IPod Touch 3rd Gen. wont backup, corrupt or not compatiable, please help!!

I have an issue, running Windows XP and I don't have the location where the backup's are stored on my pc: Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\.  What I do have is the following: Documents and Settings\(username)\ there's a AppData folder followed by:\LocalLow\DataMngr\ .
I have the latest update, 5.0.1 and I have the iPod Touch 3rd gen.
I have tried removing itunes and all that is associated with it then reinstalling and I keep getting the same message.  I've reset my ipod thinking that would help but still, no backup.
In iTunes, Edit, Preference, Device there are no backups.
What am I doing wrong, can anyone help?
Thank you!

Try here:
iOS: Troubleshooting backup issues in iTunes
Backup are here:
Tunes places the backup files in the following places:
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Windows Vista and Windows 7: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
Note: If you do not see the AppData or Application Data folders, you may need to show hidden files (Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7), or iTunes may not be installed in the default location. Show hidden files and then search the hard drive for the Backup directory.

    Try:
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I have a Macpro Book and I just downloaded new software to my ipod touch(3rd gen).  Now it does not show up in itunes nor does it turn on.  I believe it just downloaded the software and never updated it.  What do I do?

You appear to have a second generation iPod touch, not a third, and those can't be updated past 4.2.1. Apple sold 8GB second generation models at the same time as the third generation ones.

  • IPod wont backup, corrupt or not compatiable

sorry everyone, I thought I had this wrapped up.  I found the folder they were hidden however, my ipod is still not recognizing where the backup folder is and I keep getting the same message:
iPod wont backup, corrupt or not compatiable
How do I get my ipod and backup folder to link up?
    Thank you

What happens if you remov the backup files and then try to sync/backup?
The message is saying that the backup is mpt compatible with the iPod and one reason is that the backup is corrupted.
Just what are you try to do?

  • IPod touch 3rd gen recognized by computer but not by iTunes

My iPod touch 3rd gen is stuck on the connect to iTunes screen. It became stuck on the screen while updating to the newest software and is still stuck. It is recognized by my PC as an "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" in recovery mode but is not recognized by iTunes.
I have tried multiple suggestions by the Apple Support pages related to this issue, and even reinstalled all Apple programs on my PC, but iTunes still fails to recognize the iPod.
Is there any other ways I could go about solving this issue? It seems I have tried everything so far..

  • Bluetooth Headset does not play sound from ipad touch 4th gen. ipod touch 4th gen. although it does pair ok! Please help!

HM1200, BH99b, JabraBT2045 bluetooth headsets do not play music from ipad, ipod touch 4th generation, although it does pair ok. Why is that if it is compatable, why it does not play any music or sound via bluetooth headsets.  When I pair the headsets to Mac it does play music via bleutooth headsets!  Please help me!  Also, how to connect several or two bluetooth headsets to one device: Mac, or iPad iPod touch 4th generation? Please, reply as soon as possible!

Your iPad has built-in WiFi. You cannot and don't need to use the USB dongle.
Look in Settings > WiFi. Find the SSID of your wireless router, tap it's name and enter the WiFi password.

  • (refurbished) iPod touch 3rd gen won't connect to internet?? Help.

I ordered this iPod factory refurbished from Apple a week and a half ago. The wireless is working fine, I've been using it on my laptop all day and there's no password on it. My iPod says it's connected to the network in the settings and it's got the little wireless signal symbol on the top of the screen, and it's got perfect signal. But when I try to access any app that uses the internet or safari, it says I'm not connected. I've restored it to factory settings and that didn't work, and I've tried multiple times forgetting the network and reconnecting. Nothing's working. My nearest apple store is a ridiculous drive.

I'm not sure what type of router you are connecting to but chances are it isn't an Apple Airport Express.
Anyway, the connection details are telling you that your router is not supplying you with an IP address, subnet mask, or DNS IP address. We need to know a bit more about your setup to make a completely accurate set of suggestions, but I'll give you some general hints on how to get this working.
    1. Reboot your router (just unplug the power cord)
    2. Reset the touch network settings - tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
    3. When your touch restarts, tap Settings > WiFi > Other and re-enter your network name, security settings, and network password.
If you appear to be connected, tap Settings > WiFi > and the little blue > next to your network name. If everything is OK, you will have an IP address other than the 169.x.x.x address you had, a full subnet mask address, the router IP address, and the DNS address.
If you still have the 169.x.x.x address - possible reasons are:
    1. You are using WEP. Apple devices are picky about how WEP is implemented. Try using the WEP key value in place of the network password. Better still, change your encryption to WPA2-psk and pick a good 8 character or more password.
    2. Your router is really old or the firmware is way out of date. Go the makers website and download the latest firmware for the router and install it.

  • I downloaded a recommended update and since then my ipod touch (3rd gen) is frozen and wont turn on (1604 error)

I downloaded a recommended update and since then my ipod touch (3rd gen) is frozen and will not turn on. I try restoring factory settings but the process terminates with a 1604 error. I have researched this problem on the net and think i have tried everything, but still no joy. I have tried removing all apple and itunes software and reinstalling, updating the apple drivers - nothing has worked. I am using itunes 10.3 on my pc, windows xp.
If anyone can help me i would be extremely grateful - I am off on holiday on thursday and would love to have my ipod with me!
    Many thanks in advance.
    Craig.

Error 1604: This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, uninstalling and reinstalling USB ports, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections, device not recognized properly, computer won't recognize a FireWire or USB device). If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for error 1604.
    When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while iPhone remains connected.
iPhone should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
    Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

  • My iPod touch 3rd gen is malfunctioning

Well first, my iPod touch 3rd gen would start turning off (not all the way, just so that you have to turn on the screen and swipe the lock screen) without me doing anything. It stopped that quickly though. Then the volume sign would start appearing on the screen without me ever touching the volume switch. And then whenever I tried turning it off, (just the screen again) it wouldn't turn off, and I'd just have to wait until it automatically went off. These weren't horribly big problems, but I wanted to get rid of them of course, so I turned my iPod off all the way, with holding the power button down. Now I can't turn it back on at all and I don't know what to do. I'd really appreciate help, I'm not super good with this stuff, 'specially this. thanks! <3
