IPod Touch, 4th generation not working..

Okay, so I am hoping someone can please, please help me out here. Recently, my iPod has been having many, many issues. It has been telling me that there is no disk space, so I tried syncing it AND restoring it, and it wouldn't do either. It tells me that it needs 8.5MB to do so, and I apparently don't have that. I have less than 200 songs, 19 or 20 pictures, and 10 apps.. well, I HAD them.. they are still on my laptop, but I went to Best Buy today, and the woman there erased everything I had on my iPod and told me to go home, check for updates on my laptop, and sync the iPod. So, that's what I did. But it won't update iTunes at all. The iPod now won't charge when I plug it into the computer. So basically all I have now is a like new, non working iPod. Please help me..   -Gabby.

Basically, if the damage to the iPod looks accidental then you are not covered and if not, then they'll replace it for you.  They are usually pretty good about such things.   Either way, it would still be worth a try.

  • IPod touch 4th Generation not charging.

I have had my iPod touch 4th Generation for 3 weeks, after having to buy a new one because i was refused by anyone to have my old iPod 4th Generation fixed as its screen wouldn't work
Anyway, last night my iPod was charging fine when i went to sleep, but after i went to sleep it had obviously stopped charging during the night as it had red battery
I have tried charging it in the computer, docking station and a plug in the wall but neither of them work, i have even tried changing the USB cable and nothing will work
Any ideas of how to fix this? I've seen many complaints on here about it but no one knows how its happened to their iPod because it just happens
My iPod is now completely off because it wont charge and the battery is dead so i cant get onto my iPod to do anything
    Help please?

See the not charging topic of:

Also look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bend or corroded contacts, foreign material and crack or broken plastic.

  • IPod Touch 4th Generation not recognized in iTunes 12

Before iTunes 12, I would always be able to sync my 32 GB 4th Gen iPod Touch (iOS 6.1.6) with no problem at all. After the upload, it is no longer recognized by iTunes. It's connected, but the iPod icon is nowhere to be found. I restarted my laptop, but the same problem occurs. Can I get some help with this issue. Thank you.

  • Ipod Touch 4th Generation Not Syncing

Hi. I hope someone can help with this. I have a 4th Gen Ipod touch, purchased October 2010. I recently purchased new Windows 7 notebook, transferred itunes library to new device, no problems. At present, here is my issue: when trying to sync my ipod, and ipad, to the same library on this notebook, neither would; I received an error that asked me if I wanted to set these up as new devices, which both had already been set up. Ipod touch will be recognized when plugged in, and is read as 64 GB device, but the capacity bar at the bottom of the summary page reads as 4 gb. I have tried setting it up again as new device, restoring to factory settings multiple times, uninstalled itunes as per apple's directions, verified there were no hidden files, and reinstalled itunes, but Ipod will not sync. It keeps giving me an error message that says "device cannot be synced. An internal error occurred." I talked to a senior tech at apple, who had me try to log in as new user on my notebook and this did not help. I have even deleted the itunes application file, and restored the device and "forced downloaded" the new version of itunes, and this did not help. I took the device to the apple store in my home city, and they swapped it out with a brand new one; this device did the EXACT same thing and would not sync. HOWEVER, my Ipad synced without difficulty in the same USB port that I use for the Ipod. I even added music from itunes to the ipad on the device tab in left column of itunes, and the ipad synced immediately. I updated my windows 7 in the store, which included the service pack 1 and a windows reliability update; the computer restarted, configured the new service pack, and when plugging the BRAND NEW iPOD into the computer, I get the same error; the device will not sync. I have unchecked the "sync apps and music" in the summary page, and the device runs for almost 4-5 minutes saying "syncing ipod", but I get the same error message. The tech at the store seems to think that the itunes software is corrupting the ipod at the time of the sync, but this does not occur with my ipad. I am running the latest version of Itunes on both devices, and the latest IOS on both devices. To be honest, I am quite frustrated, and at the end of my rope with this. I am planning on calling apple tomorrow again, to see why a brand new device right out of the box does not sync, even after updating my windows 7 service pack, which are updates to all of the drivers. Does anyone have any suggestions that they think may help? At this point, I have already spent 3 1/2 hours at the apple store, and 2 hours on the phone with tech support, and I still cannot get the device to sync. ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED

