IPod touch 4g won't connect to home network

I got my iPod two weeks ago and from day 1 I've had trouble with connecting it to my home network. Whenever I tried to press on my home network 2WIRE049, and enter the WEP code it would just do nothing. It never connects. Even though I have entered my WEP code and it seems like it's connecting and loading, it never does. So, because of that I made my home network available for everyone and my iPod worked and connected just fine when I didn't have a lock on my home network. But I really don't want other people to use my wifi so I relocked my home network and I'm trying to connect my iPod to 2WIRE049 with a lock on it now.

  • IPod Touch 3g won't connect to unsecured network.  Blank page pops up

At the public library where I work we have two networks. One is the archives which is a secure network which is passworded. I can get into that one with the password.
The public wifi connection is an unsecured network that has a page that comes up with our rules and a button to click on saying you agree. Then you can go where you want.
Two of us who have new iPod Touch cannot get into this connection. The iPod sees the library network and then the page comes up but is blank. It is called "Log in Page."
Another colleague who has an older iPod Touch can access both of the networks. The "Log In Page" comes up for her and she clicks on the agree button no problem.
Our tech person was baffled by this.
    Any ideas???

The blank page you are referring to is the Terms & Conditions page for that particular provider. Scroll around a bit and see if you can find an "I Accept" button somewhere on the page. BTW, this is been the norm since 3.x firmware came out.
Depending on the provider, some of these pages are badly formatted and may never show up properly. The only other thing to try is go to Safari and see if you can get the page to pop up.

  • Tried to update to newest version. I got error because i didn't have this recovery program disc that was supposed to come with the purchase but it didn't and now my ipod touch 8gb won't connect with itunes and is stuck on a connection with itunes screen

I tried to update to newest version via pc. I got error because i didn't have this recovery program disc that was supposed to come with the purchase so it says, but it didn't and now my ipod touch 8gb won't connect with itunes anymore and is stuck on a screen displaying an itunes icon with a usb icon.

oke i'm not done with the whole thing, but i'm doing that right now. Most of the advice I've already read didn't work and at a certain point it said something about shutting down programs then restart. but i notice that there are some pretty important system things in that list and i don't want to mess up my pc :s i'm not a pc genius... and because i'm dutch and my pc-language is in dutch I often have trouble translating and well... i don't always understand the technical stuff in all the articles -_-

  • Ipod touch 5g will not connect to home wifi

Hello there! I have this problem where my ipod touch wil not let me connect to my home wifi. When I try to join, a message will pop up saying "incorrect password". I know for sure that the password is 100% right. My ipod touch had no problems connecting to the internet a few months ago, but lately many of the apps that required internet would not load even with 3 bars of signal. Therefore, this is when I decided to rest the network settings. Biggest mistake. Now it won't even let me connect to the internet. I have tried everything. Holding the home button and power button together until apple logo pops up. Updating the software to ios 6.1.3, physically turning my ipod on and off, even the modem and reseting the network settings on ipod.
Will restoring my ipod back to factory settings work?
Thank you! It will be appreciated.

  • New iPod Touch 4th gen. cannot connect to home wi-fi network

When I launch wi-fi on my new iPod Touch 4th gen. my home network's name is displayed, but after entering my password the iPod is unable to connect - the wheel to the left of the network name just keeps spinning.   The network still functions properly for all my other devices (MacBook, 2nd gen. iPod Touch, wireless printer and my wife's PC) and the new iPod Touch did connect to the network in the Apple Store when I visited yesterday.   I know the password I enetered for my home network is correct because I've checked it in my keychain, and also the iPod did not inform me that it was the wrong password for that network - as it does if I enter another password.
I have followed the advice given to others - unplugging the Time Capsule and leaving it for 5 minutes, checking that all my software and firmware is up to date, 'forgetting' the network on my new iPod then searching for it again, and have completely restored the iPod - but it still cannot connect to my network.   If my network is functioning properly, and my new iPod was capable of joining the Apple Store's network yesterday, and I am sure that I am entering the correct password, it seems to me that my problem must be due to some network setting that is refusing to allow a new device to connect.   I can't find where that setting might be - can anyone advise?

