IPod Touch 4G Won't Sync Calendars or Calendars

Today, my OCD kicked in and I wanted to get all my content synced between all of my devices. Turns out, my iPod Touch 4G won't sync contacts or calanders with my PowerBook G4. The PowerBook is running Mac OS 10.5.8, iTunes 10, iCal 3.0.8, and Address Book 4.1.2. The iPod is running iOS 6.1.3.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
David

You can only sync contacts, calendars and some other things with the one syncing computer you can have.
You may not be able  to make this computer (because it has OSX 10.5.8 which can only go to iTunes 10.6.3)
If the Mac has an Intel processor you can update to at least 10.6.8. The you can do the following to make this your syncing computer
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities
You can try doing what the article says. If it does not allow yo to restore  the iPod then you can't

  • IPod Touch 4G won't sync at all

My iPod Touch 4G won't sync at all when I plug it into a different computer. It'll warn "erase all content and replace it with this computer's library" or whatever that message is, so I click ok, then it'll say "preparing to sync (step 1 of 3)", then "determining apps to sync (step 2 of 3)", then nothing happens, whatever step 3 of 3 is doesn't even appear. Already authorized this computer, also did a hard reset.
    Does anyone know what's happening?
And "restore to factory settings" is the last thing I want to do so no need to answer with that. I doubt it's anything wrong with the iPod anyways as it synced fine the last time I used it, which was back in the iTunes 10.x days.

The message means that something happened to your computer files and now the iPod thinks that the iTunes library is a different library. You need to do the following:
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive: Apple Support Communities
If all the synced media is already on the compute all yo have to do is backup the iPod and restore from that backup.

  • Ipod touch 4G won't sync

    Hello,
My iPod touch (4G) won't sync with iTunes.
When i plug it into my pc it recognizes the iPod, but the device doesn't appear in iTunes.
I use iTunes 11 because iTunes 12 doesn't work on my pc.
My pc runs on windows 8.1, my iPod touch is running on the latest update of iOS 6.
Can anyone help me with this?
    Thanks

I have the same problem and read where one person turned off ICloud.  I do not have I Cloud activated so I went ahead and turned off WiFi.  Now it is syncing.
It used to not get past Step 1 of Syncing and it would say "Fail to Sync" or something like that.

  • IPod Touch 4G won't sync new apps on 2nd authorized computer, but WILL sync music, podcasts, etc.

    Hello.
Everywhere I've read about apps not syncing to the iPod touch while using iTunes on a second authorized computer have mentioned that they could sync nothing to the device. Yet I have a different problem, one where I have no problem syncing new music, podcasts, pictures, etc., and only new apps refuse to sync to the device.
I recently purchased a new iPod Touch 4G. My computer being away for repairs at the time that I bought it, I synced only podcasts, apps, pictures, and video to the device using a friend's computer under a different Apple ID. When I first synced it, I authorized that computer with the device, and it mentioned you could sync the device with up to 5 computers, so I figured I would have no problem when I got my own computer back.
Having now received my computer back, I connected my new iPod touch to my own iTunes under my Apple ID and authorized my computer as the second authorized computer. These are the only two computers I have ever synced the device with.
I copied my music library, more pictures, and more podcasts to the device with no problems, and they play/show on the device no problem. Also, I can still access and use all the content previously on my iPod.
I have downloaded a few new free apps that I wanted to sync to my iPod using my computer, but when I go to sync them to my iPod, they won't sync to the device. I have downloaded all the apps I had originally put on my iPod using my friends computer so that I would receive updates for the apps automatically. I have not tried to sync these, though I have (or iTunes at least is telling me I have) synced any updates that have since come up for the apps already on my iPod.
I have tried clicking and dragging the new apps from the apps tab over to the device tab, and iTunes shows them syncing, and to the best of my knowledge, shows that it has finished syncing them. It also shows that it has completely synced all the new apps when I try syncing on the apps tab under the device tab (the one that shows up when you click on the tab for your iPod, and is next to Summary, Pictures, Video, etc.). I have all the boxes checked off, and the boxes next to all the apps are checked off as if they're on my iPod, but they don't show up on the screen display next to it. When I click and drag the new apps over so they appear and click "apply," iTunes shows that it has completed the syncing process, but the apps won't show up on my iPod, and disappear from the sceen display on the device apps tab the next time I sync my iPod.
I have the latest version of iTunes, and have downloaded all updates for it. My iPod's less than a month old, so I don't think there's any updates for the iPod itself.
I also currently don't have the ability to sync over wi-fi, or have wi-fi access on my iPod at home, though I could set it up if it would fix the problem. Right now, I'm only syncing my iPod using usb and iTunes.
I would prefer, if possible, not to have to restore the iPod to factory settings, and begin anew. However, if this is necessary, any help on how to restore the iPod and back it up would be much appreciated.
Any help you can give is awesome.
    Thank you for your time.

