IPod Touch 4g on iOS 5 not emptying space
Recently, my iPod is not emptying any space at all. I tried deleting apps and music but still, there is no space that has been freed. Any ideas on fixing this? Because I don't want to lose my data on the iPod. Thanks!
active icloud fills "other" to alarming levels.. for my 8GB ipod4 it was naer 2GB which simply is not tolerable.
Also the connected Lion showed this "other" .- in my case it was 30GB.
Turned off icloud completely and space on ipod and Lion came back ( few reboots needed ).

After updating my iPod Touch 4G to iOS 6 from the device itself and then updating iTunes on my PC to 10.7, whenever I connect the iPod Touch, it gives an error saying "This iPod cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the iTunes installer to remove iTunes, then install the 64-bit version of iTunes."
My computer is running on a 64-bit OS, and the version of iTunes I installed is 64-bit. I have already tried the methods given by Apple to fix this (uninstalling iTunes and all other Apple software and reinstall iTunes, running Apple Mobile Support program, etc...). How can I get my iPod Touch to be recognized properly?
*Note: I am still able to update my old iPod Video 5G without a problem*I agree it it the driver since the diagnostics say:

Yes. get a computer with iTune 10.5 and:
- Transfer iTunes purchases to the computer:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
- Transfer other stuff using a third-party program like one of those discussed here. Most are good for music. It is harder to find one for other stuff like synced photos.

- Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right-clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and selecting Back Up
- Restore the iPod from backup and sync as neccessary. -
Since my IPOD Touch upgraded to IOS 8.1.2 it will not play well with my 2013 Charger's UConnect entertainment system. It will not build a library so I can not Browse or Shuffle. The only thing it does is list all the songs alphabetically when connected via USB.

My iPod touch 5th Gen iOS 8.1 won't turn on, charge and CONNECT TO iTUNES.
Maybe this is because of the new release ios 8.1 where after the update it went
recovery mode then i didn't restore, i set up a new ipod.

I Backed up my iPod Touch 5th Generation iOS7 onti my MacBook using iTunes
Later, I lost the iPod.
I want to retrieve as much of the data, especially photos, as possible ftom the backup.
I do not have another iPod to use the restore function.
Is there any other way to retrieve the photos or any other data from the backup?You could restore an iPad or iPhone from the backup.

ITunes 10.5 won't update files properly on my iPod Touch 4G running iOS 5, how can I fix this?
I recently updated iTunes to 10.5 and my iPod Touch 4G to iOS 5, but now when I try to edit the ID3 tags or artwork of songs on my
iPod using iTunes, iTunes just says "Preparing to update files" but it never actually updates them. When I try to add songs
manually to iPod (my iPod is not set up to sync music with iTunes [see note below]), the same thing happens, with the newly added
songs appearing on the iPod library but are grayed out with a still loading icon next to them. Also, in some instances when I try
to change the artwork of all the songs on an album, it grays out the songs I tried to change, puts an exclamation mark by them,
and applies those changes to other songs on my iPod! And if I delete the songs I attempted to change it deletes the songs that
were received the artwork change. The songs that were unintentionally changed somehow got overwritten by the songs I was trying to
change while retaining the original tags of the songs that were changed. Not sure if I'm explaining this clearly so let me give an
example: song A is a song on an album on my iPod, song B is on song on a completely different album on the iPod. When I change the
artwork on song A, it somehow messes up my library and song A overwrites song B, but it keeps all of song B's ID3 tags. So I don't
know song B is song A until I play song B, at which point the ID3 tags are changed to the tags of the song A, and song B is just
disappears. This only started happening after updating to iTunes 10.5 and iOS 5. Not sure if the problem is caused by iTunes 10.5
or iOS 5, but I did search online and found someone with the exact same problem effecting their iTunes 9.1 (no iPod involved).
Can someone please tell me why this is happening and how I can fix it?

I add songs manually to iPod because I don't keep my music on my PC and sync my music with iTunes because it would take up too
much space and I want to be able to add songs on my iPod from other computers. Once you set it up to sync music I believe it
disables making any changes to your iPod with iTunes on other computers.okay, I don't know about the rest, but about the songs never actually loading onto your iPod, I found in another discussion how to fix that. I'm using Windows 7, so I don't know if the steps are the same, but the end result is the same. So go into your Start menu, then into accessories, right click 'Command Prompt' and click 'Run as administrator'. Then type in the following: netsh winsock reset then press Enter. After a few seconds it should tell you to to restart your computer for changes to take effect. Restart your computer, then restart iTunes, then everything should be working fine. It still takes forever sometimes to update the iPod, but eventually it will work. I've had to do this multiple times, so I'd suggest copying & pasting this solution into a notepad or Word document and saving it on your computer, so you don't have to go through the discussions again to find it. This tends to happen to me nearly every day unfortunately Hope this fixes that problem, but I'm not having any of the other problems fortunately, except for removing the artwork of the songs it updates without me asking it too. PS I think my problem may be with iOS 5, because iTunes 10.5 came out before iOS 5, and I think everything was fine before I updated my iPod, but I really don't know where the problem lies

An iPod Touch at iOS 3.1.3 and that iTunes states is up to date must be a 1st generation Touch, not 2nd.

The do not cme preinstaled but can be purchased at no cost if you meet these requirements

Froozen IPod touch - due to iOS 4.3.3 UPDATE
Just updated my IPod Touch 2gen - with iOS 4.3.3 update - due to i tunes requested, the IPod turn off to reboot & will not start back up.
Try every thing - putting it in DFU mode ...etc. what's really got my goat is that when I took in in the shop they said its now totally broke & I need to buy a new one !!!!! it was ok until I updated with Apples update software.
I feel ripped off !!

You need to restore from backup. The backup contains app data like game progress. Make sure that autosyncing is turned off otherwise whe yu connect iTunes will make a back that does not contain the data. To to that go to iTunes>Preferneces>Devices and check the box that says Prevent iPods....syncing.
Yu can alsolook at the date/time of the backup on that screen and see if it might contain the data. -
How do you update and back up your ipod touch 4 to ios 5?
So I really want to update my ipod touch 4 to ios 5, as it has many new features. The problem is, i am afraid to because i am worried that all my apps, music, and pictures will get deleted. I know many people say to back it up, but when you back it up, do you press update and then does all your data get saved? If not what do you have to do. Apple has stopped signing iOS 5 firmware. The latest version available for your iPod is 6.1.3. You must first backup your iPod then press Check for Update. Backing up will save all of your data on the iPod Touch and your sync options. And no, you can backup on your PC, press Sync and allow iTunes to transfer purchases and copy them to your iTunes library. If your iTunes library does not contain the music on your iPod, I recommend trying to drag it to your library from your iPod. And make sure you are running the latest version of iTunes. When the update finishes, restore your iPod from the backup you made. And to save pictures from your Camera Roll, go into My Computer and open the iPod and copy the pictures to your computer.
