IPod Touch 4G and iTunes 10.2.2 sync issues on mac?

Hey,
I recently purchased an iPod Touch 4G 32GB as a replacement for my iPod Touch 2G 8GB, I plugged it into iTunes on the first boot up of the iPod, like normal, and expected to be presented with the usual set of prompts about how I would like to set up my iPod. However, the iPod appeared in the sidebar, but nothing happened to the main portion of the program, and upon unplugging the iPod, iTunes simply crashed, and I was presented with an error message. I put the iPod into DFU mode, and tried a manual restore, then had to restore from a separate firmware file I downloaded for 4.3.2.
I assume from the failure of all of these methods, there must be some sort of problem with iTunes 10.2.2 for Mac and iOS 4.3.2 for iPod Touch 4G. In the end, i managed to get the iPod operational on my PC in an older version of iTunes, however, it still does not sync properly, and if I try to sync movies to the iPod, iTunes crashs like it did before. Is there a known fix for this problem? Or have I got a faulty device? Also, the sync messages are all distorted.
Thanks!

I have an ipod touch 4g and itunes 10.5 but everytime i try updating my itouch to ios5 it comes up with error 3194
    please help   thank you

What was the complete wording of the error message?
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • AirPlay mirroring with iPod Touch 4g and iTunes

    Can I use AirPlay on iOS 6.1.5 ( iPod touch 4g ) to iTunes 11 ( Windows XP )?
If yes, can I play certain games (e.g. Minecraft)
    Thanks,

The only way to AirPlay an iPod to a Windows PC is with
Reflector - AirPlay mirror your iPhone or iPad to any Mac or PC, wirelessly.
but that requires a 5G iPod

  • Ipod touch 4 and iTunes are not Friends

I have a gen 4 iPod touch (64 gig), and for some reason, all of a sudden and without warning it will not back up or properly sync to iTunes.  I can’t determine if the problem is the iPod or the computer.
I have a Gateway laptop running Windows 7 as the o/s.  I have completed virus checks and malware checks with no issues.
When the iPod is not connected and I start iTunes it will not load the iStore (no error message), but everything will function.  Once I connect my iPod it’s like everything goes into slow motion, and the sync times out.  I am running iTunes 10.5.1.  The iPod is on the previous version, but cannot update it because it times out.
I have tried to uninstall iTunes (and all apple software) and re-install it.  I have even tried to install iTunes 10.3.1 and try to sync it, but I get a prompt that the library is of a newer version and is not compatible.
I have tried to reset the iPod to its original settings without any true success.
For some reason and this may sound crazy, but once I uninstalled iTunes it seemed to me that my whole computer increased in speed.
I would say that maybe the problem was a firewall issue, but I run AVG freeware (and the standard Windows security) and I do not see any sections with a list of software that has connection limitations.
    Any thoughts?

Ok, I have determined that it is iTunes and not the device, because I connected an iPad to iTunes with the same reaction.  This in combination with the fact that iTunes will not bring up the iStore with or without a device attached.
I have turned off the AVG, and the O/S security to see if that might free the connection but it proved ineffectual.
I have tried uninstalling all Apple products again and reinstalling but this has not worked either.
Is there anything I have not tried?  I would hate to have to format…

  • IPod touch frozen and itunes cannot detect iPod?

It just began with me connecting my iPod to my mac and a window popping up saying "The software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly, and you must manuually eject the ipod before each disconnect".I didn't know how to update it again (because my itunes is the lastest version already). You can't even see the contents (music, apps, books) of my ipod on itunes. I forgot to eject it manually today and now my ipod is frozen on the homescreen where all the apps are. Its been frozen for like an hour. I've tried holding the off button but to no avail.Now... my frozen ipod doesn't even show up on itunes. I need help!! (its a pretty old ipod touch with no camera)

Did you try to reset by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, untilt he Apple logo comes back again? If this does not work, try to connect in recovery mode, explained in this article:

  • Ipod Touch 4th Gen - itunes only pretends to sync

i have an ipod touch 4th gen 32gb (fw 4.1) that won't sync with my pc. the initial sync worked fine as all the songs and apps were transfered to the touch. now that i wanted to put some new tunes, vids and apps on it, but itunes doesn't do anything. whenever i press sync, everything looks just fine. the little window says: sync step 1, bla bla and finishes syncing without adding or deleting new/old content. i tried every option possible i could think of. i even 'downgraded' my itunes from 10.1.1 to 9.2.something.
i found out that by clicking the little arrow next to my ipod, i was able to drag and drop my music, playlists and vids there, but what about my apps?
the next day i tried adding new music by doing that, my whole music and video library was gone and the content of the touch won't show up in itunes anymore (when i click the arrow). and since itunes wouldn't sync my touch, i now got an ipod without any music.
english isn't my native language, my apologies if i got some stuff wrong
    thank you guys in advance
btw: is the equalizer issue of ios 4 solved with 4.2.1?

  • I cannot sync my Mac's Address Book to my iPod Touch (2G), via iTunes. All else syncs, just not Contacts. Why?

I realize I can't do this with iCloud, but now I can't with a cord and iTunes. I even reset to factory settings and tried again. I even tried the advanced option to "replace information on this iPod with information from this computer", clicking Contacts. But nothing. I have no contacts in my iPod. What am I missing here?