Hey, I'm probably too late and you may have already solved it but here's a solution. In iTunes go to Edit then preferences and then click on reset dialog warnings. What happens is when you first sync your ipod, you receive a message saying something like transfer?and you've probably selected "Do not show this message again". I don't really know why but iTunes assumes that the apps on your iPod are already on your computer and therefore need no transferring.
After you've reset it, the same message should pop up about transferring. As long as you don't click don't show, you should be good to go.

  • ITunes deleted songs/videos/playlists from iPod touch and won't sync them onto iPod, but songs can still be played on iTunes however I just can't transfer them back onto my iPod. HELP!

Hey, so I'm wondering if any of you can help me with this issue, I'd be unbelievably grateful for any help, I can't resolve it and I dislike my long commute without my iPod to listen to! Thanks in advance
HOW IT HAPPENED: I had my iPod touch (32GB, 3rd generation) plugged into a speaker charging whilst playing music, and simultaneously I had iTunes (latest version for windows) open on my laptop (Dell - Windows). My iPod started to sync wirelessly with iTunes on my laptop and my music suddenly cut off.
WHAT HAPPENED: Once the sync had finished, all (almost 4000) songs (and videos) had been wiped off my iPod (including any playlists) with the exception of less than thirty songs, all of which I'd noticed were songs I'd purchased on the iTunes store, a seemingly random selection though - some from a couple of months ago, some from a couple of years ago.
I closed down everything on my laptop and restarted both laptop, iTunes and iPod then plugged my iPod in to sync. My iTunes library on my laptop is fully intact, complete with playlists, and I'm able to play songs normally from there, however despite numerous attempts, they just won't sync onto my iPod. Interestingly, no apps were deleted from my iPod. There's plenty of room on my iPod now, and even when everything on my iTunes library is synced onto it, there's still around 3GB space, so it can't be an issue to do with lack of space. I have no idea why it's happened, and the settings are for everything on iTunes to be synced to my iPod (I checked again) so it's not an issue with selective items to sync only either.
A huge thank-you to anyone who can help me!

I have the same problem!! only thing is that i have the ipod touch 5th generation and a mac. I've been trying to find a way to get all my music to play cuz it will only play on itunes but when i try to play it on my ipod it'll just show a circle with a red square in the middle next to the songs i cant play.

  • Brand new iPod Touch 4g won't sync music from iTunes?

Every time I plug my iPod into my laptop to add more music I get an error saying iTunes cannot read the contents and I need to restore it. Last week I got a new white iPod Touch 8gb 4g. I had the same problem with my last iPod and when I bought the new one I was hoping I wouldn't anymore but I do. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, restarting my computer, hard rebooting my iPod, turning my iPod off and on, deleting old backups, etc. But still it won't sync correctly. Sometimes it will start the sync, but rush through all the steps without actually syncing anything. So I try to sync again and again to see if it will add anything but it just rushes through all the steps without doing anything. And eventually I get the message saying it cannot be read and needs to be restored. I'm using windows, and my iPod as well as iTunes are both up to date. And I have plenty of space left on my iPod. I've even checked for viruses/threats but there are none on my computer. Even to add one new song I have to restore first. Even though it's a brand new iPod. Any ideas why it won't sync or why iTunes cannot read the contents??? I've been having this problem for awhile. A couple months. With my old iPod and my new one.

My understnding is that this may be a Windows related problem or sometimes USB problem.   I have the same issue and I know how to correct it, BUT ( and this is a BIG BUT) ... it will happen again and each time it does you will have to fully restore your I-Pod.  Here is my post: https://discussions.apple.com/message/18645554#18645554 discussing a potential one time fix, but the problem happens the next time you plug in the I-Pod Touch 4G.

  • IPod touch 5g won't sync with iTunes windows 8.1

I updated to iTunes 11.1.4.62 on windows 8.1. Now my iPod touch will not sync when it's plugged in to iTunes. I've been syncing with this pc since I got my iPod no problems until now it asked me wheather I trust this pc now I want this fixed.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features(Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (If this won't uninstall press on)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
See also HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP or HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Should you get the error iTunes.exe - Entry Point Not Found after the above reinstall then copy QTMovieWin.dll from:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    and paste into:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
The above paths would be for a 64-bit machine. Hopefully the same fix with the " (x86)" omitted would work on 32-bit systems with the same error.

  • IPod Touch suddenly won't sync after installing iOS 4.0

I installed the new OS 4.0 and now my ipod touch won't sync. The mac doesn't see it and it doesn't even charge when hooked up. It charges fine with the same cable on a wall charger. My son's ipod is fine, I've restarted the ipod and the mac, I've reset the ipod, i've swapped usb's and cables, no luck. I've tried holding down the lock and power buttons. It's a 32 gig model. My iTunes is version 9.2 (the current version). When I had SW version 3.1.3. I had the same problem with an updated app, but when I updated the app again the problem vanished. I have no way of knowing which app it is or whether its the OS because they all updated at once.

