IPod touch 4g defects..but won't replace free by the service provider

i've been to service center.. my ipod touch 4g is still under warranty because i got that only Last March 2012. The problem is that the volume button (particularly for the decreasing) is very sticky. see i've asked this question couple of months ago and majority says that i should take this to nearest service inquiry. Yes, the button is sticky.. although i could still press it, but it's very difficult and truly a discomfort. the next one is it has a screen defects but not cracks.. there is a shadow.. the ipod icon is left on the display no matter where i go even on apps. tried resetting it a gazillion times but it still remains there badly. i took it to the nearest apple center and talk to a personnel and try to explain things about my problem. he just examined the 3.5 mm jack and says i could no longer replace the device free because according to him, the metallic thing inside has discolorated which indicates that it got wet already.. then he is reading something that "according to apple terms and conditions blah blah,,,,defects with your device due to accidents are not covered in warranty" he said it could be replaced but  with charge already.. what should i do something about it?

If your iPod got wet, then the warranty has been voided and you will have to pay for replacement. User damage is not covered by the warranty. If you do not believe the service technician, you can try another service center and see if they make the same diagnosis. If they do, then there's nothing you can do other than pay the fee if you wish a replacement.
Regards.

  • IPod touch turns on but won't connect or charge

I have a 1st gen iPod touch that has suddenly stopped charging and won't connect to my iMac even though I can turn the iPod on and use it without any problems.
When plugged in via USB it won't mount or connect to iTunes. I tried this via my USB hub and also directly into the back of my iMac. Both the hub and USB port worked with other devices plus I used two different USB cables as well so the problem is with any of those.
The charging indicator also doesn't appear when I have it plugged it. I even tried it using a Firewire cable into a wall charger. I also tried connecting to my Mac using that Firewire cable and still no luck charging or connecting.
The connectors must shot on the iPod, it is a 1st gen after all. I just want to make sure I've tried everything to get it back in working order.
The other thing is that if the connection is shot how can I go about fully wiping the iPod before recycling it if I can't connect to my Mac?
    Thanks.

  • My ipod touch downloads songs but won't let me select one

My Ipod touch will download songs. When I go to music to select a song all entries are grayed out and will not allow me to select one. What do I need to do to change this so the songs are available to be selected?

To download and install an app the iPod needs storage available equal to about three times the file download size. Thus you need abut 4.5 GB free storage space on the iPod which you do not have.
If you sync from your iTunes library less storage available is required.

  • I just  bought an ipod touch 5th gen but i cant download apps. The icon appears but then it goes away. What do I do?

    k

Well first you need to sync your iPhone 4 with your Mac/PC so that it will transfer all your music, apps, podcasts, etc. Then sync your iPod Touch and the media you selected during the sync should be there on your iPhone. If you have difficulty in transferring media from iPhone to your computer, try softwares like TransCopy. They will help in transferring data from your iphone to your computer. Dont forget to check that all the transferred data is in the iTunes media folder so that the iTunes can locate the files. Link to Transcopy software :

  • My ipod touch accidentally fell and it kind of separate Does the warrant covers this?

My ipod touch accidentally fell and it kind of separate. The screen and white part separate in one corner from de metalic part and I can see the Ipod inside. I'm really worried please help me. I need to know if the warranty covers this. One more thing I bought my Ipod touch in USA but I live in Colombia.

Yes. You can set the payment method to "None" once you log into iTunes on your PC/Mac. I have it set up this way.

  • My iPod Touch keeps disabling my passcode.  I have typed the correct passcode but it won't accept it.

My iPOD touch keeps disabling my passcode.  I have typed the correct passcode but it won't take.  It took it numerous times earlier in the day.

Maybe at one point, you may have miss typed the code when setting up the code. You'll have to factory reset your iTouch.

My beats by dre earbuds won't work on my iPod touch 4th gen but on my iPad, I need help :/

Do other earphones work on the iPod?
    If not then
    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Check also Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing. Make sure that the sound balance is not set all the way to "R".
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack or other hardware problem.

  • Recently got a new iPod 4th gen; I had previously backed up to iCloud and subscribed to iTunes Match, and then wound up syncing the new iPod to my MacBook Pro; all iCloud tunes were downloaded to Mac but won't all sync to the iPod - any suggestions?

