IPod touch 3rd generation not accessing iTunes account through wifi.

I have a 3rd generation iPod touch with iOS 4.1.  I currently have no computer so I download music directly through wifi.  When I try to download music it asks for my iTunes password, and when I enter it the message pops up asking for the password again.  It does this over and over.  I am using the correct password and even changed my password just to be sure.  The same thing happens when I try to redeem an iTunes card or view my account.  Not sure if it matters but I've been doing this at 2 different Starbucks.  Any ideas?

    I just recently upgraded my Macbook software to version 10.6.3 because I purchased an iPod shuffle and the newest version of iTunes would not install with my old software.     Also are yo sure yo have a 3G?
    A 3G goes to iOS 5.1.1 while a 2G only goes to iOS 4.2.1

  • IPod Touch 3rd Generation not Recognized by iTunes but recognized by Windows as "Apple iPod"

    Exactly what the title says. My iTunes will not recognize my iPod touch, but my Windows Vista will recognize it with autoplay. I updated iTunes about 10 minutes ago, tried two different apple wires, and 3 different USB ports that work. Can anyone help me fing a solution? I found the iPod Touch assistant thing and tried all of those steps but the problem recurred. Thank you in advance!

    I have the same problem. My Iphone 4s works fine when docked to PC. PC won't recognize my 3rd Gen Nano. Same goes for my Work PC. They don't recognize it nor will plugging it in to a PC charge it. I have to plug it into wall socket to charge.
    I have tried resetting, I have tried downloading newest Itunes.
    Must be the Nano itself if it doesn't get recognized by mutliple PCs?
    I haven't used the Nano for probably 2 months. Previously it worked fine...
    One thing, when docked to my laptop during a reboot/startup, it intially starts to charge the Nano, but once setup is finished it doesn't recognize it any longer...

  • IPod Touch 2nd generation not being recognized / charging through iTunes

    I am having issues with my 2nd gen iPod Touch being recognized in iTunes or Windows.  I have tried multiple computers with no luck (Windows XP and 7).
    Here is what is going on.
    iPod is not recognized through computer or iTunes
    iPod doesn't charge through computer or a wall charger, however, will charge through a seperate speaker dock. (this seems odd that it will charge on a dock, but not through the wall charger or computer).
    Each time the iPod is plugged into the computer with Windows XP, I get a message that the USB device is not recognized.  I get no message when plugged into Windows 7.
    Here are the steps I tried to fix the issue.
    used multiple cables, 3 in all.  My iPhone 3gs works fine and is recognzied with all cables / computers.
    reset the device numerous times and re-started computers.
    Uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled with no luck.
    I'm reaching out into the community to see if anyone has had similiar issues and looking for advice to solving this problem.

    Slightly different contact configuratio in the dock might allow charging nly on the dock.
    If you can't straight out the contacts:
    Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours. However, it may not be worth it for the old 2G iPod.

    I got the ipod about 4 years ago and now it doesnt charge any more. If I want to charge it I have to push up or down but I only did that once because I dont want to damage it any more.   • IPod Touch 3rd Generation 32GB Brand New drains with Wifi

    I recently purchased an iPod Touch 32 GB 3rd Gen and started using it 2 days ago. Everything about my iPod is awesome except for Wifi. If I connect to wifi and use Facebook or Safari (or any internet app), my battery life gets cut short to about 2 hours. This is without music playing, and brightness set at a low level. My mail is set to fetch every hour, and there's no push. My girlfriend has an iPod Touch 8GB 2nd Gen for a year, and she doesn't have this problem. Her battery barely goes down while using wifi+facebook. I find this extremely disturbing. I know that her iPod is supposed to have 6 extra hours of music, but I didn't think that would cause such a difference. Does anyone have this problem? If so, could y'all please help me? I love my iPod Touch, but I hate the Wifi problem. Thanks in advance.

    Did you try to delete your mail account and set it up again? There have been posts about the mail app getting stuck connecting to the mail server over and over again when set to fetch.

    I have 2 ipod touch 3rd generation.   Cannot connect to my wifi.   One will connect on and off to my neighbor's unsecure wifi but neither will connect to my secured wifi.   All my wireless computers connect plus my Ipad connects.    They did connect at one time but haven't used them for anything but audio books which connect through Itunes on my computer.   It shows my secured network name.   When I originally connected them it was another rather with other security but since then I have bought new equipment.   My Ipad and my printers just automatically connect.    I have put in the Ip information plus but still no luck.

    Try :                 
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router
    - Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network

    Settings > AirPlane Mode ON, Do Not Disturb ON
    Power down and wait 5-10 minutes

    Does the iOS device connect to other networks? See other networks? If yes that tends to indicate a problem with your network.

    Do other devices now connect?

  • IPod Touch 3rd generation is not turning on and gets really hot when I plug it in but is not charging...

    I have an iPod Touch 3rd generation and yesterday I was using it and noticed that it reset to a different time zone and when I dug a little deeper realized that it reset the date to December of 1969. I just went in and changed it all back. I was out of the house all day today and didn't take it with me, when I went to use it, it wouldn't turn on. I assumed it was dead, so I plugged it in and got ready for bed. I realized that the charging screen never appeared and it never made the little noise it does when you plug it in. I picked it up and right near where the charger plugs in, it was very hot. I use it when it'd plugged in from time to time and it is NEVER that hot. I then tried to plug it into the computer where it again didn't do anything and didn't show up as a device that was plugged in on my iTunes. Again, it got very hot very quickly. I am using the cord that came with it and an actual Apple brand wall charger. I don't know what else to do. Some people said to hold the two buttons down for a little bit, but nothing happened on mine. Please help!

    Warm is normal, too hot to handle, literally, is not.
    If you're concerned, make an appointment at your local apple store and have them check your charger out.

    i am having the same issure and i did put it into recovery mode and itunes tells me to restore, but when i click restore it tells me that "software for this iphone is not currently available. make sure you have the latest version of itunes and try again" but it's obviously not an iphone.
