For how to restore:
iTunes: Restoring iOS software
To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

  • How do I access my iPod Touch (5th Generation). Broken Home Key, Locked Screen, No assistive touch currently off and no access to itunes on original PC.

So a friend had damaged her iPod touch by dropping it some time ago. It has been sitting in her drawer ever since (she got a new device). It is now out of warranty and she said I could have it, but only catch is i'd have to fix it some how.
    Problems are:
    1) iPod is locked - She doesn't know the passcode it was set to.
    2) Home key broken - Unable to do a reset as per the many links I see online.
    3) Assistive touch is off - Unable to turn this on as the phone is locked and I can't unlock it.
    4) We no longer have access to the original PC that it was sync'd with. I've managed to get it linked to my itunes but can't do anything with it do to the fact it won't let me as iPod is locked.
So basically it almost seems there is nothing that can be done but would appreciate your help if possible. Ideally if I can get it unlocked without losing the data so I can keep the music that is on there it would be good. If not then a full reset is fine.
Can this be done? Can we turn on assistive touch without unlocking the phone and no home key? Please help,

  • My IPod Touch (3rd Gen) is stuck on the apple screen...Ive done a restored once and it didnt fix it, what do i do?

Ok, so i know this is like other discussions but my Ipod Touch shows the Apple logo for 30 Secs, then it disappears and nothing shows, just a blank screen.  Ive done a couple restores and it comes up with the same results.
Does anyone know how to permanently solve this problem.

If you have an Apple Store, near you, make an appointment to take it to them. If it's not a hardware failure, they may be able to help.
    Regards.

  • My ipod touch flashes the apple logo and the lock screen. How do I fix it?

My ipod touch 4th Generation will flash from the Apple Logo to my locked screen.  Although when I plug in my headphones everything works perfectly.  I have not had this ipod very long and i have already recieved a new one from Apple before. I have also tried reseting it as well.

First try restoring the iPod from backup.
Next try restoring the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • My ipod touch 3rd gen is stuck on the apple screen logo

my ipod 3rd gen is stuck on the apple screen logo

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipod touch is stuck on swirly icon after lock screen freezing

My ipod got stuck on the lock screen and wouldn't respond to anything I tried. Left it for 10 minutes and came back and it had gone to the swirly icon screen which normally comes after updating your ipod. It has been on this swirly icon screen for about 30 minutes now. Tried syncing with itunes no response, also restarting using lock and home button does not work. Will not turn off either. I'm going to restore ipod now but it takes 4 hours for the software to update is this right??
    Thank you.

Yes, someties it can take hours for the update.  The download can take hours.
If you can't restore the iPod since iTunes will not see the iPod, disconnect he iPod from a charging source and let the battery full drain.  After charging for an hour try the reset, and restore.  You also may have to place the iPod in recovery mode.  For that see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore

  • IPod touch not able to be controlled from lock screen or my car buttons when on lock screen on iOS 6 help

So I updated my iPod touch to iOS 6 now it no longer plays automatically in my car when I start it like before if its locked. Neither can I control it from my stereo buttons if its locked either so I had to set it to never lock the screen. Trying to figure out if there's a way to fix this or do I have to restore it back to iOS 5? I think it's a problem with the lock screen cause I can't even start playing music from it anymore by double clicking the home button like before I just want my old iPod back :( oh btw my car is a ford escape with sync audiophile I love my stereo and just want my **** iPod to work right

    Try the following:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
Or it could be that the update broke the compatibility. That happens sometimes. I would contact the car system manufacturer.
