IPod Touch 4G frozen on restore
Hi folks
I have an iPod Touch 4G. It is a replacement as my old one failed to work anymore (freezing on restore and had pixel issues anyway).
My new one has the most up to date IOS 4.3.5. Today I added my apps back onto it with no issues. When I added my music, the iPod would come back with "No Content", after syncing. There was an error message that would come up in relation to syncing, upon physically connecting the iPod with iTunes open.
Once I resolved that (deleted old backups and manually had to copy some files to a directory), the music was coming up and syncing was no issue. When I played the music, it was jumping a few seconds into a song then going back to the start, skipping, making glitchy sounds. I removed all music and manually added it back. No joy. I removed the music, converted some to AAC and still no joy. Tried numerous fixes from forums etc, but music still doing same. I was reluctant to do a restore, but figured I had no choice.
So I do the restore. Upon restore it freezes. It says "Restoring iPod software" and gets about 1/8 of the way. Like my old one!!! I manually deleted the restore file, so iTunes would download and extract a new IOS. I started again, and still no joy. Freezes again 1/8 of the way. iTunes is up to date also. I am lost and dread going back to the Apple Store, as I will look like an idiot. No doubt they will connect it to a mac like last time and it will restore, and hopefully that will allow me to add music without issues. But that still leaves me with an issue on my laptop (Windows 7) and future dreaded updates.
Very frustrated and need help resolving it the restore issue on my PC.
First, try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
Finally, if the Restore doesn't work, let the battery drain completely. Then recharge for at least an hour and Restore again.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

My iPod Touch is frozen on the iTunes music note logo and the USB plug picture. Tried resetting - didn't work. Tried restoring - didn't work. Any ideas besides throwing it out my window?
Does the iPod/iTunes go through all the steps of restoring the iPod? If yes then:

my ipod touch is frozen... the screen has a picture of the itunes logo and a usb charger. I have held the sleep button and the power button to reset and i have let the battery die and started to recharge...niether worked. any ideas???
Try charing it to 50% at least.
If all else fails, try putting it in DFU mode. Connect it to iTunes, (iTunes may not detect the device, but that's ok) hold the power and home buttons down for 10 seconds, then release the power button but keep holding the home button until it goes into DFU mode. iTunes should detect it and ask for a restore.

My Ipod touch is frozen. The screen shows only USB cable with arrow point to the word Itunes. What is the problem? This is the second touch I have had that has this same problem. HELP!
This time try restoring the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod instead of from backup. You may have some corruption that is causing the problem and it may now be in the backup. If the problem persists after restoring to factory defaults/new iPod. then you likely have a hardware problem and ana ppointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

My 4th generation ipod touch is frozen in the start up mode. I've tried to do a hare reset on it and the apple comes up then it goes to the next screen with the loading circle and freezes up.
Try connecting the device to your iTunes library in recovery mode and restoring it using the instructions in this Apple support document.
