IPod Touch 4G White doesn't work on Sync Cable

When I try to sync or charge my iPod via sync cable, it doesn't work. My computer does not recognize my iPod. However, it works well when I use my universal iPod dock (using same sync cable). My concern is, the universal iPod dock is not that handy. I cannot carry it all the time just to charge my iPod. Is there a setting that made my itouch unable to recognize sync cables? I want to be able to sync and charge without using my universal iPod dock.
Thank you.

  • HT1923 The sync function on my iPod Touch 3rd generation doesn't work properly.  My OS is up to date, but some of my podcasts won't transfer onto the iPod, and it won't delete ones I've already listened to.

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in

    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.

  • IPod Touch 1st Generation doesn't work directly out of the box?

I just bought a first generation iPod touch and first things first I plug it into my PC. Nothing happens on the iPod and on iTunes I immediately get a message saying "iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode. You must restore it before it is usable with iTunes." So I hit OK and click yes to the message about restoring it to its factory settings, considering that's how it should be anyway since I had literally just taken it out of the box. I finally get a reaction from the iPod, and it's a solid white screen followed by the apple logo, and then for about 5 minutes iTunes says it's "prepaying the iPod for restore..." followed by the error message "The iPod "iPod" could not be restored, an unknown error occured. (1604)" Then the iPod disconnects from iTunes and proceeds to be frozen at the Apple logo screen. I have looked at all the troubleshooting walkthroughs and none of them work because I have never seen a screen on the iPod other than the Apple logo, it seems as though the only way to fix this is if I just take it back and get a replacement

Hello and Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Is the device brand new? - the Second Generation have been around for some time now so I hope you got a good price on it.

  • IPod Touch 4g Camera doesn't work

    Hey Guys,
My iPod touch camera app opens but stays on the shutter and doesn't move. I can click on the bottom left corner and view my pics but other than that, nothing seems to function. I also noticed that the slider that switches from picture mode to video mode flashes a bit. If i leave the app alone for around 1 minute, it just crashes and takes me back to the home screen. I have tried the 4 Rs but nothing is working. Does anyone know the reason and/or have the fix for this problem?
    Thanks

I am having the same problem . Worked at first ... now can only review video/photos with no camera function. I have updated - ios software.. please help!

  • IPod Touch: Internal Speaker doesn't work

    Hi,
My iPod Touch was replaced ~6 months ago bec. the internal speaker was bad. This new one, though, the internal speaker doesn't work at all (except for the Clock/Alarm tones). The vol. button says "Headphones" on screen when you change the volume, whether or not the Headphones are plugged in. I've tried turning off and other things I've seen but no clear answer. Is there a fix for this?

    Have you tried restoring it?
Can be a Hardware problem, go to the nearest Apple Store and see if they can fix it

  • Since latest update, Sound Check on Ipod touch and Iphone doesn't work.

My playlists have always played at an even volume before Sunday's software updates to Itunes, Ipod touch, and Iphone.  Now my playlist volumes are all over the map.  I teach a fitness class in a large room to 70 people, and this is ruining it!!  Apple support on the phone told me it should work.  Yes, it did work until the update, and I didn't change anything until I noticed it wasn't working anymore.
Now I have uninstalled/reinstalled Itunes, restored my Ipod Touch as a new Ipod, and even deleted and reloaded my music.  Still not working!!!

Just a stab in the dark, but check:
Settings -> WiFi -> (your WiFi network) -> HTTP Proxy
Set the Proxy to Auto and see if that helps.

  • My FaceTime on my iPod Touch 5th gen doesn't work.

It rings and when I go to answer it, it just says 'connecting' but doesn't actually let me on to the call itself. Why might this be?
I have tried calling my boyfriend several times and he has tried calling me (we both have 5th generation iPod touches) but when we answer them, it just says 'connecting' but doesn't let us on to the actual call.

Judging by all the posts on the forum, there seems to be an issue at Apple's end, although they have made no announcement on their status page. Some users have reported that Apple is aware of the issue. You can leave feedback for Apple at the link below.

  • IPod Touch Home Button Doesn't Work

Hi all! My (Fourth Generation) iPod Touch's home button isn't working as well as it once upon a time did when it was new 2 years ago. I keep having to press it 3-6 time for it to bring me back to the home page. If I hold it down for a few seconds and then press the home button, it most of the time works. There are many questions similar to this but I wanted to start my own. More opportunities to get points right!
    So, Any Ideas?

    - You can turn on Assistive Touch: Settings > General > Accesibility
    - You can repair for:

    iPod 4G - 32 GB - 149$

  • Baby sucked on iPod Touch - Home button doesn't work

My 1 year old grabbed my 3 week old iPod Touch 2G off of my desk and put it in her mouth. Needless to say everything went berserk on the iPod. Screen was flickering, touch didn't work etc. I turned it off and let it dry for a day. Now everything is working except the Home button. My question is, can I get this thing repaired or is Apple going to pull the liquid damage stuff on me. The indicator is pink now from her drool. 3 week old iPod!! This is my third iPod from Apple and will NEVER buy another if I can't get this fixed without hassle and extreme expense. I am upset... any answers would be appreciated. Thanks.

It IS liquid damage. It can't hurt to have it looked at, but it will probably cost you to have it fixed.

  • Ipod Touch, Notes App doesn't Work?

The Notes App on my 1st generation Ipod touch doesnt work. When I open it up, it shows all my notes but I when I try to create a new note and click "done" it goes right back to the main screen. When I try to view my previous notes, their all mixed up. When I try to delete a note, it goes right back to the main screen.

The solution can be quite "devastating", if you have a lot of data on your iPod touch. So... do the restoration from iTunes. After the installation, iPod will connect to iTunes, and there is a screen asking if you want to make this iPod a "new" one, or restore your previous setting on there. Choose the "new" option, which is the first choice. Obviously, you will lost all the data if you have a lot. It is an absolute clean slate. and notes will work again.
Just a note for people who's updating to iSO 3.0: delete all the notes you have before updating. I think the file registration for the notes are all massed up after update.
