Ipod touch 4 video sorting

I have just upgraded to the ipod touch 4 and find most of my tv shows in the 'unknown' category. They are sorted by name in itunes but when synced to my ipod I have to click on 'unknown' in video. Is there a setting on my ipod I need to adjust?

It's a known issue yet Apple have not released a fix.

3rd generation iPod Touch and Video Out - "whoops!!!"

Before I jump to any conclusions about Apple, here is my experience with the Video out operation of my brand new 3rd generation 64 GB iPod Touch. This is my third iPod and about a year ago I decided (at great personal expense) to purchase the Apple Composite AV Cable (despite the fact that you can buy copies of the cable on eBay for 1/10th the price). When I plugged this cable into my new iPod touch, the Video Out option was greyed out. I tried lots of different things but eventually gave up and went to the Apple Store to see what it said about compatability. Sure enough, the 3rd Generation Touch is the ONLY iPod, iPhone etc not mentioned. I call my friendly apple support person who says "*of course it will work, I am 100% sure*". I then jokingly asked if he would give me $1000 if he was wrong and begrudgingly he put me on hold "just to check". 15 minutes later (unusual for Apple) he came back to me saying that *I "might" be right but he was 100% sure that if I connected my cable via a Universal Dock it would work.*
Now, before I go out and spend any more money on a Universal Dock, has anybody tried this? Why would apple make the change ONLY to the 3rd Gen iPod touch?
I have noticed that there is one nasty non-apple cable on the market that claims it will work BUT it doesn't have the ability to charge...... besides I ONLY buy legit Apple products.
Any comments?

Wow Apple pulled tha last post almost as quick as it was written.
I have been in the IT industry for 18 years, when I started out I read the Mac bible and got a job supporting 1000 macs (remember the wonderful days of the symbol of the little bomb and all you could do is re-install the OS - what a joke). We ditched the Mac due to limited application support (nothing has changed much has it). I did not look at another apple product for 15 years, got a Touch for free ( CC points) Firmware 2.2, loved the little bugger, had a whole new respect for Apple. Happily got 2 cables from eBay for $5.00 for both, video to the tv, charging, audio, best of all worlds. Then, I upgrade to version 3.01 for $5.00, what a deal, copy paste, etc. till I plug in my cables and nothing works anymore. Take it to the car for my FM receiver,. only mono now. Oh sorry you now have to dish out $50.00 for our cables (the /B version not the /A cause we even screwed our customers that bought our own cables) and oh ya you can only buy over priced FM receiver products that pay bloated license fees to Apple. Then we come to your story, you buy "Only Apple products" which do not work (check for the /A model of the cable, you need the /B (/B= Buy again?? Maybe) and then the support guy tells your to go out and spend yet another $50.00 on a universal dock and you are asking if you should do it. Sure spend another $50.00 for the chip enabled dock, it will work, hmm, I think I have put together a pc for less than $100.00

I spent maybe 20 minutes reading Apple info pages, an iPod comparison page, and even quickly searched the User Guide, but saw nothing about shooting video anywhere.
Sure, it talked about video, but it wasn't clear to me if that was only for playback.
I guess I am missing it, or else it doesn't do it, which would be strange.
If it does, where is this info on the Apple Web site? That is, links to both video and photo shooting?

Video recorded on Ipod touch 4G appears "HD" as advertised when viewed on the Ipod. Why does it not have anywhere near the same quality when viewed on a computer?

How are you judging the quality on another device? HD is defined by the number of pixels

Ipod touch recorded video choppy when watch on my PC

When I try to watch recorded videos on my PC they are extremly choppy. I have tried to watch in Quick time but the color is off and no sound. When I try to watch in picasa it is too choppy/jerky to watch with no sound. How can I watch my recorded videos on my pc?

Maybe since your pc is running XP that it isn't fully compatible and it doesn't read the video from the ipod touch as it would on a new operating system? Have you tried a friends computer? I would try that.

Ipod touch online video issue

Hello, well i have an ipod touch 4g, had for about a month and has been working fine. Ive been using youtube app and veoh as well, and both had been working fine. Now there seems too be some problems with them. When trying too play a certain video it loads up so slow and gets worsts each time, but now it doesnt even loads or play. Is there anything to fix this problem i would like to know. Thanks!

Next step is restore to factory defaults via iTunes. As you mentioned, you may have some corruption which is now in the backup. You will lose all date in any apps when you do this o you show get any necessary data out before you do this.

Rented movie not showing up on iPod Touch's "videos"

I just rented my first movie on iTunes and went through the process of "moving" it to my iPod Touch 2G. In iTunes it shows that it is now on my iPod, and I can see that my video filespace has significantly increased since the transfer. However, on my iPod, under "videos" the movie does not show up. The only items listed are two TV episodes which I earlier purchased and transferred. I tried moving it back to my computer, and then moving it back again to my iPod, but no luck. Any thoughts on how to access my rented movie on my iPod?

I have the same exact issue. Rented a movie yesterday. itunes downloaded it. it was in my library. i moved it to the device. I synced. it shows it is taking up space on my ipod but I cannot find where I can play it. Even installed the new 2.2.1 software and that didnt affect this. how do I play what I rented?

