IPod Touch 4G Won't Connect to Wifi?

Hey all.
So, recently I got a new iPod Touch 4G. Just four days after, it fell out of my pocket (I fell as well) and cracked, big time. On the top left, there's a lovely hole where I can see the "insides".
I've had it for about two months now, and starting late last month my internet started to randomly drop. It would pick up soon after, so I was okay with it. But then slowly it started taking longer to pick back up. Now, it's taking at least a half hour sometimes to pick back up. I have no idea why it's doing this, but I've tried many things, such as:
*rebooting the router (many times, guys, it's not the solution...)
*resetting my network settings
*hitting "forget network" on our home wifi connection
*rebooting the iPod
I had an iPod Touch 3G for three years, and it never showed this problem. When it did (rarely), a router reboot was the fix, as the router was... well, I don't really remember, it was a long time ago.
Anyway, I've tried many things. I've asked relatives who've dealt with Apple products for years, and the one said it was not the iPod's problem, no doubt, it was the router problem.
However, every other device (four laptops, two iPhones that usually stick to 3G, a 3DS, and surely others) have shown no problem... though I do remember my laptop going down ONCE, whereas on my iPod it is MANY times a day.
Is there any idea what this is? It's completely ridiculous. It says "not connected", like the connection is gone, but I'll have my laptop in tow and it works with no problems.
I plan to take it to Apple on the weekend.
Does anyone have any help at all?

  • IPod touch 4 won't connect to wifi anymore

Ok, I am having some problems re-connecting to my wifi at home. I have done all the updates for my ipod touch 4th gen, and I've tried almost everything. I have turned wifi off & on, forgotten the network, reset network settings and STILL nothing is working. When I look at the info on the network I'm trying to connect to, the IP address and some other numbers don't match the info on my phone(which does connect to wifi). The numbers start with 169... Instead of 192..(my home wifi IP). It won't let me change the info either. Please help me out! My games work but I can't get on the internet or the apple stores. And all the other devices in the house connect except my iPod!

The 169... address means that the iPod could not obtain an IP address from the router

My ipod connects with no problem at home but when i go to the internet cafe it gets 4 strong bars and says it is connected but then when i try to open the internet it says it is not connected. I have tried shutting it on and off, tried the renew lease button. This is the funny part - some days it does work but mostly it does not. Thanks for any advice

  • My ipod touch says it is connected to wifi, but won't run anything that uses it like safari or itunes, and I don't know how to fix it

Can anyone help me? my  ipod touch says it is connected to wifi, but it won't run anything that uses wifi like safari or itunes, and I don't know how to fix it

You didn't indicate if it ever worked.  If it NEVER did, the problem could be caused by a firewall in the router.  For reasons that I do not understand, that will affect IOS (iPod/iPad) communication but will not affect computers or other devices.
You will need administrative access to the router.  If a firewall is present, turn it off and test the iPod again.  If it works, turn the firewall back on but weaken it a notch and test the iPod again.  Repeat as required.

  • IPod Touch 4gen will not connect to wifi no matter what

My white 8gb iPod Touch 4gen will not connect to wifi, I have reset the network and the entire iPod. When I got it for Christmas 2011 it worked perfectly for a few months then all of a sudden it stopped connecting, every connection I try to connect it to says the same thing; unable to join network... I am getting fed up, my first gen iPod Touch will connect to the wifi no problem, but the thing is it keeps crashing. I can't use it for more than a couple of minutes and it goes back to the home screen. If anyone could help, it is greatly appreciated!

