Ipod touch 4G won't connect to iTunes after most recent update

I have recently update itunes and when I plug my 4G iPod touch into my computer nothing happens. It won't connect or sync. I have restarted, re authorized, rebooted my ipod and nothing. It was working just fine before the update half an hour ago. What can I do to get it to sync/connect again WITHOUT having to do something that requires erasing my ipod or itunes. I am very tired of having to do that because of Apple's updates.

oke i'm not done with the whole thing, but i'm doing that right now. Most of the advice I've already read didn't work and at a certain point it said something about shutting down programs then restart. but i notice that there are some pretty important system things in that list and i don't want to mess up my pc :s i'm not a pc genius... and because i'm dutch and my pc-language is in dutch I often have trouble translating and well... i don't always understand the technical stuff in all the articles -_-

IPod touch (1G) won't connect to iTunes Windows 7

iPod touch firmware is 3.1.3. iTunes is version 10.3.1.55. Windows 7 is Professional version, 64-bit.
I've found a number of web posts about this issue dating back to 2009, but none of those solve my issue or exactly describe it. I can put my iPod touch into Device Recovery Mode, connect to iTunes, and restore the iPod, but once that is done, I cannot connect the device to iTunes (Windows 7 64-bit mode). However, I can connect the iPod to my Vista laptop, and I can connect the iPod to my Windows 7 machine if I run iTunes in the XP Mode virtual machine (32 bit). I've gone through the steps looking for a conflicting USB service, and if there is one, it's part of Windows 7. This started after I updated iTunes recently, but I'm not sure that had anything to do with it since I had not connected it in a while, and the first thing I did was update iTunes. Any ideas? In order for you to solve this problem you have to follow these stept if your running windows:
1'st step is to go into the device manager
2 step is to go to portable devices (it is rught under network adapters)
3 step is to right clic apple iphone and click update drivers
4 step is to brows your drivers from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
After that your itunes will pump up alown and youl see your iphone right there.

I have tried everything but can't get iPod touch to connect to iTunes. Power and home button reset won't work. Help!

I followed and repeated those instructions earlier with no luck. I have downloaded the latest version of iTunes, restarted my pc, fully charged the iPod......nothing it just returns to the red "disabled, connect to iTunes" screen. Each time I connect to itunes, it says "the iPod is locked please enter the pass code. Thanks so much for replying, I amreally frustrated.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

I recently bought an iPod Touch 3G and when I connected it, iTunes popped up saying I need to download V.10 for it to connect. My OS is Tiger 10.4.11 and iTunes 10 doesn't work on Tiger as you may already know.
On the back of the iPod case it states that you need iTunes 9 or higher for it to work, which I have yet it's still asking me to update. Is there any way around this or does it look like I have to buy the update for my OS?

What version of the iOS do you have on the iPod? If it is the latest (4.2.1) then you need iTunes 10.X which requires OSX 10.5.8 or later. To check go to Settings>General>About on the iPod.

My iPhone 4S isn't recognized by iTunes after most recent update to iTunes.

So after updating to the most recent version of iTunes, my iPhone 4s will not sync with iTunes. Before the update, no problem whatsoever. It is recognized by my IOS (Windows 7) and I can see it on my control panel but how do I get it to sync?

The new iTunes *****! It wasnt able to backup my data too and after restoring I had to Restore with my a month old Backup(Contacts were intact in that). For your problem, Goto Edit>Preferences>Devices, click "Reset Sync Data", Close iTunes and reopen. This might work and if this doesn't than Restart Your PC and Hard reset your iPhone by Pressing Home and Sleep button together(This will just restart your iPhone and won't restore anything) than Sync, else a new update or magic will help you out(if you don't plan to restore your iPhone.

Does it appear as a camera?
Have you tried a different cable? USB port?
Try another computer to help determine if you have a computer or iPod problem.

My iphone (3G, running OS4) and ipod-touch can no longer connect to itunes after installing 10.1. The error message (for both) is: "Apple Mobile Device Service is not started." (Windows XP SP3)
Following the help file, I have stopped/started the service, no good. I have uninstalled/reinstalled itunes, no good. Can you help??

You do not. You have to restore the iPod. You can then restoe from backup and get to where you were when the the last backups was made.
