Ipod touch 4g dock adapter

I have recently purchased an ipod touch 4g. I currently use a universal dock and would like to use it properly with my new ipod touch. I have looked at the "Official" ipod touch 4g adapter and it doesnt seem to fit very well. I am wondering if there is a dock that will better support the ipod touch 4g? Perhaps the adapter from the 2g touch? If anyone has any insight it would be much appreciated

The Apple Universal Dock works for many generations of iPod Touch's.
If you purchased one of these newer models it should have come with the correct dock adpater.

The only thing you need to change is the adapter for the correct iPod Touch.
#16 dock adapter is for the 2nd and 3rd generation model.
#20 dock adapter is for the 4th generation model.
If you don't have the #20 dock adapter, they are available from Apple here:

  • IPod Touch 3G dock - adapt an older model?

I've just bought an new 3G 32GB Touch. I thought I was going to be OK using the Dock for my old iPod Photo 40GB. I was wrong - they've changed the design, so the insert won't fit.
    That's a bit of a nuisance, as I've got 3 of the old-style docks.
    A couple of questions:
Has anyone successfully modified the old dock to fit a Touch? It looks like it'll just be a case of making an insert to hold everything in place.
If I make it fit, will everything work, including the remote?

I've just checked all 3 of my docks. 2 are the older type, the third is the later type, with remote eye and removable insert. The remote one works fine, so I'll use that with my audio system.
I need to convert one of the older ones, just to use as a sync/charge dock with my Mac.

  • Clock radio won't recognize ipod touch when docked

I bought my daughter a Sony Clock Radio that you can attach an Ipod touch too, but for some reason it won't play the music through the radio.  At first I thought it was the radio, but then docked my sons' Ipod touch, and it works.  Trying to figure out what setting needs to be adjusted.  Any suggestions?

What model and iOS is on the iPod that works?
Does Sony say it will work with a 4G with iOS 6.1.5?
    Sometimes this works:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
However, the working IOd is not a 4G with ios 6.1.5, sometimes an iOS update breaks compatibility

  • IPod touch in car adapter resets every time I start my car when plugged in

I have had an iPod touch since April 2008. I have an iPod adapter in my Audi A4 and I plug my iPod into this adapter and it plays through the speakers. When I had software version 2.0 the iPod worked great - I would be listening to a podcast or a song and when I turned the car off and back on it would pick up right where it left off.
However, since I installed version 3.0 onto my iPod it is resetting the iPod everytime I turn the car on. If the iPod touch is in the adapter when the car is started the iPod will reset and play the first song in my song list instead of what was playing when the car stopped or whatever was playing when I plugged it into the adapter and the car was off. Now I have to unplug the iPod just prior to starting my car to avoid resetting the iPod to play at the first song in the song list. (It doesn't reset the whole iPod, it just doesn't know what was being played and it goes to the first song in the alphabetical list of songs).

This is part of a list of known issues with Iphone OS 3.0. There are several posts both here in these forums and in the ilounge forums commenting about lost functionality with factory car adapters after the upgrade.
you will need to wait until 3.1 comes out to see if these issues get fixed.

  • How to Stop iPhoto launch when iPod Touch is docked?

Each and every time I dock the iPod Touch (2nd Gen), iPhoto opens and asks if I want to import new photos. Every time!
But I already imported them and I want to keep them (screenshots made with iPod Touch image capture). So why does it keep asking?
How can I stop the automatic launch of iPhoto to ask this same question?
There are no settings in iTunes for the connected iPod Touch. There are no settings in iPhoto.
And I have reviewed past messages suggesting there is a setting in the Mac OSX app called "Image Capture" - "Down load to: Picture, Movies and Music folder" Automatic Task: set to None - but that does not work either.
What else can I do? It is VERY annoying!
    Thanks & Aloha, AW

For some reason it does not work that way. You could always try turning off the ability to open iPhoto when a camera-like device is attached, using Grab.
Mind you, if they are imported into iPhoto and you sync images with the iPod touch, then you might as well delete from that folder otherwise they are duplicated on the touch.

  • IPod Touch 4G Dock Connector

Is is possible to use the new Touch 4G dock connector with Bose Sounddock Speaker systems? I can't get it to connect to my Bose Sounddock 10 or Portable. The dock connector seems way too tight, I'm not used to having to force any iPod to get it connected. Currently, I can only connect the Touch to things using the USB cable. Is there a trick that I'm missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'd hate to have to return this but if I can't use it with my speakers then back to Apple the two of them I bought go.

