IPod Touch 4G DFU Mode Issues!!!

Howdy
I have recently been having issues with my iPod Touch 4G whilst trying to restore it in DFU Mode after dropping it.
The issue first started when I had dropped it which left me crapping my pants worrying if it would turn on or not... sadly it did not turn back on which i have reason to believe that it had went into DFU mode. I then plugged it into my PC and iTunes recognised it but came up with a message saying this device is in recovery mode and needs restoring. I then went through all the procedure of restoring the device but as it got to about 80% done iTunes came up with error 1601.
I repeated the process a couple of times just make sure it wasn't a one off but it wasn't as it came up with the error code again and again and again after every go at restoring it. However I did notice that during one of the restores that the screens background light came on and then started going through the process of installing the iOS but then it came up with error 23 before it could do anything and then rebooted with a white screen and then back into DFU mode.
I've search google but couldnt find anything related to the issue i was having except for one that mentioned replacing the battery as it could be a hardware malfunction. The screen works obviously but I can't get it out of DFU mode and into the recovery mode with the iTunes logo to plug it into a PC.
If anyone has a resolution for this issue then it would be much appreciated.
Kind regards
Joshua

Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode, put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

  • I put my ipod touch in DFU mode, but when I plug it into my computer the restore your ipod alert does not come up in itunes. What can/should I do?

I have been on the Apple Support page for several hours now and cannot find my exact circumstance and other suggestions have yet to help me. I purchased a locked ipod touch and when I plug it into my laptop itunes says "Itunes could not connect to ipod because it is locked with a passcode". The guy I bought it from told me the password but I failed to write it down and remember it and he has since moved so I can't find him. I have tried putting it in DFU mode and I can get it there, but then Itunes does not show the pop-up that everyone has said will come up with the alert about an ipod trying to restore itself so I cannot get it to do so. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    AM

When in DFU mode and connected to the computer iTunes does not say anything but iTunes will see the iPod and you can restore the iPod via iTunes. When in recovery mode and you connect, iTunes will say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

  • I try to put mi Ipod touch in dfu mode but it doesn't work

My Ipod touch doesnt respond, and i tried o put it in dfu mode to restore it like the technical support said to do it, and nothing happened..

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IOS 5 update forced ipod touch into recovery mode which I can't get it out of! Help please!

Hi, I recently updated my ipod touch 3rd gen to ios5 (as prompted by itunes - assumed a standard software update). Immediately afterwards, my ipod went into recovery mode, and initially itunes recognised this and tried to restore it unsuccessfully. Not any more! Now it is either off, or displays the 'connect to itunes' logo when I connect it to the computer via USB lead.
I've tried uninstalling and re-installing itunes but this hasn't helped it recognise the ipod.
I don't think I've managed to go 3 months without having to do something like reinstall the drivers etc on this ipod, don't know why i expected this update to be any different!
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks in advance!

Try disabling all security software and firewalls, then try again.
Or try from a different computer.
This error is a pain in the butt and a new issue, too. I'm sorry.

  • How to restore ipod touch in recovery mode with passcode in itunes

    StylStyle
My ipod touch went to recovery mode after I tried to reset its network settings. I tried to connect it to itunes but it does not want to connect because I have a passcode and my ipod touch wont let me enter it so I could unlock it. Can somebody help me please? Thanks so much!

Placing the iPod in DFU mod and then restoring usually resove the passcode problem.

However, you may have othr problems since it went into recovery mode unexpectidly. Try restoring to factory defaults/new iPod if necessary.

  • IPod Touch 4th Gen Battery Issue

My iPod Touch 4th gen drains the battery while sitting idle overnight. I listen to it all day at work with normal battery usage. When I got home I charged my touch to 100% then left it disconnected in standby mode overnight and in the morning the it is down to 50%. I checked and there are no apps running in the background. What on earth is happening? I also have a 3rd Gen Touch, with all the same apps and it does not do this.
I have 2 4th gen Touch and they are both behaving the same way.
    Any ideas?

I am having the exact same problem. I even wiped out my ipod touch, took out all the apps, and turned off all notifications, wifi, bluetooth ect... Then I fully charged it to 100% and left it in stand-by all night. The next morning it was so dead, I had to plug it up and wait about 5-10 minutes until it would even turn on. I sent it back to apple, and they sent it back to me, saying they tried to recreat the issue but it never happened to them. I am at my wits end with it now. And when I sent it to apple, I asked them if I should take off the screen protector, because the man on the phone told me they would probable send me a new one. Well, they sent me the old one, so they made me take off a $23 screen protector, just for them to send me back the old one. I could just scream. Oh and did I mention I sent it scratch free, and got it back with a lovely arrangement of scratches on the back. Thanks apple. You will be hearing from me soon. Let me know if ayone else gets this issue resolved.

  • 2nd generation iPod touch...battery issues

My iPod when it does completely takes days on the charger to come back to life. This time it's been dead for more than a year so I've began to start charging it but it yet again is flickering from the apple logo to the low battery sign. The hard restore doesn't work and iTunes doesn't recognize it. What do I do? Is my battery completely gone, therefore my iPod is broke forever or will it eventually come back to life? HELP PLEASE :)

  • IPod Touch Fifth Generation Screen Issue.

I've had my iPod for about a year and never had any problems. Tonight I went to watch some videos as I normally do. While watching one of the videos the screen became unresponsive. It still played but it wouldn't rotate or recognize swipes. Hitting the home button took me to the menu but I still couldn't swipe through my app's. Turning it off resets the screen but for maybe a couple minutes. I was able to get to Vine and then little and big black bars faded in on the top and the screen went blue. When it turned back on it worked for 5 minutes then the colors got all distorted, it zoomed in on the menu, and more little bars faded in and out. Now the screen won't turn on. The top half of the iPod is starring to get hot, almost to hot to touch. The iPod has never overheated, froze from the cold, never been wet, dropped, or anything. It's spent it's life laying on my bed connected to the charger or around the house. Anything I can do myself or have someone else do?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

  • IPod touch disabled plus an issue with iTunes

I have a several issues so if someone can walk me through the process of each one I would be most greatful.
My daughter has an iPod touch which for some reason has decided it will only work when not plugged in every now and then!  If anyone knows why this is, I am all ears!
Next issue, my laptop died and so I have a new one and I have installed iTunes on the new one but I need to somehow magically transfer everything from a dead machine to the new one without losing it all (iPhone and 3 iPods!).  I have posted about this on the communities under a seperate question.
Finally, the same iPod device has for some reason been disabled for 22 million minutes.
    So:
    *  How do I get iTunes to transfer everything off the devices without losing it all?
    *  How do I get the iPod to work with the new iTunes (even if it means losing everything off this one) since it wants a passcode?
    *  How do I reset the iPod since it now won't turn back on at all at the moment?
    *  How do I sort the disabled iPod issue?
    Thank you
    Hilary

Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs:

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
