Ipod touch 4g cracked screen w/ warranty . battery issue too

hey everyone
i just came back from my long vacation, while on vacation my little 3 year old sister dropped my ipod (long story) but yeah now my ipod touch 4g 8gb is screen is cracked. the ipod still have warranty until january. is it possible to get a replacement/repair from apple?
also on the very same ipod i have some battery issue, it takes me roughly almost 2 hours to charge my battery full and it drains like crazy! maybe 2 hours of usage and its done.
thanks!

An iPod that has been dropped such that it cracked the screen will no longer be under warranty. You can take the iPod to an Apple Store and hope - it's been reported that in some cases the technician has been allowed to replace the iPod under warranty even though Apple is not obligated to do so for user abuse - but you may well have to pay the replacement charge.
Regards.

  • Would a genius in a genius bar replace my ipod touch 4g cracked screen for free under warranty

So yesterday I dropped my Ipod touch 4g 8g and the screen cracked really bad... I know apple doesn't cover this but im still under warranty.. Would a genius in a genius bar give me a new one for free here in Calgary AB..?? please i really need help............
P.S i know already how much it cost if they dont give me a new one

Damage due to dropping is not covered under the warranty so a genius at a genius bar is not going to give you a new iPod for free.  They may offer you a replacement, same or comparable unit, at a fee, but again, not for free.

  • Ipod Touch 4g cracked screen

so today my ipod accidentally fell out of my shirt pocket and hit the floor, the screen is cracked at the edges and some at the middle do you think apple will replace the ipod or replace the screen for free as it is under warrenty?

then can i claim that i dont like it when the ipod heats up and is a burn hazard to my children? it heats up when you play games on it for like 20 min (puzzles & hardcore) you think they will replace it then?

  • HT1212 iPod touch backup, cracked screen, can't enter passcode.

I want to back up my music from my iPod onto a new computer, to put onto a new iPod. My old computer broke and I have no access to it. But when I try to back it up, it says I have to enter the passcode. The screen is severely cracked and unusable, so I can't enter the pass code. Is there any way to bypass the screen lock without using the screen? I have a huge music library that, as of right now, is lost.

Your only hope is a data recovery comapny. The Apple securty feature is working as intended.

  • 8gb iPod Touch 4g Cracked Screen

A friend of mine dropped it off the top bunk when at a cabin and the screen got really cracked. As the months went by, the top left hand corner started coming off. Its not too bad now, but as of today, the screen wont work. Its not reading my fingers at all. If I go to my local Best Buy store, can they give me a replacement and install in store?

If you bought it from Best Buy and got Geek Squad Protection on the unit, then they can send it off to service (or replace.  Whichever is deemed more cost efficient).  Stores don't typically keep replacement screens on hand.
If not, they won't just give you something for free.  If it's not fixable, it might qualify for a trade-in so that you could get some money from it.

  • The other day I dropped my iPod touch and the screen cracked and my warranty is up how do i get it fixed. Do I order an screen and have Apple repair it of do I have to

The other day I dropped my ipod touch and the screen cracked and my warranty is up how do I get it fixed. Do I buy a screen and bring it to Apple to repair od do I have to repair it. Please help me

Apple does not repair iPods, but will replace the entire iPod for a flat fee; see the Repair Pricing section here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/faq/
There are independent iPod repair services that may be able to replace the screen for less. Do a web search for "ipod repair". Some places also will sell parts and instructions for doing the repair yourself, but the connectors and parts are delicate and it's easy to cause further damage, so attempt this only if you are confident in your skills.

  • Henry dropped the Ipod touch and cracked the screen.  How can I get this fixed.

    Hi,
Henry dropped his Ipod touch and cracked the screen and put in a passcode and now has forgotten his passcode.  Need to know how I can get the screen fixed and or if it is covered on the 1 year warranty?  How can I unlock the Ipod without the passcode?
Any info would be greatly helpful!

Take to an Apple retailer. Such damage is not covered by your warranty.
A Complete Guide to Recover Your iDevice if You Forget Your Passcode
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone, iPad and iPod touch software.
Try restoring the iOS device if backing up and erasing all content and settings doesn't resolve the issue. Using iTunes to restore iOS devices is part of standard isolation troubleshooting. Restoring your device will delete all data and content, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, and calendar information, and will restore all settings to their factory condition.
Before restoring your iOS device, Apple recommends that you either sync with iTunes to transfer any purchases you have made, or back up new data (data acquired after your last sync). If you have movie rentals on the device, see iTunes Store movie rental usage rights in the United States before restoring.
Follow these steps to restore your device:
Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes before attempting to update.
Connect your device to your computer.
Select your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch when it appears in iTunes under Devices.
    Select the Summary tab.
    Select the Restore option.
When prompted to back up your settings before restoring, select the Back Up option (see in the image below). If you have just backed up the device, it is not necessary to create another.
Select the Restore option when iTunes prompts you (as long as you've backed up, you should not have to worry about restoring your iOS device).
When the restore process has completed, the device restarts and displays the Apple logo while starting up:
After a restore, the iOS device displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen. For updating to iOS 5 or later, follow the steps in the iOS Setup Assistant. For earlier versions of iOS, keep your device connected until the "Connect to iTunes" screen goes away or you see "iPhone is activated."
The final step is to restore your device from a previous backup.
If you can not restore your device then you will need to go to recovery mode.
Placing your device into recovery mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the screen pictured below, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again.
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
    Additional Information:
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

  • If you jailbreak your ipod touch and crack the screen will the warrenty still work? Also, would the warrenty fix the screen?

If you jailbreak your ipod touch and crack the screen will the warrenty still work? Also, would the warrenty fix the screen? Would it cost money? Its a 5th gen.

Once you jail break Apple won't help with the machine. I'm not even sure if they'll honor an 'out of warranty' replacement.
Accidental damage, which is what a broken screen is, starts at $149 US

  • My ipod touch recently cracked the screen is not very broken, I'm from Brazil and bought my ipod touch in Miami want to know where I can fix it there in the united states

my ipod touch recently cracked the screen is not very broken, I'm from Brazil and bought my ipod touch in Miami want to know where I can fix it there in the united states? And how much it would cost?

Apple will not take it as a trade-in for an upgrade to an iPad touch
The will take it for recycle only
Your best bet is to sell it on your own and then use those funds to get the new iPod.

Apple may or may not exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. They do not fix yours.

I have a 4th generation Ipod touch. The screen turned white all of a sudden for no reason. I've tried holding buttons letting it die and plugging it back in but the white screen is still there. It still makes noise. like the other day it was making a noise like someone was calling it. Then if I press the sleep/wake button and home button it takes a picture and I can hear the noise but still have the white screen. Does anyone know what I can do? Thanks

    try one of these ways:
    > restore you iDevice with iTunes in Recovery Mode (if you have to... back up your device before restoring)
    > let the battery go completely dead.... then plug it using USB to PC or Mac OS
    > replace the LCD with www.ifixandrepair.com
    > go to the Apple Store (official store not retail) and see what they can do. they can replace your device for refurbished price

  • HT1414 my ipod touch in white screen when i connect to the itunes can'tbe detected

my ipod touch in white screen when i connect to the itunes can'tbe detected

    If not sucessful try:
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Clearly, it's not inexpensive.  You might wish to try a few things yourself.
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely.  Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.
