IPod Touch 4th Gen "Other" files goes 20+ GB?
I have an iPod Touch 4th Gen 32 GB non-Jailbroken with iOS 5.0.1. Recently checked at iTunes for Usage. I've given a strange result :
From above, the details of the Usage are:
Audio = 191 songs
Video = 1 Video (8 minutes)
Photos = 428 Pictures and 8 Videos ( All are under 10 mins)
Apps = 81 Apps
Other = ?
The question is, What are the "Other" Files? And in what way to reduce that file?
Optional -> My friend has a Jailbroken iPod and has this problem too, how to solve it?

We do not support jailbroken devices here so we cannot help your friend. He should unjailbreak so he is no longer in violation of the iPod license agreement.
That aside, "Other" should never be more than a GB or two, so it would probably be a good idea to restore your iPod. Try from a backup first, and if that doesn't work, restore to factory settings.

I fell down the stairs the other day and busted my other ipod to the gamewerks near my house. the guy said he couldnt fix that ipod so he gave me a new one.. a better one a 32GB, the broken one was 8GB. but he told me the only bad thing is that the camera does not work and he doesnt know why... he just couldnt get it to workkk... any ideas on whats wrong?

I tried updating my iPod touch 4th gen and now the screen is bright blue or flashing white and black lines.ive tried the whole home and power button thing but it only brings up the apple icons then goes back to the blue or other screen.please help?

The iPod Touch was working perfectly fine. iTunes suggest that I update the iPod Touch to the latest operating software, and I proceeded to do so. Then a message popped up stating that the iPod Touch needs to be fully restored - and that all data will be lost. The iPod Touch now displays the 'plug into iTunes' screen, and is stuck there. There are irreplaceable family momentos on the iPod Touch. How can I recover files from an iPod Touch prior to a required restore? HELP...Your only hope is to contact a data recovery company. When it shows the connect to iTunes screen the iPod is essentially deleted.

This indicates corrupt files. A restore should resolve it.

I have an ipod touch (4th gen) and just bought a clock/charger/player. It says I need ios 4.3. I keep getting a message saying I can download ios 6.? but that it will wipe everything off my ipod. Is there any way to get the ios without wiping out my files?
There is no supported method to "downgrade" iOS on any device. If you update, you will get the latest iOS for your device, which will be iOS 6.1.3. You cannot go backwards to iOS 4.3
If you have never backed up in either iCloud or iTunes, then upgrading to iOS 6.1.3 will involve restoring your device as part of the upgrade. Without a backup to restore from, you will loose everything that is on it.
You should first connect to iTunes with your computer, sync your device without upgrading and create an up to date backup of everything. Then use the upgrade option in iTunes to update your iOS.
However, if the dock device strictly requires iOS 4.3, it will not work, as you cannot downgrade iOS. There simply is no mechanism from Apple to do that. -
I need a way of severing all services (such as message receiving and connecting to my iPhone texts) from my iPod Touch 4th gen remotely as I'm concerned it has been taken and I did not activate 'find my iPod' before its disappearance. I have already changed my Apple ID passwords in the hope that it would require my new password to recieve any further messages. I tested it on my iPad and this is seemingly not the case. I also do not want whoever has it to be able to see my mobile conversations as I also own an iPhone and I do not want them to be able to recieve all messages sent to and from my iPhone. there is nothing you can do to find it if the find my ipod app was not activated if it was stolen all you can do is file a police report you would need to have the serial number when you file the police report, plus notify your celluar provider that your iphone may have been stolen and they can make a note on their network about the phone

im going to restore my ipod touch(4th gen) to factory settings. my question is, how do i back up all notes from the app "notes" so they can be reinstalled? or is it allready backed up as per the main "back-up" ? I know its a simple question, but i dont know the answer. please help.
The iPod backup that iTunes makes includes Notes.and other app data. However, it does not included synced media like apps and music.
Thus, just restore from backup with all your synced media in your iTunes library.

It includes arwor, mail. messages and some app date. Basically, what is not icluded in the other categories. If over about 1 1/2 GB that usually indicates that the "other" includes corrupted files. Usually restoring from backup eliminated the corrupted files. However, sometimes restoring to factory settings/new iPod is required.

My Ipod Touch 4th Gen is listed as offline, even when I am using it to track other devices. Restarting has no effect.
Try going to Settings>iCloud, turn Find My iPod off, then after a minute or so, turn it back on.

When try to connect my iPod touch 4th gen to my house Wifi it won't connect, it used to work fine but now it dosen't work, but it does say that the internet is available, but when I tap on it it just loads. all other devices work fine.
Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?

I have an ipod touch 4th gen. Is there anyway to enter my location manually or do i have to register my home router with skyhook? I live in the middle of nowhere literally and my home router is the only wi-fi for miles.

I am using the ipod for music and also the ihome weather link through their i+sleep app. The ipod just keeps searching for my location.
It seems like you could have a default location set up in the ipod. Any ideas? -
I have two sons with ipod touch 4th gen. One has access to our wifi, the other does not. Any ideas????
Try manually entering/searching for your wifi access point under the "Other" option. Also, if you have lots of devices connected to your wifi, you may have reached your limit. (e.g. the airport express has a max of 10 while the basestation may have 50. Check your packiging on whatever router you have, may help.)
