IPod Touch 4 - Bose Speakers Conflict

When I try to plug in my iPod touch into my Bose Speakers sound dock, there is a notification saying that 'Charging is not supported with this accessory'. Is there anyway to get around this? Or do I need new speakers that cost a few hundred dollars?

Turns out the speakers were outdated and not compatible.

  • Ipod touch built-in speakers wont work anymore. please help

Like I said my ipod touch built in speakers wont work now yesterday I was able to hear and use them when I was using the pianist app from the itunes store and it worked fine and today I redownloaded the digidrummer lite app since my old one for some reason didnt work and once I did download the app I synced to my ipod and tried to play and noticed that no sound came out so I tried other apps and also my music and also no sound. with headphones connected it works fine sound comes out and all.

K, so last night I tried the home+sleep/wake button hold thing and reset it that way and also just normal shutoffs which didnt fix it and also tried the ideas that you guys said and no go. everynow and then it would make the sound when I unlock it. so i just left it on and let the battery die see if that would do something it got to 10% and shuts off i guess so then i charged it on my stereo system with an ipod dock and was listening to music then i disconected it and to my suprise it started playing through the internal speakers again. I was skeptical at first so I turned it off and tried again it worked. so i went to the app that I think caused the problem in the first place called digidrummer lite I was able to hear the drums tom toms etc went to the home menu tried again played that app once more but this time there was no sound. I went to my music and everynow and then it would play but fade out or not play at all. so I took digidrummer off and so far the speakers are working again but I will still need to test them more.

  • Can I connect n iPod Touch to powered speakers?

I have an old pair of computer powered speakers. Can I connect an iPod Touch or Shuffle directly to the powered speakers? I would like to use the speakers in a garage with the iPod.

The speakers just have the 3.5mm plug.
If this is to plug into the back of a computer to get sound, then yes, just plug it into your touch headphone jack.

  • IPod Touch and Bose

I have a new iPod iTouch 16 gig touch screen. I have a Bose 321 system. Using the small white plastic iDoc I use RCA cable to plug into the iPod from the Bose Auxilliary port. The ipod is a sinlge port and the Bose uses 2 ports, left and right. It works. Music comes through, but is muted or reduced no matter how much I turn up the volume. I checked the bose by playing a CD of the same songs as the iPod and it plays fine. Switch back to the iPod, and reduced sound. I adjusted the settings on the iPod for music out put, but nothing works. It almost seems as if the iPod doesn't have enough power going into the Bose. The battery is fully charged. When I use headphones, the iPod sounds fine. Any suggestions? Thanks.

If your Nano G3 will only control Bose SoundDock volume...
If your Nano was updated to v 1.0.3 from a prior version it may not work with the Bose Sounddock. It appears only the Nano's that shipped from Apple with v1.0.3 will work.
Here's the scoop on the SoundDock remote not working exept for the volume. For Christmas I purchased my son a G3 Nano directly from Apple (the red one...it supports aids charities in Africa). I also purchased my wife one from Circuit City. My son's came with version 1.0.3 loaded from Apple. My wife's had to update from 1.0.2 through Itunes when I was setting it up. My son's worked perfectly with the SoundDock but only the volume control worked with my wife's unit. After much brain bashing, I determined that the upgrade version may have a problem, so I returned my wife's Nano to the retailer and ordered one directly from Apple. It arrived on New Year's eve and guess what, it worked perfectly with the Bose Sounddock. So lesson learned...if your Nano was 1.0.2 and was upgraded to 1.0.3, it may not work with the SoundDock. The native version from Apple works fine.

  • Using my ipod touch 5G with speakers designed for the iPod touch 4G.

Is there any way to do this? I just realized the bottom of my ipod touch 5G is completely different than the 4G I own, and my speakers (HK go+play micro) is made for the older version. The connector is way too large for the 5G. Is there a way to connect it, or am I stuck having to buy a new set of speakers? :/
    Thanks in advance.

One of these adopters/cables may work. However, some docks are not compatible with either the Lightning connector or the IOS on the iPod (sometimes an iOS update breaks compatibility). Thus go to the manufacturer's support site to see it it will work with the adopter.

  • Is it possible to connect an iPod touch to usual speakers and stream music?

i like the new airplay features but i'd apreciate if there was any way to connect my iPod touch 4G to my cheap Logitech Speekers and use my iTunes to select the music i wanna listen to with the speakers. Is that possible?

yes they do? but what to do now? i can actually connect my iphone to the speakers with the cable and play music with my ipod and listen to it through them. but i can't plug it in, turn my wi-fi on, let my iphone connected to the speakers & control the music played with itunes. or is there any possible way to manage that?

