IPod Touch 4 IOS 6.1.3 stuck in recovery mode

Hello, I have an iPod Touch 4 on IOS 6.1.3 and it has been stuck in recovery mode for over 3 months. I tried EVERYTHING on the internet. When I plug my iPod in my computer, iTunes does NOT recognize it.
I REALLY need help.
My iPod :
iPod Touch 4 - IOS 6.1.3
Thank you for your answers

If that doesn't work by the way,
1. Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed.
2. Make sure that the USB is connected fully on the device and the computer.
    a. If it's not working try another port on your computer.
    b. If that's not working try making sure your computer's USB ports are working by testing out another USB device.
3. If THAT does not work, make sure that the connection on the cable is fully connected and nothing is broken
4. Then if that does not work, I'm sorry my friend, but your will need to get an appointment with the Genius Bar at an Apple Store near you.

  • How do I get my 5th gen. iPod touch running iOS 7.1.1 out of recovery mode?

One day I woke up and I found my iPod on the floor. I forgot to plug it in so I thought it died, but decided to test and see. When I tried to turn it on, the Apple logo went away and displayed the connect to iTunes screen. I connected it to iTunes and clicked restore. After a few minutes, there was an error message saying that iTunes couldn't restore the iPod and the error code was 21. Have any ideas on how to get it out of recovery mode? I'm desperate and my iPhone and/or iPad won't hold my 3,500+ songs. I miss my music. Thanks for the support! :)

  • Ipod touch 2nd gen wont restore! Stuck in recovery mode

I wanted to update my ipod so I downloaded the neweset version of itunes, plugged in my ipod and it automatically said it needed to update the software. So I did, after about an hour when I thought it was almost finished, it said the update could not finish due to an unknown error. Then it said it detected an ipod in recovery mode and I needed to restore it. So I clicked on restore, it says its preparing the ipod for restore for about 15-20 minutes then says "ipod could not restore unknown _error 2003_. And now all I get is the screen showing itunes icon and usb plug goin towards it. I've tried unpluggin it and pluggin back in, I've made sure I'm using the latest version of itunes. Everything was fine before I plugged it in to update it. I dont care if I cant update it, I just want it back the way it was! Please help!!

Try using RecBoot to get it out of recovery mode.

  • IPod Touch 4th Gen failed iOS 6.1 update, stuck in recovery mode

Last night I tried to update my iPod Touch 4th gen to iOS 6.1. The update downloaded from iTunes perfectly fine, but as it was installing I got an error message. Now my iPod is stuck in recovery mode and will not start the recovery process. Both the "Devices and Printers" and "Device Manager" in Windows 7 recognize the iPod as being connected and in recovery mode, but iTunes is not showing the prompt that it detects the iPod in recovery mode. I have tried putting the device into DFU mode, uninstalled and reinstalled both iTunes and the Apple Mobile Device driver, all with no success. I won't be home for about 6 hours, so I can't try connecting it to another computer yet. Can anyone please tell me how to fix it?

Yeah, just happened to me too. Third time Apple has ****-canned my iPod by updating the iOS. So tired of having to do this over and over everytime Apple releases an update.
Thanks a ton, Apple! I was just thinking what I could be doing this eveing after a long day at work, now I've got my answer! You guys are just WONDERFUL!

  • IPod Touch not recognised by iTunes and stuck in Recovery

iPod Touch 1st Gen was working fine up until yesterday. Wanted to blank it so used "Restore" on iTunes. Didn't restore properly and is now stuck in Recovery mode.
Reinstalled iTunes and Apple Mobile Device 3 times. No luck at all. Still stuck in Recovery and effectively bricked!

  • New 5th generation ipod wont install software and is now stuck in recovery mode

I just received a 32 GB iPod touch 5th generation for Christmas today. I installed the newest version of itunes, backed up my former iPod to the computer and then plugged in the new one to add the software and restore it from the back up. After  the 3 hours of installing the software was almost done it said an unknown error ocurred. Now my new iPod is stuck in recovery mode and won't get past restoring the iPod. I have tried to go through it several times now. I really want to get this working, but I don't know what to do anymore.

The problem is that it stops restoring. I go throught the recovery stage to restore it and not even a quarter of the way through it comes up with the message that an unknown error has occured. Every time i connect it to iTunes it tells me that it has detected an iPod in recovery mode.

  • Gen 4 iPod touch will not come back to life from recovery mode. Plus: going to Apple store, in Japan?

