've looked all over the internet, and the only other person I can find who has experienced a similar problem hasn't received an answer in about a year. • My iPod touch is stuck in recovery mode, help?

A few hours ago, I tried updating my 5th generation iPod touch to iOS 8. It ran into an error and couldn't update, which left my iPod touch stuck in recovery mode with a screen showing a USB cord pointing to an iTunes symbol. I tried searching for ways to get my iPod out of recovery mode without restoring it to its factory settings, but after a couple hours of seeking, I decided I might as well just restore it. I clicked the restore button, and when it finished, it said that my iPod touch couldn't be restored either. Now, I have no clue what to do. May I have some help?

  • IPod touch 5g stuck in recovery mode.

    Hi.
I tried to update the software on my ipod touch 5g, for some reason the connection was lost between the ipod and the PC midway through installing the software on the ipod, now im stuck in recovery mode.
I keep losing connection between ipod and pc since trying to update the software. Basically the connection is lost then comes straight back.
My ipod shows the lead with an arrow pointing towards the itunes logo.
Itunes tells me that im in recovery mode and gives me an option to restore.
Whenever I have tried to restore it downloads the latest software then nothing happens, just stays in restore mode.
I have tried putting it into DFU mode but nothing appears to happen after following the steps.
Really annoying as the next available appointment at the Apple store is on Monday and would like to get it fixed a lot sooner than that if poosible.
    Many Thanks

Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .

Help, please.  I have an Ipod Touch 2generation that was my older sons and I wanted to restore it to factory to give to his younger brother.  I get the message that is was restored successfully (Windows 7, no error messages or codes from Itunes) but when that message goes away and the ipod shows back up in itunes is still says its in recovery mode.  I've tried different usb cables, different usb ports, turning off my anti-virus firewall protection, using a different pc (Windows Vista) and still the same thing.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
