IPod Touch 4G Alarm Volume

I just purchased a new 4G Touch and got it all set up with the data from my 3G and noticed right away that the volume for the clock alarm was about half as loud as the 3G. I remember hearing of issues with the alarm due to the setting for the new year but I can't see where this would affect the volume.
Any ideas, and yes the volume is all the way up.

I had the same problem - go into your settings, sound, and there is a separate volume for "Ringer and Alerts" you can slide it up to full volume or turn on the "Change with Buttons" feature.

Is there no sound period? I mean nothing through the headphones or the speaker? If the sound works only through the speaker or just through the headphones the switch inside the headphone port maybe stuck open. Try plugging and unplugging 10 to 12 times to unstick it. If no sound at all, go into Settings>Music>Volume Limit. See if it is turned on, if so check that the limit is not turned down to zero. If still not the problem try a soft reset, press and hold the power and home buttons together until the Apple logo appears, about 15 seconds, then release. if still no joy go into Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. If still no joy, connect to iTunes via the cable and Restore to backup. If that doesn't work Restore to new. Just remember to save all your stuff that can be wiped before you restore, pictures, music, contacts etc. If none of this works, then maybe a hardware issue contact Apple Genius Bar or store and have your iPod evaluated. Hope this helps, Good luck.

  • Ipod Touch 3g - alarms are silent, so not very useful!

I have a 3rd generation touch that works great for most things, only last night for the first time I tried setting an alarm (not an app - the built-in alarms on the Clock page). My problem is that I can't really hear it. If I crank the volume way way up with earphones in, I can just about make out, say, marimba or alarm, but with the phones unplugged, or volume at normal, it's hopeless.
In Settings, Sounds, all 5 items are set to On (although none seem relevant to an alarm anyway).
How is this supposed to work???

Wow... I'd have thought this would've been a simple one. So either no one uses an ipod touch 3g for an alarm clock, or there's something very peculiar about mine.

  • IPod Touch Generation 1 VOLUME!!!!!

I read somewhere in these forums that the volume bar appears when you connect the headphones and disappears when you disconnect them. You could try that.

  • How Can I Play All Songs On My IPod Touch at Same Volume?

I have an IPod Touch 5th Generation which I bought this year. I also have a 4 year old  Apple IMac desktop with ITunes version  11.0.4(4).
I have the latest version of OS Mountain Lion.
I sync songs from ITunes on my IMac desktop to the IPod Touch. Songs play back at different volumes on the IPod Touch.
I want them all to play at the same volume.
Almost all of the songs in my ITunes on my IMac were downloaded from many different music websites,
very few from the Apple Store.
I also have an IPod Nano 5th Generation which I bought a few years ago. I copied songs from ITunes on my desktop to my IPod Nano.
But I did not sync them. Just transferred or copied many of the songs from ITunes, without syncing.  The ITunes songs appear to play at equal volume on
my IPod Nano but not on my IPod Touch. For Settings on my IPod Touch, I set Sound Check to On.
Regarding ITunes Preferences (ITunes is on my desktop IMac):
The Sound Enhancer and the Sound Check are both checked, and have been checked for a long time. Therefore all the songs
on my IPod Touch should all be played at the same volume, shouldn't they, since they were synced from ITunes.
Doesn't the Sound Check on ITunes control that?
If they all play on the same volume on my ITunes, shouldn't all songs play on the same volume on my IPod Touch?
I noticed today the Crossfade in ITunes Preferences on my IMac was not checked. I thought it had been, but maybe I accidentally unchecked it one day.
I checked it today but was not sure what time to put on it. I put the time in the middle, which is about 6 seconds. Not sure if this is OK.
I'd like one song to come on just about when the previous song ends. Any suggestions? (There does not seem to be a Crossfade option
in the ITouch Music Settings). If I use Crossfade in ITunes, will it crossfade when I play the IPod Touch, since it synced the ITunes?
Also, I have the music setting for EQ on my IPod Touch set to OFF. I assume I don't need this, but please let me know if I do.

Settings>Music>Sound Check will HELP to normalise the volume of your music but it only averages it out.

  • Why does my ipod touch turn down volume

I've had my ipod touch for a long time, but since a week it has been having problems.
Whenever I start my ipod touch, it automatically turns off the volume.
I'm not able to put up the volume with the buttons on the side.
Whenever I turn up the volume, it goes back down again. Except for when I hold it down.
    What do I do now?

Try the following to rule out a software problem.
    - Reset Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • IPod Touch 32 - weak volume

Hello iPod Touch users. Thanks for helping.
*My problem is that I only get weak volume from all media I play with the standard Apple earphones.* When I set the volume slide on the Touch to maximum, I just get medium level of sound - nice for podcasts when the room is dead quiet, but AWFUL for music! In the street, airports and on planes, the sound is even made weaker due to the ambient noise levels. At that maximum level it is useless unless used in a quiet place!!
Until this week all I have listened to has been podcasts and the weak volume has been ok until I used it at an airport lounge and on a plane.
*Today I downloaded my first music album and the same situation applies.*
*So, I went to a shop that has iPods on display to try out - the Nano I used nearly blew my brains out!!! So, I suspect I have wrong settings somewhere!!*
I went through the "preferences" and "get info" screens in iTunes (on my MacBook, running MS XP Pro) and did what the user manuals said to do - set sound to max..... blah blah....!
*SO, I ASK WHAT AM I DOING WRONG? HOW DOES ONE MAXIMISE THE VOLUME ABILITIES OF THE TOUCH? (surely it is not a weaker performer than a Touch?!).*
Thanks for your time and help.

    Hi
Have you tried checking that the volume limit on your Touch is not set low?
From your home screen go Settings>Music>Volume Limit.
Now scroll that all the way to the right if it is not already and this should increase the volume for all media played through the iPod.

  • IPod Touch 2G loses volume

I'm having a very annoying problem lately in which I may have to send my iPod in for a repair or replacement.
First things first, it's a 2nd generation 32GB iPod Touch (latest software) and I have already tried restoring.
I try listening to a song and I'm listening and the sound randomly shuts off and the volume bar disappears completely, but the iPod acts as if it were still playing. It's very annoying and anything I can do to fix it would be great. Headphones aren't the problem, as I have used those with my computer.
Any other further details needed, let me know.
    Message was edited by: BBFootBallr54

By the way, just kind of tested it. Seems to be the headphone port. Because if I let the external speaker play, it seems to go without problems. Might have to send it in, but I just want to confirm.

  • Ipod Touch 2nd Gen Volume Issues

Alright, I JUST updated my ipod touch last night to the newest version update. Since that update my volume shows up on the screen as muted but the display will not go away. I go into settings to the volume settings and it disappears on that screen, but when I move the slider to the right it automatically goes back down again. I have tried resetting, and restoring as well as deleting some applications and none have worked. I have figured out that my speaker does work, and that plugging the ipod into the computer, as well as headphones does not fix the problem. I have also figured out by going to the youtube application that I can listen to music as long as I hold the volume button to the right, but the moment I let go it automatically goes down.
Now here is the kicker, a while back my Ipod fell into a cup of water, I pulled it out and riced it for a day. The sleep and volume buttons on the top and side of the ipod no longer work. Now prior to this update EVERYTHING worked fine with the exception of those buttons. I know a lot of people suggest holding down the sleep button, but that is not an option for me. So what suggestions do you all have?
    Version: 4.2.1 (8C148)
Please help me super super annoying. Is there a way to go back to the old version?

Yes it pould be caused by the sweat, especially if you are using the headphones with remote. SInce the remote can control volume.Sweat can mimic pressing the volume control. Even if you are not using the remote headphones, sweat could get in the headphone jack and activate the volume control.
Try the standard fixes to rule out a hardware problem:
    - Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • My IPod touch 4G's volume and lock buttons have been not working properly What should I do that isn't too costly

My iPod volume and lock button have not been working right ever since its battery died it did start to work again but then it stopped working. I'm very confused about how I should go about fixing this please help.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device As best you can). Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
If not under warranty or abused

  • Ipod touch - Clock/alarm

I love the touch, the clock and alarm functions though are a pain. I set the alarm and when the time is up a polite massage appears on the screen to inform of the fact....no sound is omitted... and yes the settings are set to sound and yes when I chose one of the sounds and on selection I can audible hear the sound but not when alarm is set or when timer is used (it tells me that "when Timer Ends checkmate") BUT NO SOUND
    So help if you can

i have this issue too but i found out there's only a half cure for it. i managed to get the alarm to work by plugging in my ipod to itunes and then restart it by switching it off and on again(hold sleep button and slide to switch off).
that being done, i can have the alarm play through the built-in speaker and headphone even though i've set it to off in my sound settings. but the thing is, when you sync your ipod to your itunes again, the same problem returns unless you do the procedure again (switch it off and on).
hopefully the next update will see a fix for this.

My Itouch volume slider has disappeared after software update

just to clarify what sam says, since 3.0 the volume slider controls are no longer available unless you have your headphones plugged in.

  • IPod Touch 2nd gen 4.2 update volume problems

I just updated my 2nd gen ipod touch and the volume no longer works. The volume buttons dont work, when I play music or a video theres no volume bar underneath the play/pause control. The volume will only work when I have headphones plugged into the ipod but when I unplug the headphones the volume bar disappears. Any solutions???

I have 4.2 also. I was having sort of the same problem. My problem was the volume bar appeared but in some apps it was useless. Visit settings sounds you should see the volume slider. Under that it will say change with buttons. Make sure it says on. Hope this helps.
