IPod Touch 4G and iPad 2 won't update to iOS 5?

Hey, I have an iPod Touch 4G and iPad 2 that are both running. 4.3.5 and I am trying to update to iOS 5. I downloaded it for both devices and clicked update, it backs up the device, extracts software, and then say verifying restore with Apple. Then a message pops up saying, "Your device could not be restored. Your device is not eligible for the requested build" and it wont go any further for both devices. I have iTunes 10.5 and all the latest software on the Mac and no security software. I have also tried deleting the .ipsw files for both and re-downloading but that wont work. HELP PLEASE!!!

Okay nevermind, I feel stupid, I had set up those two devices on my previous laptop and thats why it wouldn't sync.

Yes. You can set the payment method to "None" once you log into iTunes on your PC/Mac. I have it set up this way.

It sounds like you actually have a 2G iPod touch which can only go as high as iOS 4.2.1. See this article to help you identify what model and generation your iPod Touch is.

I have a similar issue happenning with my ipod touch 64GB running IOS 6.0.1. My music content is stored via itunes on my Snow Leopard macbook pro as well (and not in the cloud). The music on my ipod (which is sync'd to my macbook pro when I connect via usb) has randomly disappeared about 3 or 4 times lately, not during sync'ing and unrelated to battery charge levels. Fortunately I have been able to restore it by restarting my macbook pro then re-syncing the ipod, which it is now doing as I write, but it takes hours (for over 3000 songs). Having looked at a few other forum discussion pages, it seems this may be a bug related to IOS 6 updates and using music/itunes and podcast playing apps. The same thing has intermittently occurred with some other content such as downloaded podcasts, iplayer content and photos. Once I reconnected the ipod it synced and apparently restored the content, but I can't understand why it lost it in the first place, and its very annoying. Lets hope the reinstalling works on my ipod tonight....up to 248 of 3326 songs syncing as I write....

Why does downloaded videos from iTunes freeze for a few minutes and then continues. this happen with my iPod Touch 4G and iPad 2.

Hello, I have a 2nd generation iPod touch and it will not update or install apps. When I try to update an app, or install an app the app icon turns gray and the loading bar comes up inside the icon and the it says, "Waiting...". Any help with how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

Resetting your iPod should deleting the waiting and will probably solve your problem:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

I need to get my iPod touch 4 and iPad 1 in sync from 2 different computers

I have a very specific situation that I've been unable to find an answer for. Please help! Here's my current situation:
I've synced my iPad to my iMac G5 PowerPC using my AppleID account that I always use. I've synced my iPod touch 4th gen to my iBook G4 using the same account. I thought that after signing in under that ID, I would be able to download the apps that I already purchased for iPad on the iBook. I found out that was not the case and trying to sync my iPad(in it's current iMac-synced state) to the iBook would result in the erasure of everything on it.
What I would like to do is be able to start syncing my iPad with the iBook but not lose anything. And then beyond that, have my iPod and iPad both in perfect sync-same apps, same everything. Can I do this?

neither my ipod touch (6. generation) nor iPad 2 is listed in iTunes 10.5.3.3 (Windows Vista) since 1 week. No system change done.
iPad is visible only if I choose WLan Snc.
All USB ports work with other devices. Both iPad and iPod are visible in Win Vista.
Every idea is welcome...

I meant 6 th generation ipod nano touch. Ok anyway, problem was solved by complete deinstallation of iTunes only. After new installation everything is okay without havng touchsd hardware, cables etc.

By taking down all antivirus/antispyware software and firewalls?

Hmm that's odd it's not working for you. My fiance was having the same issue with upgrading his phone. He took down all his antivirus/antispyware software and firewalls on his own computer and he upgraded his phone with the first try.
If you have spy ware such as Spy-bot Search and Destroy, Ad-Aware, SuperAnti Spyware and etc, you must turn those off too. I selected "Download and Upgrade".
If you turned it all off, try the "download only" then once it downloads upgrade it by clicking upgrade? Maybe that will work?
Also if you have two firewalls, you must turn both off. I had two running without knowing LOL

Ipad won't update past IOS 4.2

When iPad (first gen.) is hooked up to itunes and try to update it says IOS 4.2 is the current version. When we try to restore ipad, we get 'there was a problem downloading the software for the ipad. It just says that it has the most up-to-date software. From what I can tell, when they originally released the 3rd generation iPod Touch, the 16 gb one still used the 2nd generation hardware. At the time, it was still called 3rd generation. As recently as last summer when iOS 4 was released, it was still refered to as 3rd generation (the iOS 4 release information had asterisks on the 3rd gen iPod Touch to say that various features like multitasking wouldn't work with the 16 gb model). Now Apple seems to have retroactively decided to just call it 2nd generation. I'm not very happy since it was sold to me as 3rd generation...