Recently got a new iPod Touch 4th gen; I had previously backed up to iCloud and subscribed to iTunes Match, and then wound up syncing the new iPod to my MacBook Pro; all iCloud tunes were downloaded to Mac but won't all sync to the iPod after multiple attempts, despite all songs showing properly on the Mac and multiple syncs occurring after all songs were properly reflected on the Mac.  I updated iTunes Match from the iTunes Store menu as well pre-sync.
I should mention that I had previously had the library on a Dell (which is still running) and shared it on my home network.  While all iTunes purchases now show in the Dell, the Mac is the device I use for all syncs.
There appears to be no rhyme or reason to the iCloud physical sync failure - some songs were legacy, some were purchased via the PC, some on the old iPod.
The Mac shows all the songs correctly and none show iCloud status -all have been downloaded, but the downloaded songs that were previously showing up as iCloud based aren't syncing to the iPod.
Is there any way to force all music being seen by my iPod as iCloud to download to so I can listen to them offline?  Is there a way to force the sync from iTunes?

The "system" performed as designed. All devices syncing to one iCloud account are kept in common sync. The idea is that all such devices belong to one user. Different users should have different iCloud accounts.  Once your contacts were edited, all devices were updated as well and subsequent backups (from yours and her device) reflected the changed contacts (and any other data that may have been edited like calendars). Your first task is to change your daughter over to a new account before she makes other changes.
The only way I see for getting back contacts is to restore them from a time machine backup, assuming you also have a Mac included in the account which syncs the contacts. However, I'm not sure whether time machine includes contacts from iCloud along with those that are local, "on my Mac".
Otherwise the deleted contacts are gone.

Yes, I've been using it for months. And I can charge other devices with it. (my iPhone) but something weird just happened..... I kept on pluging it in the iPod and sometimes it would start to chàrge then sometimes it won't charge. Charges every time with the iPhone though.

  • My iPod Touch 4th Generation 8gb won't turn on and is frozen on the loading symbol/wheel, I tried the method where you hold the home and lock button lots of times and it hasn't worked! What do I do?

My question won't all fit in but it says 'My iPod Touch 4th Generation 8gb won't turn on and is frozen on the loading symbol/wheel. What do I do?'
I've had this problem from about two weeks and I forgot about it, but today I wanted to play on it and remembered that it's not working, I've tried connecting it to iTunes via my laptop but I'm not to sure how to update it because I thought that might fix it, but no luck. I've tried the trick where you hold the lock and home button but nothing happened apart from it just went back to the apple logo and then to the frozen loading symbol/wheel. I need help!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I gave the ipod to someone else, but now that I've had the iphone I can not get the audio even though it is downloaded into itunes music like it said to do.  It won't work.  I've tried more than several times to get help but nothing helps. Do I need to deauthorize the ipod or perhaps erase all the downloaded ipieta stuff and start over?
    Thanks for any suggestions

Sorry. There's nothing anyone can do. The current version of the facebook app will not run on 4.2.1. The iPhone 3G won't run anything higher than 4.2.1. You're stuck.
Maybe it's time to buy yourself a new iPod Touch.

I had my computer wiped and they accidentally wiped my itunes! I have a iPod touch gen 3 but i cant now download or put more music on, without the whole thing being wiped, and I have spent a lot of money on songs and apps! Does anyone have an ideas about what I could do, to prevent all my things deleting, because I won't be spending more money on apps that I have already purchased once!!
    Thank you,

    1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
    2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
    3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.
above works for purchases from the iTunes store. for everything else, check out this post by Zevoneer.

  • IPod touch 4g weak battery should i replace it or buy another iPod. ?

My iPod touch 4g battery is getting weak.  And the ipod is over two years old.   Everything else works fine.   the screen still looks good there's just one scratch.  I can get the battery replaced (oem part). for $75 at a local shop.    However, I'm worried something else might break due to age?   Ram?     I could probably sell this on eBay for $90-100 and buy the apple refurb for $180 plus tax.  So it's either pay $75 for a battery or ....sell eBay and buy refurb for a net cost of about $100.   The tricky part here is guessing what someone would pay for an iPod in great shape but weak battery.   Most of the auctions I see selling for $100-$130. Are cracked or badly scratched screens with people saying the iPods work fine or good.   I never see any auctions stating the battery is weak.   What would you do?   Thanks

You can buy a battery kit for under $10.00 and replace it yourself. It's not that hard. There are all kinds of videos on YouTube to walk you through it.
