IPod touch 4G causes home router/network crash

Hi. I have an iPod touch 4G, version 4.3.4 (8K2). Everything was working fine.
-One morning I wake up and my home internet connection is down (LAN/WLAN), I cannot even access my router web interface. I restart (power down and up) my modem/wifi router (2-in-1) and everything works again for a while before going down again. This keeps happening - sometimes lasts 20mins, sometimes a few hours. I call ISP tech support (check the line, factory reset router), read router forums etc. etc. Nothing solves it.
-In the mean time, my 4G has a lot of trouble connecting to the home network. Takes a long time to get DHCP and has the wrong (auto) DNS assigned, just doesn't "instant connect" like it used to. Even when I assign a static IP and manually enter DNS, Router etc. it has a very hard time. I have tried "Forgetting Network", resetting Network Setting on iPod, restarting the iPod and rediscovering the network doesn't help.
-Every other iOS (iPad, MacBook Air) and Windows or Android wifi device connects to the home network fine.
-Because of this I unconciously leave my iPod switched off - network starts to behave. One morning, I switch my iPod back on and try to connect - instantly my home network goes down. All the other wifi enabled devices simultaneously drop connections and the wifi SSID is gone. I cannot connect to router web interface (via LAN) until I restart the router.
-So I seem to have isolated it to the iPod and investigate more. I see that when I try to connect with the iPod, the DHCP takes forever and when it is "trying" to get assigned, the network is not accessible to any device. Most of the time the network crashes as usual. A couple of times, after a while the network comes back up and the iPod connects but then sure enough it crashes again soon.
I have tried everything short of resetting the entire iPod and buying a new router. Has anyone else had this problem? The only reference I have found in these support forums is here and there doesn't seem to be much noise on the topic and it's now quite old.

Any help appreciated.

Yes. I tried this the first day when I thought it was a line problem and contacted my ISP. They suggested I try this and we went over it on the phone. The internet did come back on and I naiively thought it was fixed but after a while it went down again. At that time I did not know that it was my ipod that was causing the problem. That was only after looking back on the whole thing that I realized that.
Actually whilst googling the problem I found a youtube video of the exact same thing happening to someone but there were no solutions or comments on why this is happening.

  • I can no longer access the web on my IPod Touch through my home wifi network.

I have an I Pod Touch with operating system 4.2.1.  It has worked fine the past year plus.  Suddenly, I can no longer access webpages on it.  When  try to load a website, looks like it is trying to open the page, but it never fully loads and times out. My I Pod indicates that it recognizes my wifi network and I have tried resetting both my I Pod and my router.  Weirder yet, I can access my Yahoo email on my I Pod and if there is a website link embedded in an email message, i can open it and access the page that way.  Any link on the web page opened through my email however does not work.  My home computer, which is on the same wifi network, is working fine.  The only thing that did occur recently was a power outage.
Please help - this is very frustrating.

LTE indicates cellular. Tap Settings > Cellular then switch Cellular Data ON.
If your Wi-Fi is working, then you should be able to access the internet.
    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
You will have to re enter your Wi-Fi password.
    * No data is lost due to a reset

  • IPod Touch 5th Generation home button is stuck, support options?

Hi, I do IT, and when talking to someone in my science class and somehow he brought up the fact that his iPod touch 5th generations home button had become stuck overnight, without cause, it is in a otter box, and has never been dropped, come in contact with water, etc... . I had the exact same problem and luckily when I contacted apple it was the last day of my year long coverage. I checked his serial number and his support has expired, so what are my options? From my research it seems like this issue is not uncommon, and I have read that Apple will replace the defunct unit regardless of the warranty if you bring it to a genius bar, is this true? If it is not, then what would be the price for Apple to repair it, as it is in perfect condition with no scratches, and I would not want to void any future warranty options by replacing the button/screen myself?

Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store and find out if Apple will be nice and exchange it for a refurbished iPOd at no cost. Apple dies not repair yur iPOd, they exchange it for a refurbished one. If Apple will not exchange it at no cost, the exchange price is $99 for 16 GB 5G and $149 for the other 5Gs

  • My 5th Generation IPod Touch keeps pausing, opening Siri, and crashing when I play music?

I won a brand new 64gb 5th gen iPod touch back in November, everything has been great with it until recently. Lately it has been glitching out whenever I try to play music. It seems to be only when the headphone are plugged in that it does it, but it happens daily and has become an inconvenience. It tends to pause, play, open Siri (ask her a question) sometimes speed up the song, and ultimately crash. Does anyone know of this and/or know how to fix it? I've tried a system restore with backing up info but nothing else. Thank you.

