Ipod Touch 4th Generation apps keeps crashing and slow 5.1.1

I have an ipod touch 4th generation. I had my ipod since two years ago. I have upgraded to ios 6.1.3 before and then downgraded it to 5.1.1 because it was really slow. After downgrading I downloaded a couple of apps that I needed but most of them seem to crash alot even the app store. It hasn't been like this before. I also even tried deleting them on the multitask bar but same thing happens. I just want my ipod to be just the way like it was before. I don't want to buy a new one. Is there any way to fix this issue?

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

I've also had a problem, not with my ipod in general being slow, but with my keyboard. When I type there is a delay and sometimes if I am typing it doesn't show up on the screen right away.

I tried that but I realized that the apps weren't installed yet, so I installed the apps but the same message keeps popping up, saying that it need an iOS 7.0 to be able to install. What's really is confusing is that my friend also has and Ipod Touch (4th Generation) and that problem never occurred to her, and we had the same iOS. The apps that I a trying to install are Phonto and Gmail, and on their description boxes it states that they are both compatible with iOS 7.0 and later. I cannot download Adobe Reader app using my IPod Touch 4th Generation due to iOS upgrade.

I have an IPod Touch 4th Generation (the older model) and the highest operating system stops at iOS 6.1.6. Unfortunately, when I tried to download Adobe Reader app, it only works for the newer IPod Touch 5th Generation with an operating system of iOS 7.0 or higher. My question is that since I cannot download Adobe Reader app, is there a way for me to open PDF files on my IPod Touch by using Safari? There is no way I can find an Adobe Reader app that works for my operating system or an operating system that works for iOS 6.0 or lower. Is there another program similar to Adobe Reader where I can open PDF files that works for iOS 6.0 or lower?

Please note that my instructions are intended for Adobe Reader for iOS, not for all iOS apps in general.
Adobe Reader for iOS does offer earlier compatible versions for iOS 5 and 6 via the App Store. Because the supported iOS version for Adobe Reader for iOS is 5 or later.

However, I cannot speak for other apps, such as Costco app and NFL app that you have mentioned. It is up to each individual app developer/company to decide whether to take advantage of Apple's App Store's features to offer earlier versions.
Install the latest compatible version of an app on an earlier version of iOS or OS X - Apple Support
If a compatible version isn't available, you can try contacting the app developer. Look for contact information on the app's product page in the App Store or Mac App Store.

My iPod touch 4th generation has an annoying screen issue!

When my iPod touch 4th generation is in sleep, and I go to turn it on using the sleep/wake button, the screen will sometimes flicker on and off quickly (revealing the lock screen briefly and then going back to sleep). If I press it again it works normally, and this doesn't happen when the iPod is charging. My iPod touch is an 8 GB model and is running on iOS 6. At first I thought it was the case I was using, but I bought a new case and the issue still persisted. I am now wondering if this is a software issue, or if there is something wrong with the iPod. I have never had an issue like this before.
