Ipod Touch 4G Cleaning Question

While I have read the manual and know how to clean the iPod Touch, I am wondering how frequently I should be doing this. Because I am somewhat of a clean freak, my instinct is to clean the screen everyday before using the device. Is this advisable or not? I cannot seem to find information about this one way or another. Thanks!

if you follow the cleaning instructions in the manual, you can clean your device as often as you feel it necessary.

  • Ipod touch 4g replacement questions

My ipod touch 4th gen 16 GB has a nearly unresponsive home button and i would like to replace it. On the apple website it says it would be $100. I was just wondering if apple could also change the color of my black ipod to white in this process also. The last question I have is is it worth to just get the touch 5 and if so, will my current ipod have a trade in value at apple or will it give a discount towards the touch 5? Thanks!

If you take the device in for out of warranty replacement, they will replace it with an in-kind device. Exactly the same as the one you brought in. They will not change colors or capacity. If you want to do that, then you would want to sell the old device and purchase a new one.
As far as trade-in, Apple does not provide a trade-in program, but they do have a recycle program. It will provide a minor amount for your device and you could use that towards a new device if you wish.

  • New ipod touch user. Question!!

Ok, so i'm about to buy an ipod touch soon, and i have some free apps on my itunes already down. (i also have movies and music too). What i'm wondering, is when i sync my ipod touch to my itunes library, will the apps copy over? and if they do, next time i sync my ipod, will itunes reset all my apps to default?? (high scores, saved stuff, passwords, pictures etc) and if i buy apps from my touch, will they be erased ifi sync my ipod to the computer?? thank you to whoever answers this question! i'm excited to get my ipod! thx.

    - If the iPod is signed into the same itunes account that purchased the apps and other stuff they can be synced to the new iPod.
    - App data such as save games and status is included in the backup of what ever device the apps were installed,  They are not included with the apps i our iTunes library.  What you have to do is to backup the device that has the app data you want and then restore the new iPod using the backup  of that device.  You did not state what device has the apps now and thus the app data but most devices can be restored from the backup of other devices.
    - If you purchase apps on the new iPod they will be/can be transfered to your computer if the computer is authorized for the account used to purchase the apps.

  • General iPod Touch/iPhone App Question

This is a general question but I'm going to ask it in this thread since I have an iPod Touch.
I bought an iPod Touch primarily for music. Now that it has games and apps that I'm actually starting to use, I'm running into a problem.
I use my iPod Touch in transit and often want to listen to music while playing games. As far as I can tell, there is no general setting for applications to not hijack my regular music. Am I correct? Some games don't do this, but many do. It's really annoying to be listening to a great song and then the iPod touch app decides to take over my music and stop it from playing.
To rephrase, is there a way to universally mute all application games/sounds on the iPod Touch or the iPhone and prioritize the actual ... erm, music?

I left this issue alone for awhile, but I'm downloading more applications with this problem.
My question: is this against Apple's SDK rules? Shouldn't the application not interfere with music play? This is especially obvious with applications like Crash Bandicoot which not only runs an application -- it also imposes a video before the application's run.
I've contacted several developers and all of these developers have been unresponsive thus far. I emailed VGmobile.com, for example (makers of Crash Bandcoot), 4 times in the last month, and they have not yet acknowledged the problem or promise to resolve it.
At this point, perhaps my recourse is to contact Apple to get these apps pulled if this is indeed against Apple's SDK rules. I'd love to know if there's any wording in the development kit that says that these games should not affect other functions of the iPod, or whatever.
I'm sorry to resort to these methods, but nobody seems to be listening to this concern. Do you know how annoying it was for me this past week on two 5-hour plane flights to listen to the same redundant music of a game when I could have listened to the variety of music I had stored on my, erm, music player?! I can't get the lame music of Diner Dash out of my head.
I don't understand why this isn't self-explanatory. Above all else, the iPod Touch is a music player. Music should be prioritized. I'm really surprised that common sense isn't prevailing here.

  • IPod Touch 1st gen question

If i buy the IPod Touch Software Update for the 1st gen only.
Also included is the app store?
I'm sorry my english isn't good.

If you purchase the upgrade to iOS 3.1.3, you will then be able to purchase and run third-party apps, yes. Not all apps will run on a 1st-generation iPod touch, though; more and more require either newer versions of iOS, newer hardware, or both.
    Regards.

  • IPod Touch 3rd Generation QUESTION

After i use the ipod touch for 5 or even 15 min the screen still stays on. How do I adjust this to have the touch go to sleep after a certain amount of time?

You can take that option off for the display to stay lid, on the settings menu(under the term "General"). You can turn the options for the screen to stay on for one, five minutes.
    Cheers....