Hi, please help me, you seem to be the only solution for my problem in the whole internet... I am having the same issue with my brand new iPod Touch 4th gen. And as you said, I noticed that annoying ¿plastic? in the iPod's connector dock. So, how did you manage to move that piece apart of its place? I'm trying with some sort of needles, but I did not succeed. Once I move it, should I place the iPod in the dock and leave it there all night? It comes to my mind, that if i do this, its probable that then, maybe, the dock will fit with no problems. Please help me, I'm kind of desperate.
PS: Sorry if my english is a little bit rusty, im from Argentina.

  • Ipod touch 4g dock and lcd repair/replacement costs

I have recently broke my ipod's lcd screen in a unneccesary attempt to repair the dock connector. I am concerned that it may have voided my warranty, and I haven't taken it apart fully. I have found out the answer to why my ipod stopped syncing about 2 months ago and has recently been unable to charge because I attempted to get the metal prongs back in place, which may have also voided my warranty. I bought my ipod touch in April 2012 and it broke in December to the point where it is unusable. My budget is pretty flat and i'm wondering how much the repair cost would be and if I should consider buying a new ipod touch or getting the one I have now repaired. I cannot find any place where I can get it repaired at a discount price, and I'm also wondering if I can get my ipod repaired at no charge since it is still less than a year old.

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $99 for 8, 16 or 32 GB one or $199 for 64 GB one. They do not fix yours.
A third-party place like the following maybe less. Google for more.

  • Ipod Touch 4g dock connector pins bent

Hello, my daughter's Ipod Touch 4g will no longer charge and taking a close look at it, a few of the pins in the dock connector are bent. Does Apple repair these? Because I am having a hard time finding a repair place in town

Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store and ask.  The Genius may be able to bend then back.  The Genius may also replace your iPod at no cost or charg you the following for a replacement.

Typically, the store ill only change out your battery.  Ohter repair are exchanges.
You can also contact this place. I do not see dock connector replacement but you can ask them.

  • IPod Touch with HDMI adapter

I have an ipod touch 5th gen running ios 6.5. When I connect it to an hdmi monitor with the adapter, I can view and hear itunes and podcast content, but youtube, espn, other web content plays sound only. Is there a fix for this? Thank you.

Really appreciate your feedback. Only items I've found which work are podcast and iTunes. No YouTube or Golf Channel for example. Doesn't display the home screen or photos off the iPod either. I may try the VGA adapter.
    Again, appreciate the feedback.

  • IPod touch + Bose Dock hum/pulse

Okay, turning off WiFi does not eliminate the miserable pulsing/humming sound that comes from the iPod Touch while in the Bose dock.
Has ANYBODY found a way that makes the sound go away?! I'm a big fan of the quality of the music I listen to (320kpbs mostly) and this hum will be the death of me I swear.

I had this problem and described my soltution here: http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=5557094#5557094

  • Ipod Touch Standard Dock Setup

Well, I got a dock to USB cable and a dock base with my Ipod Touch. How do you set the dock up so that it can actually stand by itself...

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
There's not a great deal to set up. Connect the USB2.0 to 30pin dock connector cable to the back of the +Universal Dock+ and then insert the Dock Adaptor that came with the +iPod touch+ into the top of the +Universal Dock+

  • Ipod Touch Accessories - Docks etc

I am thinking of getting an Ipod Touch 32gb. I currently own a 5th Gen Ipod.
At home I have 3 docs one connected to my ONKYO stereo, a Logic 3 which I take with me when I travel and an Ibass in my bedroom.
When I tried to connect a friends Iphone to the Logic3 it came up with an error saying that the accessory was not compatible.
Is this just a trait of the Iphone or will all my docks be obsolete if I now buy a touch
    Thanks for your help

I recently purchased a current Apple Universal Dock and found that the remote didn't work as advertised with my touch when I tried to view photos. You can only use the play button on the remote. You cannot pause, go back, or forward. You cannot advance or select photos you want to display using the remote. This is a problem if you transfer presentations or go back and forth when looking at a photo album on to your touch. I went to a store and witnessed that this glitch is the case with all new ipods when viewing photos. The salesperson there was not aware of the problem and said that Apple with figure it out and probably issue a software update.
