Ipod Touch 3rd Generation Restore List dates not there

Whenever I go to restore from back up it says choose a back up. Well usually it would give me a bunch of dates and times but only one is there it just says "Josh's Ipod." I mean from the drop down list whenever you sync it supposed to put time stamps there. But now It doesn't do it anymore no matter how many times I try it.
Help?
Thanks.

If the battery died then you will have to replace the battery and then see if you can get the data off the iPod. Otherwise you will have to try restoring the iPod and lose the data.
You can try a third-party place like the following.
iPhone Repair, Service & Parts: iPod Touch, iPad, MacBook Pro Screens
You can also make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • IPod Touch 3rd Generation 32 GB will not charge, sync to iTunes, or turn on

I've had this iPod since about January/February 2010. I've had this issue ever since May 20th, 2012 .When I plug it into an adapter, it shows the very low battery red sign, and when it is plugged in, it shows that it is charging. However, when it reaches the silver apple logo when an iPod turns on, it is stuck on the logo, so it does not turn on. When I plug it into my MacBook Pro, it does not show up under the devices column. Therefore, I am not able to backup or update my data, which is my first priority. I really want to be able to backup my data. I've gone to numerous Apple Support Communites pages and numerous apple support pages, and none have helped me. i've tried to reset my iPod, but I do not want to restore it and go into recovery mode because I do not want to lose my data. The two problems I think that I have is either the battery has died and can no longer charge or the charging dock is somehow broken. I've already used different adapters and different computers to charge it from. I really do not want to buy a new iPod, and if so, I would like to backup my data first. Any suggestions?

  • I have a iPod touch 3rd generation and it will not turn on or charge.

This iPod, when ever I turn it on all I get is the apple logo. Then about five minuts later, it tells me to plug it up, you know, the low battery simbole. But the kicker is that it is always pluged up when it is doing this! Can you tell me how to restor this iPod? I've tried force recovery but I discontinued it from my account. I've heard if you plug up to a computer it will charge better, didn't work. Thanks for helping me. Cameron44

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • The backlight on my ipod touch 3rd generation will not come on, but everything works perfectly. I even used the advice given on the tech support page, and it still will not come on. HELP ME PLEASE.

The backlight on my ipod touch 3rd generation will not come on, but everything else is working fine I even took the tech support advice by plugging it in and resetting it, but that didn't fix the issue either. I need help.

    If not this:
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem.
    Also heating sometimes works. See:
Why can't I select my wifi settings?
A trick that works frequently with iPhones:
Settings > AirPlane Mode ON, Do Not Disturb ON
Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
    Power up
Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.

    Then:
Does the iOS device connect to other networks? See other networks? If yes that tends to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • IPod Touch 3rd generation is not turning on and gets really hot when I plug it in but is not charging...

I have an iPod Touch 3rd generation and yesterday I was using it and noticed that it reset to a different time zone and when I dug a little deeper realized that it reset the date to December of 1969. I just went in and changed it all back. I was out of the house all day today and didn't take it with me, when I went to use it, it wouldn't turn on. I assumed it was dead, so I plugged it in and got ready for bed. I realized that the charging screen never appeared and it never made the little noise it does when you plug it in. I picked it up and right near where the charger plugs in, it was very hot. I use it when it'd plugged in from time to time and it is NEVER that hot. I then tried to plug it into the computer where it again didn't do anything and didn't show up as a device that was plugged in on my iTunes. Again, it got very hot very quickly. I am using the cord that came with it and an actual Apple brand wall charger. I don't know what else to do. Some people said to hold the two buttons down for a little bit, but nothing happened on mine. Please help!

Warm is normal, too hot to handle, literally, is not.
If you're concerned, make an appointment at your local apple store and have them check your charger out.

  • Ipod Touch 3rd Generation does not get to start-up screen

    Help!
my ipod touch 3rd generation will not load the start-up screen but follows a cycle, connecting to the USB port of a computer the ipod shows Battery Low
Indication; after about 3 minutes of charging the Apple logo appears and remains for approximately 3-5 minutes before the ipod turns off, and this cycles with
    battery charge.
The ipod cannot be reset, and when connected to a computer running iTunes the ipod is not recognised, leaving me unable to follow the restoration or recovery
    instructions found on this site.
Does anyone have an idea what could be wrong and a potential solution to the problem?

See if this program will get the iPod i recovery mode:

  • The screen on my ipod touch 3rd generation will not respond to touch, it will not work at all.

My ipod touch 3rd generation fell off of a chair, it worked ok fow a while then the bottom half of the screen would not work, now the entire screen is not working
I'm not sure what to do.

You can try the following to rule out a software probem:
    - Reset:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to  factory defaults/new iPod
If you still have the problem they yu very likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod Touch 3rd generation not recognized in iTunes

I just recently upgraded my Macbook software to version 10.6.3 because I purchased an iPod shuffle and the newest version of iTunes would not install with my old software. Now my iPod Touch 3rd generation is not being recognized by the newest version of iTunes (10.2). I have already restarted my computer, and shut it down and removed the battery for a minute before starting it up again. None of these things worked. This is the first time I have tried to sync my iPod touch since installing the new software so I am not sure what I need to do.

It sounds like this may be the fix:

(Mac OS X v10.6 or later: iOS device not recognized in iTunes after restart)

  • Reinstalled Itunes for Windows will not recognize ipod touch 3rd generation.

Itunes for Windows and PC will not recognize my ipod touch 3rd generation.  Also it will not fully charge using a brand new apple brand power adapter and cable. I have already uninstalled all Apple software on PC and reinstalled.  I've tried every step suggested by Apple online iPod touch Troubleshooting Assistant.

the best thing i think you could do is go to an apple store or uninstall itunes and reinstall it one more time and see what happens