  • Ipod touch 5th gen speakers

    hallo,
i know thare are speakers on the Ipod touch 5gen, but how loud to thay go compear with the Iphone 4S?
annyone know if thay go louder, less loud or the same? i would like to know how loud the speakers can go from the Ipod Touch 5th Gen!
thaks, and sorry for my bad english!

Your English is fine!   The spelling may be off in a couple of places, but native English speakers make mistakes all the time!   (Here are the corrections for future reference:  iPod Touch; they; compare; iPhone 4s; Anyone; I; thanks; English)
I have the very same question that you do!  Thanks for posting it and let's hope we get some answers!

  • Random "clicking" sound when 16GB iPod touch docked with speakers

    Hi all,
My friend recently got a 16GB iPod touch. It works fine with headphones but whenever she docks it into her speakers or my own a random clicking sound can be heard. It doesn't matter if the thing is actually playing a track or not, so long as it's docked on the speakers the sound is heard. It also happens with the wi-fi switched off.
She recently paid the £12.99 for the update that adds Google maps etc. so I was thinking maybe that would update the firmware and fix the problem but it hasn't. I'm suspecting a fault with her iPod, has anyone else encountered this issue and knows of a fix short of returning it to Apple for a working one?
    Thanks in advance,
    8

Thanks very much, that seems to have fixed it!
Must admit I was a little skeptical but on my speakers (Altec Lansing ones) it's silent when not playing music and no distortions or clicks are audible when it is. On my friend's own speakers (some fairly anonymous brand) there is a little hissing and clicking but I think they do that with my own 1st generation Nano plugged in. She's getting some new Logitech ones, a set for her living room and another for her bedroom so hopefully that's it sorted.
    Cheers again!

  • Docking ipod touch in Bose ?

-- the instuctions in Bose's Sound Dock manual state to 'find' the correct insert for an ipod to look on the back of the included inserts for: 'A', 'B', or 'C'-- then look at the chart to find the correct instert for an ipod.
Clear instructions except the insert included with our ipod touch is a '14'.
    - Please can anyone tell me their experiences using the insert with or without the adapter & which insert did you use? --
Thank you, I do appreciate an answer.

You don't need to use that - besides, it will look bad as it's white - unless you got the white one
All you have to do is email Bose.
    Goto their website.
They will send you all the inserts for FREE!
I got mine three days later.
Also, if you use a case, like I do, just don't use an insert at all.
I have the iSkin silicone case, and it works great with no plate.
If I take that off, I use the "A" insert, which Bose will send you.
    Great company.

  • Which iPod touches have internal speakers??

I'm just wondering cause I'm searching all over the Internet and a lot of people are talking about their internal speaker problems, I can understand why a iPhone would have one but I looked at the 360 view of the iPod touch and saw no speaker plus mine doesn't have one.. I'm spool confused

2nd and 3rd gen iPod Touch models have a speaker if you want to call it that. I have a 1st and 3rd gen. My 1st gen doesn't have a speaker, but my 3rd gen does. I don't really consider it a speaker as such, because it is very limited in terms of how loud it gets, but it serves a purpose. I certainly like having it vs not.

  • IPod Touch and Bose SoundDock

I have a first generation 16GB iTouch (bought a year ago) and a first generation Bose Sounddock. Is it safe to use my iTouch with the Sounddock? I heard from an Apple Store employee---with no real verification---that it might be dangerous to the iTouch and they didn't know if it was safe yet. She also said Bose would come out with a statement.
So is it safe? Has anyone heard anything about it being risky to use?

It should work but mnay not charge and you may see a message saying something like "This accessory is not supported".
Although since you have a 1st gen touch, it will probably work fine.
The 2nd gen touch and teh 4G nano do not charge over FireWire which is what most accessories use.
Apple told developers a few years ago that FireWire charging was going away but most didn't do anything so new iPod owners are all up in arms over it.

  • 'Solved': interference of iPod Touch 4G on Bose SoundDock

My iPod Touch 4G generates an irritating humming noise from the speakers of an upgraded (to support charging of the iPod Touch 4G) Bose SoundDock when docked and playing an album. This is somehow related to the 'Now Playing' screen (perhaps the scrolling banner at the top?). If I hit the 'back' Arrow on the 'Now Playing' screen to go back to the 'All Albums' screen the humming noise is gone..
    Regards,
    Gijsbert

Yes, it seems like a defect in the iPod. If the iPod is within warranty and has not been abused Apple will exchange it for a refurbished one at no cost.

    Hi,
Nobody here will know and if they do they will be subject to a Non Disclosure Agreement and will not be able to say  (even if they were to reveal this info they would not do so on Apple's back door).