A couple of things come to mind. If Apple Mobile Device Services is not working properly, your Mac isn't going to see the iPod. You can troubleshoot that problem with some help from this Apple Support article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1747
The other thing that could be happening is a hard drive permissions problem. Chances are you haven't done this in a long time. Go to Applications > Utilities > Disc Utilities and select your hard drive where iTunes is installed. Check off the Repair Permissions box and hit go.

I installed an update for an app and now my ipod touch won't sync. The mac doesn't see it and it doesn't even charge when hooked up. It charges fine with the same cable on a wall charger. Welcome to the discussions,
you can delete the app on your ipod by touching the icon until it starts to shake, then hit the little cross to delete it.
Did you try to connect in recovery mode to see if it is recognized by your mac? http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

  • I updated to iOS 5 and now my iPod Touch 3g won't sync. Help?

My iTunes told me to update to iOS5, so I did. I saved a backup, got the new OS and it restored my iPod.
The problem is that it didn't actually restore it. None of my music or apps was on my iPod. So I tried syncing it. No such luck.
I tried changing USB ports, restarting iTunes, restarting my iPod and restarting my computer. I tried syncing it again. It didn't work.
So I restored my iPod again, or at least tried to, and it told me that there was an error and the restore didn't finish. All of the apps synced, but none of my music.
I tried restoring and syncing again, and this time around the apps synced and maybe 10% of my music.
That's my issue. I can't for the life of me get all of my music to sync. None of the songs have error messages and there aren't any pop ups during the sync saying there's issues with the songs. They just. won't. sync. And now in order to talk to a tech, I'll have to pay $29 for something that is most definitely not my fault. Please help!

And, I've tried restoring it! Help?!?

  • My iPod Touch (4gen) won't sync and update

I have a 4th generation iPod Touch. Pretty new right?
Either way I tried updating to iOS5.0 and it said I had to delete pretty much everything and restore it to the new OS. I did. Unfortunately after it wiped my touch clean, an error occurred. It says "The iPod "iPod" could not be restored because an unexpected error occurred (1611)" or some jazz like that. I researched it, so I closed everything down, restarted my computer, and switched the USB ports like an Apple tech told someone else to do. I try syncing again, and this time I get error (1601). I have no idea what to do. I tried putting my ipod in to DFU mode, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, and I just get booted back to error (1611) or (1601). I've been at it for a few hours and needless to say am very frustrated.
What are these errors 1611 and 1601, and how do I fix them? reinstalling itunes didn't work. Putting my ipod into DFU mode didn't work. And I definitely don't want to buy another ipod because of a software problem with Apple's "update", especially because my 4th gen is still new. I had no problems syncing my ipod with iOS 4 either. So its just the "updated" software.
I'm using a Windows Vista, so its not like its an outdated computer either.

  • IPod touch 5 won't sync without restore

for the past few months my iMac has not been syncing music to my iPod. Whenever I choose to sync my iPod it goes through the process and shows 'step 1 of 7' and then will jump to 'step 4 of 4', with 'waiting for changes to be applied'. after the sync has finished, no new music has been added to my iPod. if i choose to sync again, the sync doesn't stop. even if i choose ti cancel, the syncing icon will still appear in the corner of my iPod screen. even after i have ejected it. After this any music that has not been purchased through iTunes no longer appears on my iPod.  i end up with a large amount of memory in the 'other' section, which is equal to the amount of memory that would have been taken up if the music had synced, but there is no music on the device,. I have tried manually syncing my iPod and syncing using the wi-fi but nothing ever works. i always end up having to restore my iPod and set it up as a new device. if i restore from a back-up, the iPod does not sync at all and the large amount of 'other' is still there. after i restore i can sync my entire music library once and after an hour/ 2 hours my sync will be finished.
I'm currently running iOS 8.1.2 on my iPod and i have yet to update to os x Yosemite as i have read stories about libraries being wiped. i do not want to risk the update until i have backed up my music and several thousand photos onto external hard rives as i do not want to risk losing any of my photos. As i've been writing this post, my iPod sync has been frozen on 'waiting for changes to apply' with the large amount of 'other' taking up all the memory.

After I updated to iOS 5 my ipod could no longer sync with my iTunes. When plugged in it will appear on the left of iTunes but the sync button is grayed out and unpressible. I have tried restoring a backup on the ipod, resetting to factory settings, reinstalling iTunes, rebooting computer/ipod, and creating a new library. I have never had a problem like this before. Any help would be appreciated.

You do have iTunes 10.7 or later on the computer, right?
    See:

    I would start with