  • Tried to update to newest version. I got error because i didn't have this recovery program disc that was supposed to come with the purchase but it didn't and now my ipod touch 8gb won't connect with itunes and is stuck on a connection with itunes screen

I tried to update to newest version via pc. I got error because i didn't have this recovery program disc that was supposed to come with the purchase so it says, but it didn't and now my ipod touch 8gb won't connect with itunes anymore and is stuck on a screen displaying an itunes icon with a usb icon.

oke i'm not done with the whole thing, but i'm doing that right now. Most of the advice I've already read didn't work and at a certain point it said something about shutting down programs then restart. but i notice that there are some pretty important system things in that list and i don't want to mess up my pc :s i'm not a pc genius... and because i'm dutch and my pc-language is in dutch I often have trouble translating and well... i don't always understand the technical stuff in all the articles -_-

  • HT4972 ipod touch reset unable to connect to  wifi

Got rid of white screen after three days of trying to connect to I Tunes and was able to reset Ipod Touch.   Now I cannot get wifi, that area is faded. Why does everthing have to be so difficult.

Is there any Physical damage like being dropped or Liquid damage like getting it wet? Usually the "White Screen - Wifi Greyed out " combo is from one of these two things. Wifi is burned out and gone if it is greyed out in settings screen. Contact Apple for Out of warranty repair if you damaged it or have them repair it if it is still under warranty.

  • My 8gb Ipod Touch 4g won't connect to my home wifi

I've selected the right network, typed in the right password and it won't connect.
And it's the strongest signal out of all the networks, the network itself is very strong.
This message comes up 'Unable to join network ...'
I know my ipod touch will connect to other wifi networks as I accidently connected to my neighbour's wifi, so I know it works. Obviously I want to use my own wifi network.
Any ideas of how to get it to work?

I am having the same problem as BexziJayne and so I followed the same instructions.  But it still is doing the same thing.
My IPod will connect easily and quickly to any other WIFi but when I am at home, even though I've typed in the correct password, it basically remains in 'thinking' or 'connecting' mode.   Basically, in Settings --> beside WI-Fi, it shows my network name, but if I click on it, you can see in the next screen that it is still thinking about connecting.  My IPod even shows 3 blue bars in the upper left hand corner, which indicates that it is connected.
Is there anything else I should be doing?
    Thanks

  • How do i configure safari on new ipod touch - it won't connect to my wifi

How do I configure my husband's new iPod Touch (4th Gen.) for Safari? We have WiFi at home but when I choose our network nothing happens and there seem to be loads more things to fill in none of which I know the answer to! Help!

To connect to a WiFi network you need only enter the password for the network. If DHCP is configured in your router (it normally is) it will fill in all the relevant fields.

  • IPod Touch 1g "unable to connect to wifi"

Hi . I recently got an iPod touch 1g from my sister's friend , and everything on it works fine, except the wifi. Now I dont know why . because my Ps3 is connected to it, my Macbook Air is connected to it, my other laptop is connected to it , and my sister's ipod touch (im not sure what generation) is also connected to it . I have my 1st generation's firmware upgraded to 3.1.3 and I still cant connect. when it says " checking for networks" it wont find any, but my sister's finds every network on our street . I tried reseting all the settings , restored it twice , reset it , and nothing . I need help . Thanks in advance

  • Ipod Touch 4G unable to connect to WiFi

Have been trying to connect to home WiFi for few hours but with no success. The Ipod keeps telling me that I do not have the right password, but i am sure the password is correct as I had connected successfully my Iphone 4 with the same password.
I've read some of the postings. Is there a inherent problem with Ipod's iOS4 to connect to WiFi ?
I have tried the following with no success:
    a. Reboot your router (unplug it from its power source)
    b. Reset the touch network settings - tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Setting
    c. When the touch restarts, tap Settings > WiFi > Other and log onto your network by re-entering your network name, security setting, network password.
Any other suggestions to resolve this problem ?

Since your iPhone 4 has connected, your iOS iPod touch should connect as well. It's the same OS. The steps you followed (mine, btw) generally fix most WiFi issues but not all and, with so little information about your network setup, it's hard to say what is going on.
So please, some details about your network:
    Router make/model
    Encryption used
    SSID hidden or visible
    DHCP on or off
Since passwords are case sensitive, could it be that you forget to capitalize some characters in your password?
Also, you could have a hardware problem with your touch (which generation, btw?). To rule out hardware problems, reset your encryption to none and see if it will connect.