I do not think the problem was solved - what was completed was a work around.
I have the same problem - open itunes, plug in iphone, select info, synch contacts, select merge contacts (iphone contacts will move to address book and visa versa) Mac to Iphone success - Iphone to Mac - no go.
This is how it should work - and it is not???  Why?  How do you make the itunes synch work?
Synching with mobile me is a great work around - if you use mobile me.
Synching with icloud is great to backup but does not get contacts added on your iphone onto your mac.
How do you get contacts added to your iphone into address book on your map with synch?

  • IPod touch 5th generation 16 GB is having syncing issues

I have been encountering problem after problem with syncing music on my iPod touch. It's crazy how something that should be simple and quick, is now a pain in the *** to do. I'm trying to simply sync music from my iTunes library onto my iPod touch, and every now and then, for some weird off-the-wall reason, it gets stuck on this "waiting for changes to be applied". Now I've seen other people on here who have encountered the same issue and they're getting like 6 to a dozen step answers that all involve ERASING or RESTORING your entire data JUST to get rid of such a dumb issue like that. Well, sure enough, I did that (or have done it. At least 5 times now to be exact)! And it always seems to fix the issue TEMPORARILY. It'll sync just fine for 3 to 4 weeks just fine after those weeks are up (oh here we go with this **** again) I have to go through the process of restoring my entire iPod and setting the factory settings up all over again. Then it'll sync again. For about 4 weeks, of course. Oh, but now, yippee!!! Another issue!!! Now that the same "waiting for changes to bs" popped up, I did the same thing. Restore the iPod, set up the factory settings, select my last backup. Oh, but now, NOW I hook the iPod up to my computer to sync and it says that it doesn't have enough free space to sync the SAME **** THINGS THAT IT'S BEEN SYNCING FOR THE LAST 5 TIMES THAT I HAVE WENT THROUGH THIS PROCESS!! I had around 1650 songs, PLUS four apps and it synced those and still had EXTRA store of about 200 MB or so left. But now all of a sudden it tells me "You need 500 MB (I don't remember the exact amount) of free space to sync". OH REALLY?! So basically it needs extra space to sync the same thing it's been syncing just fine for the last five times I've done this?! Whatever. FINE. So I remove the 3 big apps out of the 5 and now, OH NOW, ANOTHER PROBLEM!!! Now, I delete those 3 apps, and it tells me I need 700 MB or so in order to sync!!! Remember when it said it need 500 MB in order to sync like I said above? Yeah. So basically, it's going backwards. Now, I delete all 5 of the apps along with about 15 songs: and can you guess what it does? NOW IT TELLS ME I NEED 950 MB IN ORDER TO SYNC!!! THE MORE ITUNES DATA I DELETE TO GIVE IT SPACE TO SYNC, THE MORE SPACE IT NEEDS IN ORDER FOR IT TO SYNC!!! JUST WHAT IN THE BLUEST OF BLUE HELLS IS GOING ON WITH THIS ITUNES??? It's just PROBLEM, after PROBLEM, after PROBLEM, after PROBLEM ever since I've used iTunes. And really all I want to do is sync some music onto my iPod. Why does that have to be such a pain in the ***??? Any advice would be awesome, especially if you're experiencing the very same issue as me; which I highly doubt because it's been a pain in order to find anyone on this site with this issue. Appreciate it.

    Assuming Windows, have you tried:
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
You say you have iOS 7.0.6. If that is try update to the latest, 7.1.1

  • IOS 6 and iTunes 10.7 WiFi Sync issues

WiFi sync works for a day or two then from the device is just keeps saying Looking for Mario Michela's iMac...  I restart iMac, reboot iPhone and or iPad. connect via usb cable, uncheck WiFi Sync (apply), recheck WiFi Sync. It will work again for 2 or 3 days. Then starts to fail again.
I've tried using Eithernet and wifi on the mac (no difference)
I've tried turning off the firewall (no difference)
I've reset all setting on the iPhone (no difference)
I've reset SyncServices Folder (/System/Library/Frameworks/SyncServices.framework/Versions/A/Resources/resetsy nc.pl full) -(No difference)
I've called Apple Care 3 times, I keep getting passed around because sync is between product departments.
iOS doesn't support desktop applications, iMac doesn't support mobile devices..
I'm hoping iTunes 11 fixes this issue.. This issue didn't occur prior to iTunes 10.7.

I am getting sync issues too (although on OSX) - seems like others are getting issues too:

  • HT201210 Anyone having Windows 8.1 and ITunes, IOS 7.1 sync issues

I'm having multiple issues with all my devices that have been updated to Windows 8.1 (PC) and the latest updates for ITunes, especially on the devices that have already been updated to IOS 7.1. I'm only referencing my IPhone 5S because it was the first device I had trouble with. I am having issues with all my other devices too but this is the latest hardware and software from both Apple and Windows. Please advise. Would like to know if it's just user-error or a systemic issue.
    Thanks in Advance

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

You buy one and only one download.
As it should have been transferred to your computer when you synced, you can contact itunes support and ask for an exception.

    Disabled
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased. That is how it works
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

It sounds like you essentially have a new computer and unless you restored from a backup your iTunes library would be empty.  You can transfer your iTunes purchases from your iPod to the computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
SInce you changed syncing computers. after you move the stuff you need to restore the iPod to factory defaults and sync the stuff back to your iPod.  If you had the iPod backup file you could restore from backup.
If you have non-iTunes pruchases you can copy them to your computer by using one of the third-party programs discussed in this previous discussion:
