  • Can't connect brand new iPod touch 4th gen to iTunes, please help!

I just got a new iPod touch, 16 gig 4th generation. I'm going through the setup process. Once I get to the option to connect through a network, I hit a problem. My internet at home requires a MAC address to be "invited" into the network before I can connect, however I can't get the MAC address until I complete setup!
So I choose the "Connect to iTunes" option instead. My computer recognizes that there is an iPod connected to it, but iTunes won't pick it up. There is nothing under "Devices".
    What do I do?? ):

I just retried a step I missed earlier in the articles before and ran into a problem here:
#5 Verify that the apple mobile devi usb driver is installed
    > for windows 7
    > if the apple mobile device usb driver is not listed
    > if only Apple iPod appears
    > for windows 7
I went through all these steps until #8: Click OK in the "Install from Disk" dialog. At this point it tries to load for a bit and I get this message:
"Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device.
Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. (Apple Mobile Device USB Driver)
Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37)"
As for your reply, I did indeed already try removing and reinstalling all the Apple programs with unfortunately no effect.
When I do the sync test, I get that one or more things failed: iTunes Helper not running and No iPod found.

I want to bring over music from my iTunes library on iMac to an ipod touch with another apple id. please help. Is this possible. In former versions of itunes this was posible. I can't find the solution is iTunes 11

Perhaps those apps require a newer version of iOS than is compatible with your iPod.

HOw do I unlock my daughters iPod touch with no computer? Please help me!

If she set up Find My iPod on it before this happened, follow the instructions listed under "If you don't have access to a computer" here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1212.  Otherwise, you would have to use a computer to restore it by following one of the other two solutions listed at the bottom of the article.

  • Ipod touch not showing in iTunes

    Anyone help?
On an imac with 10.6.1 Mac OS and iTunes 9.1.1
Recently the HDD failed and Apple replaced, but since then ipod touch not recognized in iTunes.
Have followed all the steps in the support document for resetting, rebooting, reinstalling etc. and ipod touch is recognized the first time after following this process, but then after that when I boot up my mac and iTunes a second time, it stops being recognized again. I cannot reinstall iTunes every time I want to sync my ipod touch!!! Anyone else had similar issues and solved?
    Thanks

I am having a similar issue. I have a 1st-generation iPod touch, and a MacBook running Snow Leopard (OS 10.6.3) and iTunes 9.1.1. It's a bit old now and the WiFi isn't very good, but my iPod touch still works perfectly, except that it doesn't show up in iTunes, which I discovered yesterday when I tried to sync some new music. I got my iTouch G1 the first week they came out and it worked perfectly with my iBook G4 running Tiger, and also worked perfectly with my new MacBook running Leopard which replaced the iBook when its logic board bit the dust. I recently updated to Snow Leopard (about a month ago now), and now my iTouch doesn't show up in my iTunes sidebar, but a volume shows up in Disk Utility that could only be this iPod and things do happen when I plug in the iPod (the first time I connected it since I added some Snow to my Leopard, iPhoto opened and prompted a download of a screenshot I'd taken with the iPod). I'm mostly writing this right now because the support page pertinent to this issue is down due to some sort of Apple web maintenance and I'm tired of getting the same error message. I actually have everything on my Mac backed up, and when I installed Snow Leopard I just did a basic installation but have been thinking of going back and doing a clean wipe and install and then getting the iTunes and iPhoto libraries et cetera off of my external HD. Would this fix my problem? I figure that since my iPod touch's files and system have been constant throughout this, it must be some issue with Snow Leopard, however before I wipe everything and have to set my system up again from scratch, I would like to know if this problem would be fixed by doing that or if there is some problem inherent in Snow Leopard that needs to be manually fixed.

  • Brand new iPod touch not showing in iTunes - HELP!!!

It showed when I first got it home, then I updated to iTunes 10.1, and it wouldn't show. Called Apple, they had me put iTunes in the trash (along with some other things) and reinstall it. It showed again, and everything was fine - until I updated to iTunes 10.1.1, then it was gone again! Called Apple again, they had me check all kinds of things. Then had me reset my iPod touch. It came up with an error, and they said it was a hardware problem, to send it back to them and they would send me a new one. Got the new one today, and guess what? IT DOESN'T SHOW UP IN ITUNES!!! I'm beyond frustrated! I don't want to have to reinstall iTunes every time there is an update. I have yet another call set up with them, but if there are any other suggestions before then, I'm all ears!

  • How the **** do I restore my grandaughter's ipod touch to factory settings? Please help. I have tried the itunes thing and it just goes in circles!!

Can anyone out there please tell me how to restore my grandaughter's ipod touch to factory settings?  Her mother has it blocked to her name. omg
    <Edited By Host>

I had the same problem a few days ago - just let it keep circling as it will eventually stop.  Make sure it's plugged into the computer and walk away.  Check on it periodically and do whatever the stupid thing says to do.  I think mine "circled" about 5 times before it finally worked. . .

  • My ipod touch is disabled! Someone please help!

My friend gave me his ipod touch because someone got a hold of it and put a password on it and then tried to guess it and he even asked the person what the password was but he wouldnt tell him so but then he just kept guessing and it kept going into lock down so he decided to restore it but he forgot about his computer crashing and he didnt have the orginal computer that it was setup on so he just gave up and he told me that i could have it and i've been trying to get it undisabled for about a month now.

I'm having a very similar problem. Let me clear this up and see if I'm right. Okay, so your friend gave you this itouch, and he put a pin on it. You didn't know the pin and after you entered it several times it locks for good. It asks you to connect it to the original computer, but it doesn't exist anymore, and when you connect it to your computer it says that you have to unlock the itouch before you can connect it to the computer, but at the same time it doesn't give you the keypad on the itouch anymore to unlock it. You, like me, have tried the 5 R's but can't restore it due to it not showing up on itunes when you connect it. I understand this isn't answering the question, I'm just clearing up what you said and adding parts you didn't because I am have the same exact problem.

  • IPOD DOESN'T SHOW MUSIC! PLEASE HELP!

I have no idea what happened. At first I saw a white screen and then I reset it. Finally the menu showed up as normal, but when I go to music, it does not list anything even though I listened to it just yesterday afternoon and it was fine. It's fully charged. I plugged it into my Windows computer, and it connects fine, my computer recognizes it but then even in iTunes it shows the amount of used/free space accurately except that the files on it that are music and account for 3.73 GB are shown as "other" in orange. So obviously the songs didn't disappear, but I really don't understand... Please help me!! Thanks!

    Restore the iPod.

  • My ipod touch isn't working. Please help!!

So I was using my Ipod touch, generation 4 32g, recently and I dropped it onto a wooden floor. The hard case (i got it at one of the stand things at the mall) fell off like it usually does when i drop it on a hard surface. I picked it up and it continued to work. I went to my room, bought a new app and played it for a while. When I was done using it I lightly tossed it onto my bed. A little while later I went and picked it up and tried to use it. The screen was completely black and would not turn on when I held down the power button. Usually when it dies because the battery is too low, when I hold the power button an i con comes up but it won't even do that. I have tried charging it but it won't work. Is there any way to fix it without needing to get a new one? I don't know if there is a warrenty on it because I got it as a gift. If you have had this problem or a simmilar one could you please let me know how much it would cost without a warrenty or with a warrenty. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Your iPod is probably covered by the warranty.  Check here:
Apple - Support - Check Your Service and Support Coverage
However, it does not cover misuse such as caused by dropping the iPod.
    - Try resetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - See if placing the iPod in recovery will allow iTunes to see the iPod so you can restore the iPod.  For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