depending on what router but hopefully all routers came to this default address....
    192.168.1.1/Wireless_MAC.asp
    from
    >Setup of the Basic Setup you goto
    >Wireless
    >WirelessMacFilter
also had an idea when i wanna make sure im typing the right one, i would do is tap each letter/# by 1, as in,
    (e.q.)
here's my ipod 4 and my ipod 2, the pswd is 123456
    ipod 4, i press 1
    ipod 2, i press 1
    ipod 4, i press 2
    ipod 2, i press 2
and so on till i reach both of them to 6 (1by1) to make sure i get it in there right. saw this on another wall it might depends on what channel your using, but i dont rly think that matters bc i have mine on auto and nvr had a problem.
i would do this even thou it may sound crazy to others....if i were you this is what i would do
    on your ipod 2Gen
    >Safari
    >address to 192.168.1.1/WL_WPATable.asp
    -(wireless security settings for passcode)
    >tap the box for the password, whatever ur security is i would copy
    -IF WEP
-copy phrase key and Key 1
    -IF WPA
    -copy phrase key
    >open Notepad
    >under iCloud account Notepad
    >Paste the Key
    >either on your pc/mac or your 2nd Gen, go back to
    >192.168.1.1/WL_WPATable.asp
    >change your Security Mode to Disable
    >goto your 4 Gen iPod Touch
    >goto settings and connect to it, if pswd is still in it then tap forget this network and reconnect to it
-once connected and got IP adresses
    >goto Notpad under iCloud
-you should have obtained your recent icloud msgs included the key you pasted
    -once obtained
    >gobk to pc/mac or ipod 2nd gen and re enabled the security and re-paste the key in
-once router adjusted try to connect to it
    >1st do your 2nd gen and forget this network reconnect to it and repaste the key
    >2nd goto ur 4rth gen from your notes, highlight the key in ur notpad and tap copy and forget this network reconnect to it and paste the key.
this should work bc i did it myself when i couldnt get connected bc thats almost the same steps i did.
somtimes i put my name up on here. remeber these names we put as our nickname doesnt mean its our real name or anything like that,

  • IPod touch 5 won't connect to Internet?

My iPod touch 5 was working with my home wifi this morning. When I went to school, it wouldn't connect to the wifi. As my school's wifi isn't the greatest, I thought it was just the wifi. When I went to work, it wouldn't connect to the wifi there either. I thought this was unusual. When I came back home, it still wasn't connecting. It shows it connected in the Settings app, but when I go to like Safari, it says my iPod is not connected to the internet. When I go on the facebook app, it refreshes but photos don't load, which is weird. I would prefer not to restore my iPod if possible. Any help?

  • Apple ipod Touch 8GB 4th Gen connecting to other networks

Two questions really, can I use the above iPod Touch 4th Gen to connect to either of the two networks:
    1) My Virgin broadband network (I see that you can scan networks and connect but I wish to confirm)?
    2) My Blackberry mobile hotspot?
    Thank you. MSeeya

  • My 8gb Ipod Touch 4g won't connect to my home wifi

I've selected the right network, typed in the right password and it won't connect.
And it's the strongest signal out of all the networks, the network itself is very strong.
This message comes up 'Unable to join network ...'
I know my ipod touch will connect to other wifi networks as I accidently connected to my neighbour's wifi, so I know it works. Obviously I want to use my own wifi network.
Any ideas of how to get it to work?

I am having the same problem as BexziJayne and so I followed the same instructions.  But it still is doing the same thing.
My IPod will connect easily and quickly to any other WIFi but when I am at home, even though I've typed in the correct password, it basically remains in 'thinking' or 'connecting' mode.   Basically, in Settings --> beside WI-Fi, it shows my network name, but if I click on it, you can see in the next screen that it is still thinking about connecting.  My IPod even shows 3 blue bars in the upper left hand corner, which indicates that it is connected.
Is there anything else I should be doing?
    Thanks

  • IPod touch 4 won't connect to wifi anymore

Ok, I am having some problems re-connecting to my wifi at home. I have done all the updates for my ipod touch 4th gen, and I've tried almost everything. I have turned wifi off & on, forgotten the network, reset network settings and STILL nothing is working. When I look at the info on the network I'm trying to connect to, the IP address and some other numbers don't match the info on my phone(which does connect to wifi). The numbers start with 169... Instead of 192..(my home wifi IP). It won't let me change the info either. Please help me out! My games work but I can't get on the internet or the apple stores. And all the other devices in the house connect except my iPod!

The 169... address means that the iPod could not obtain an IP address from the router

Then I realized on the screen that says "connect to iTunes", on the top right it would say "iPod" and in the middle it would show a little lock symbol. I was told this ment it was disabled and that's why it wouldn't work. But how would I restore it or reset it if I cannot get passed the connect to itunes screen and it wont connect to the computer.