    Hi everybody,
I know this is probably a commonly asked question, but I've been looking through other threads and haven't found anything that works so far.
iPod touch died a while ago and gave me the "restore me" screen. (Showing a USB cord plugging into Itunes). But, when I try to restore it won't let me.
I'm running a MacBook 5,1 with OS X 10.6.8 installed. My iPod touch is 32 GB, model Model A1367, 4th Generation.
I know it's old but if there's a chance at resurrecting, I want to give the old guy a chance.
    When I click "restore."
Itunes says that it's "extracting software," then starts switching between "verifying ipod restore with apple" and "preparing ipod for restore." The Ipod itself displays an apple with a progress bar.
Then it says "the ipod could not be restored, an unknown error occurred (40)"
I've tried a different internet connection and switching USB ports.
I also edited the "hosts file" as follows:
    # 17.151.36.30 gs.apple.com
I added this line, but I don't understand the hosts file very well. For example: no idea what the hashtag is for?
Let's see…I don't have any security software to speak of. I updated iTunes after I finally got 10.6.8 installed.
Also: I live in Japan! Japanese is not much of a problem, but I'm unsure of how much support I can get for an elderly American model. Is it difficult for an Apple stores to work with products that came from overseas, or is there that not much of a difference?
    Thank you!!

  • IPod Touch 3G won't turn on or enter recovery mode, but is recognized by iT

I recently put new songs on my ipod touch 3rd gen and they started skipping when I was listening to them so I decided to Restore it. So I went through the whole process and it went through I guess what they call a "Recovery Loop". So it keeps Restoring and then keeps saying "This iPod can't be used with iTunes until it has been restored". It keeps looping over and over! Now the iPod doesn't turn on at all and doesn't enter DFU mode however it is recognized by iTunes.
    HELP!

I think you have a couple of hardware problem:
    - The grayed-out wifi indicate one hardware problem:
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
    - Not using a battery for extended periods of time can cause battery failure. Thus, your battery may be dead.
    - I would make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • After an 'error' occurs to update iOS 6 , phone is stuck in recovery mode and only option is to restore? ):

I don't think I back uped anything. I assume it was already going to do that like most times..
I downloaded and updated the phone with the iOS6, but then an error occurred saying that the phone can't be updated. It then turned into recovery mode and suggests that the only way to use the phone is if I restore it.. which I really can't do! I still have lots of photos..
Please, I regret not having backing up just in case, but is there any way to somehow 'undo' the recovery mode and bring it back to normal (regardless of which iOS it has)? Please, I really would appreciate a solution, any solution.
    Thank you.

What's wrong with you guys.. you must ALWAYS back it up before anything major like this.
If it's not too late, and i do not know if this will work or not.. but download something like TinyUmbrella or any program that will allow you to kick it out of Recovery Mode and back to regular. May or may not work but worth a shot.

  • Tried updating to iOS 7 and now stuck in Recovery Mode!

    Hi All!
This morning I went to update my iphone 4S to iOS 7 and stopped it while it was verifying the update by turning off the phone and then back on (just changed my mind to updated at that time). When I finally went back to do the update it started up with the verifying update message and pretty quickly it went into recovery mode saying to connect iTunes. iTunes says it will erase my data and do the update and then re-install some of my previous data but the question is... Will it re-install all my data even if I haven't recently backed up my iphone?
If it won't restore everything then how do I get out of this recovery mode?? I tried by pressing the home and power button until the apple logo came on but it went straight back to recovery mode!
    Please help! Freaking out!

I may have fixed the issue. The errors in device manager were a driver error apparently windows didnt have appropriate drivers installed to allow itunes to recognize a device in recovery mode. I followed the paths in the guide above in more detail using this path ( http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538 under if device not recognized while in recovery mode) to alleviate the issue update is now installing appropriately ( i hope).
I will update if everything works correctly

  • HT1339 iPod Nano will not restore and is stuck in Recovery Mode.

The iPod Software is up to date (as is iTunes itself), and I recieve the following message after clicking "Restore iPod..." and supposedly restoring it:-
"iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore this iPod before it can be used with iTunes."
Attempting to restore it again (by clicking "Okay" on the dialog box and then "Restore iPod..." in iTunes) will repeat the above ad infinitum.

In some cases, the iPod might get into a state in which the battery needs to be drained before it can be reset so try these steps.
    1. Disconnect iPod from all power sources and leave it disconnected for about 24 hours.
    2. Reconnect iPod to the Apple iPod Power Adapter or the computer and reset it.