Why does my Ipod touch Music/Video apps crash after update to OS4

Updated Ipod touch (64GB) yesterday to OS4. Today I cant run the Music or the Video apps. They will LOAD, but after 3 seconds, the crash. Any ideas?
Ive tried to do the reboot thing (DFU??) that I saw in another post but same issue.
Tried a search several times but have not seen any posts so far with this particular issue.

I'm having the same issue as well, I'm currently at work so as of right now I can't try to restore mine, but the strange thing with mine is that I updated mine the day the iOS 4.0 came out and had no problems until last night. Now the music and video sections keep crashing after just a few seconds. Also all my Podcast are gone, the only things missing and I even re-downloaded them last night and they're still gone.

IPod Touch 4G, "Video" program crashes after Update to iOS 4.2

After updating iPod Touch 4G to iOS4.2 the program "videos" just crashes.
Details: I can sync the iPod touch with the computer and the videos reappear on first launch of "videos". All videos play o.k. Second launch of "videos" gives me a white screen for several seconds, then "videos" crashes. Every time I launch it, it keeps crashing.
There are 2 conditions that make them reappear and "videos" runs normally (but only once!):
Method 1: Sync with my MacBook
Method 2: I fully close the program "Videos", then change language on the iPod touch to english (any other language seems to work, too. It's the change that seems to be important). Launching "videos" after that successfully shows all my videos. Second launch and the crash is back. Every time. Until I change the language again.
I tried full restore, and I tried Resetting the iPod, both with no success.
BTW: The Video Files are o.k., I can launch them using playlists and they work just fine.
This is really strange. Can anyone help?
Or, can anyone help how to revert back to iOS 4.1?

Very annoying problem and it hasn't been solved in the new iOS 4.3 either!!
After two genius appointments, no solution has been offered from Apple, only a new device, which unfortunately came with iOS 4.2 installed, so I couldn't even leave it on the old iOS 3 and not update it. Although having said that, on this device the Video app was working, but only every other time. Weird I know! But now it won't work at all after the newest update... back to square one.
There are work arounds though, as mentioned in the above posts, if you change the music videos into films then they work perfectly.
Strange how it's only Music Vids that seem to cause this problem!?

Ipod Touch 5G - video choppy all of a sudden audio fine

Videos have played fine now all of a sudden last few days, they are all choppy - audio is fine though. It is not my internet since my other computers not having this issue only Ipod Touch 5G
I first noticed it on Facebook, then went to youtube to my own videos and they are also choppy. Any thoughts out there?
I have done all updates and all.

New ipod touch/ipad video breaks up

i have homemade videos on my mac..they play ok on my old ipod touch, however they are lousy on my ipad and also lousy on my new ipod touch...what's going on.. and can i download something to fix the problem, so i can watch them without them breaking up??thanks

i have a 6 mo old ipod touch and the video looks/plays fine on it, however on my ipad it breaks up, this is not new as the videos have never played on the ipad,lousy= "it plays but it is not syncing properly as lines breakup every frame as it is playing"..the new ipod touch i got today does the same thing as the ipad...but the old ipod touch plays them just fine..

No iPod touch will mirror the screen with any cable. Mirroring via VGA or Digital AV (HDMI) is for later model iPhones and iPads only.

Ipod touch frozen up sorta....

ipod touch won't turn on, unless plugged into the car charger ???

though the other day i ran the battery down, then charged it up with my car charger.....now it only responds when plugged in ???
the battery level is on full and the pod plays perfectly while plugged in. As soon as i pull the cord....it shuts down.
i push the buttons....and ...nothin'
i tried to reset it by pressing both buttons for 10 sec. ... nothin'
i tried plugging it into my computer.....nothin !
computer doesn't recognize it, no apple logo on the pod screen....nothin!
now when i bring it back to my car and plug it into the cigarette charger.....the apple logo shows up for a couple of minutes as if the battery had been dead and then the slider appears and i can access the pod.
if i don't unlock the slider....the screen goes blank as it should, but with the charge still attached....everything works great !!! and it says the battery is fully charged but as soon as i shut off the car(and power) boom ! Nothin!
what's going on here ???

p.s. i just had a thought...do you think it would help if i brought it to my car so as i can access it, and then hold the 2 buttons for 10 seconds to force it to reset itself???

Yes, try to reset your ipod first. If this does not help, try to connect in recovery mode: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
If still not luck, get in contact with Apple to get it serviced.
Can you charge using the adapter that came with your ipod?

Ipod touch 4g video thumbnail problem?

I have an iphone 4 but bought my wife a new 32g touch which came yesterday. All seems fine except thumbnails of videos transfered to the device are shown as a sort of negative. Video's shot on the touch are fine but anything else like vids shot on my ip4 and movies converted from dvd to work on the iphone/ipod show up as negative/dark thumbnails. The videos themselve run perfectly its just the thumbnails. Anyone else had this problem? I've never had this happen with any of my iphones or my wifes 1st gen tough.

I have the exact same problem and I still cannot find a solution. This happens to videos that I convert to play through my ipod app as well. I'm starting to believe this is related to a bug in iOS 4.0. Hopefully this problem will be corrected on the next iOS update.