Hope your issue was fixed. With iOS 7 and now 7.0.4 the iPod touch fifth generation I have still crashes I have don't a soft restore, a complete restore from back up and also setup as new. Nothing worked. Saw the folks at the apple store on five different times. So they finally gave me a replacement. This has been going on since the new release. The only thing I have found is that it looses internet connectivity so I can put it in airplane mode. Close all apps. Then go back to wifi mode and some times this worked.
Your issues seem slightly different. But the irregularities began for me with issues with my music library on my iPod touch.
It's so frustrating to have such an expensive device functioning so poorly.

    No.
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    iCloud: Find My iPhone
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

Yes, if you get it fixes, the iPod will likely be erased. Apple will not repair your old iPod, they exchange it for a refurbished one and do not transfer data.

  • Connect IPod Touch with my home HiFi ... Belkin or Griffin?

I wanna connect my iPod Touch with my home HiFi via bluetooth (and audio RCA plugs). There seem to be two devices available: the Belkin TuneStage and the Griffin BlueTrip. But neither brands say in the websites that their products can work with the new iPod Touch.
    Grateful if anyone can advise.

This doesn't eacxtly answer your question, but it does show that the Touch will work with Bluetooth adapters:

I'm not sure what you're asking. You can install OS X Server on your MBP, but I can't tell from your post what features of OS X Server you're looking to use.
Generally speaking, laptops are not the best platform for servers, but they will work. Some folks bristle when there is mention of a laptop server, some say go for it, and I would say it depends on what the server is needed to do. I've been running a website using a spare copy of 10.4 Server on a G3 iMac for several years - but that's a far cry from using a G3 iMac to really use the functions of OS X Server. If you're satisfied with your backups and file sharing capabilities, a dedicated server may be overkill, and added maintenance. If you want or need more functionality that your current setup provides, then a server is worth considering.
If you're not familiar with OS X Server, there will be a learning curve and possibly some frustration, and you'll want to back up the server as well which may add more work to keeping your network where you want it to be.
So the short answer is, what will the server do?

  • My ipod touch 5th gen camera keeps on crashing. I can't use it properly because before I can click on the camera button, the screen will go dark and then will go back to home. What can I do about this?

so I've been using my ipod touch for three months already. Then I noticed that the more I use my camera, which is not very often, I only use it to snapshot wonderful events in my life, the more "crashing" becomes often in my ipod. There are several times that I will repeatedly click my camera button just to open it as it keeps on crashing. my software is up to date, iOS 6.1.3 and I thought that updating it and restarting it will do the trick. Also, the panorama feature of my camera is kind of defective, It's very dark and the images keep in getting ragged on edges. Like it's been cut with sheers or any sharp material. What can I do about this? Is there any way for me to get this fixed?

Is the camera damaged? Could be a hardware problem.
    Try:
Close the Camera app in the multitasking bar, then try again.
Restart/Reset/Restore your iPod. In that order.

  • IPod Touch cannot connect to wireless network

I have a 1 TB, dual-band time capsule with a wireless network created to share our broadband internet connection for our main computer (the iMac), a windows PC, an iPhone 3G, and a 2nd gen iPod touch to connect to the internet. Wireless security for this network is WPA/WPA2 Personal. The windows box and the iPhone 3G connect without problem, but the iPod touch does not seem to connect correctly. The device sees the network, prompts for the password, and seems to be connected (wi-fi symbol visible in top left corner of device), but when trying to view a website using the Safari app, the screen dims and an endless "Connecting..." message is visible. Furthermore, when trying to update e-mail, I get a message that the connection to the server failed.
It is worth noting that the iPod did not always have this problem. It was able to connect to the wi-fi network until a few weeks ago. This may have been due to the upgrade to Snow Leopard, or perhaps due to an incident where the windows PC lost its connection to the network. When this occurred, I had to disable all security on the network, connect the PC to the network, then re-enable security (as I had to do when first installing the Time Capsule; for whatever reason, the windows box had a hard time joining the network with security enabled). Anyway, one of these two events is the likely cause of the iPod suddenly being unable to connect; I'm sorry to say that I'm uncertain as to which one, because my wife uses the device sporadically, so we cannot pinpoint exactly when this difficulty started.
As for attempted solutions, I tried resetting the iPod back to factory settings, only to have the same connection issues. I also changed the network security settings to None, and attempted to connect the iPod to the network (even though it should have no problem connecting to a secure network), but still no go. I am short on ideas for a fix, and would gladly welcome any advice the community has to offer. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Pretty much the same thing happened to me. My new Touch connects fine to my work wireless network (WEP64) - still does. But my home wireless network is SOL. I can join the router, wireless icon is in upper left corner (although gray, not green). I can even see the Touch from my router (Verizon FIOS). All other laptops in the house including wireless TiVo work flawlessly. I have not undone my security on my router yet - looks like it won't help. I have tried using static IP and I can still see iPod from router. But I cannot browse, go to AppStore, check email (which works great from work network), and have exact same error messages as above post. It has to be a security thing somewhere, I just didn't want to mess with router if I didn't have to. If I figure it out, I will post here........