  • IPod Touch firmware update question

I have a first generation iPod touch. I finally purchased the 3.1.1 firmware update, and it's downloading now. When I made the purchase, a warning flashed, telling me that when I update the iPod, all of the data on it will be lost. It said that if I wished to keep my music etc., I should make sure it's connected to the computer I usually sync it with.
Now, I suspect that it's just going to update the iPod's firmware, then sync it with my current iTunes library. The thing is, only about half of the music that's on this iPod is on this computer's hard drive. I don't wish to lose the other half.
So, does anyone have any experience with this? If iTunes will back up the data on my iPod, and then restore it once it's done updating, that would be fine, but that doesn't seem like the sort of thing that would happen...
Should I just download copytoy and backup all the songs, then restore them after the update? Thanks.

Thanks for the response. I now have a slightly more serious problem, though, which I doubt can be helped, but I figure I may as well ask anyway. Here goes:
I was looking for a program to extract my music off the ipod to make a backup as you suggest. (Back before I had an iPod touch, I used yamipod, but that doesn't have touch / iPhone support.)
One that looked promising was called Sharepod, so I downloaded it, and launched it. It told me that I shouldn't run both iTunes and sharepod simultaneously, so I closed iTunes. Then it told me that it didn't detect any iPod, so I should re-open iTunes with the iPod connected, then restart Sharepod.
When I opened iTunes back up, it told me that it couldn't read the data on the iPod, and that I should do a factory reset to fix the problem. (This of course will erase the data.)
So now I'm pretty much stuck. I can't get iTunes to read my iPod, and as long as it can't, neither can sharepod. The only way I can get iTunes to see the iPod is to wipe the data, which is what I downloaded sharepod to prevent in the first place. In the meantime, the iPod works just fine, I just can't sync/update it until I wipe it, which I would like to avoid. Do you know of any way I could possibly fix this error without losing my data? I've rebooted both the iPod and the computer, and even re-installed iTunes, but no luck.
    Any help is much appreciated.

  • IPod Touch screen durability question

    Hi there,
I'm currently trying to decide between an 8GB iPod Nano and an 8GB iPod Touch and I was wondering if some of you could share information about the screen durability of your new iPod Touches.
I love the iPod line of MP3 players, and after my last iPod died from rough handling I've decided that I want my next iPod to use flash memory, which limits me to the Nano and the Touch. I'm also very interested in watching video on my iPod since I have a 45 minute commute on a train every day.
I have heard that the plastic over the screen on the Nano is similar to the plastic of the old iPods, and as such can be scratch-prone, but that the screen on the Touch is a much more scratch-resistant glass. How have the screens on your iPod Touches held up so far to regular use?
    Thanks!

Even though the touch has a scratch resistance glass, it can still get scratched, I know someone here who posted way back managed to get their screen scratched, and a deep one too. it depends what you used and how hard it was hit, I'd still get a screen protector for it, I got the invisible shield for it and the touch still works, and it still senses my finger.
If you plan on getting the touch, i'd get a 16 GB with just spending 100 buck more. But if your budget only limits you to get an 8 GB then get the 8 GB touch. One thing I like about touch, is yes, the wi-fi feature (I gotta say, it's awesome, you can view e-mails, surf the web, do anything on the web on the go), I like movies in Widescreen and you can watch movies in Widescreen view. I'd say get an iPod touch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • IPod Touch Trading in Question

I am i able to trade in my old iPod touch for a 4 gen ipodtouch and get more memory on the new one? I am willing to pay money for this to happen.

Yes. Apple will give you a 10% discount if you turn in an old iPod when you purchase a new one.  This is to promote recycling.

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Sign out of your GameCent ID and then sign back in
    - Reset all settings

  • IPod Touch 5th Screen Question...

Hi I just replaced my screen on my ipod touch 5th gen and i connect all the ribbon chords and every thing and when i connect one of the ribbons from the screen to the motherboard the motherboard starts to get hot! The screen isnt actually fully on, I wanted to make sure it turned on before I snapped it back in place. Any ideas? When I disconnect the ribbon the temp goes down. Screen is an OEM screen from Apple.

I do have experience changing screens on ipods, well I have done several ipod touch 4th gen. I read somewhere, and i have presonally have done it,  that you can short the battery on the ipod touch 4th and it fixes it but im not sure on the 5th.

  • IPod touch 5th gen question

Hello I am thinking of buying an iPod touch 5th gen off a private party. How do I check to see if it has been reported lost or stolen?

You really don't. Apple doesn't keep a public list of stolen devices.
The main thing you want to look for is that it's not locked. iOS7 came with an activation lock requiring the owner enter his/her apple ID to wipe the device. So if you open that device and it's up and running you can't wipe it and remove that apple ID without entering that apple ID.
Do you know this third party? Can they give you any sort of background? If you turn that device on and it's passcode locked and they can't give you the passcode, that's a sure sign of an issue and you should not buy it. If the iPod is not passcode locked but is up and running, go into the settings, reset, erase all content and settings and try to erase it and if the person cannot give you the apple ID to wipe the device then that's also not a good sign.
(the passcode lock is on the main screen and can be a series of letters or a simple 4 diget code. it's to protect your data on a daily basis. The activation lock is deeper adn something you only run into when you're trying to wipe the device. If your seller doesn't know either of these they're either very forgetful or may be dealing with a device that isn't theirs)