So, here is an update to my original question, in case anyone else has this issue. I spoke with a senior adviser at apple, who had me use the "devmgmt.msc" command in the search line of Windows 7; after expanding the USB controllers menu, she had me uninstall/delete the "apple mobile device driver" and then open "control panel" and "uninstall programs." Once the menu of programs was open, she had me highlight the program "apple mobile device controller", then repair it, and restart the computer. This fixed the issue and the iPod synced.
However, just one day ago, when I plugged in both the iPod, then the iPad (not at the same time), I get the message that "this library has already been synced to another iPod/iPad or other IOS device." It then asked if I wanted to set up as a new device or from restore of previous. That is wher I am right now; I am trying to get the same apple adviser again to discuss the case number. More to follow.

  • IPod touch 5th generation not working right since 8.3 software update.

I am having problems with my iPod 5th generation. Ever since I downloaded the new 8.3 software update when i plug it into my usb in my car my radio is reading my iPod and indexing my car radio will start playing for 23 seconds than it freezes my radio and stays at indexing and when I look at my iPod it's still playing even though the car radio is frozen at the first song it started on. I have no problems with my 4th generation one I plug it into my car and it works fine through my radio it reads that iPod and indexes it and starts playing and stays playing.

There's a couple of things you will want to look at:
    1. Make sure you have the latest version of Remote
    2. Check your firewall settings on your Mac (in System Preferences > Security) and set it to accept all connections.
    3. Remote uses two ports through your router firewall that you may have to enable. See this article for details: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1741

  • Dear Community - Please Help.  iPod Touch 4th Generation Not Recognized Suddenly on Macbook Pro

    Hello all,
Just today my iPod Touch is not being recognized by my macbook pro - OSX Mountain Lion.  Literally was working yesterday.
I have tried all the suggestions and trouble shooting and have scoured these community pages for an answer trying everything...
         - Restart and Shutdown the Macbook
         - Reset iPod - even did a full reset (didn't have a ton of content on there - no biggie)
         - Checked the five cords i have with my iPad and the USB ports on the macbook and all work with the iPad no problem
         - etc...
The iPod DOES charge no problem with the wall adaptor, so the input on the iPod itself is fine... and the iPod functions and Apps are working perfectly, it just won't be recognized by the computer.
    What can I do here????
Very puzzled and stressed as I need to load it up with music for tomorrow!

There was a reply here that I have been trying and now the reply is not in this discussion...
Is there anything else that anyone could suggest...

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod touch 4th generation not charging, not doing anything

My son lost his ipod touch 6 months ago. We found it last night, but now it seems completely dead, even when I plug it into the wall charger or computer. It was completely fine before he lost it, and was just "hiding" safely under a bookshelf for the past few months.

If a battery isn't discharged or recharged for some time, it can lose capacity. You can try this method which might help if it is just frozen: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

  • Every time I try and use iTunes or the App Store on my iPad Mini, I keep getting the message "Cannot connect to iTunes Store". However, on my iPod Touch 4th Generation - signed into the same account - it works with no problems. Can anyone help? Thanks!

As I've already mentioned, I can't connect to iTunes or the App Store, the same message appears every time: "Cannot connect to the iTunes Store". I downloaded a few apps before I connected my iPad Mini to my Computer. I started doing an update that was about 9 or 10 hours long, somewhere around that time, and I unplugged it about halfway through the update and since then I've not been able to get onto iTunes or the App Store. I checked to see if I could continue the update but when I looked on iTunes again, no updates appeared. On my iPod Touch 4th Generation, everything works absolutely fine and it is logged into the same Apple ID. I've tried resetting my Network Settings, logging into someone else's Apple ID, connecting to a different Wifi, changing the DNS settings to 8.8.8.8, rebooting my Computer and iPad and changing the HTTP Proxy to Auto. Is there anything else I could try or am I just overlooking something? I would really appreciate it if someone could help me out here, thanks!

Can you connect to a wifi source on the device? Enable wifi in settings on the device itself. If you don't have wifi at home, there may be a local hotspot you can use for this.
The reason this happens is carriers don't want people downloading huge files that would slow their network as well as eat up your data plan.

he menu button of the ipod touch (4th generation) is not working and the service center of ipod is asking us to pay for the fixation of the said item even though it's still on warranty. this is the case number 215866894. And the service center said that they don't cover that center part of the ipod so they're asking us money before they can fix it. We bought the ipod last december 8, 2010 and we brought it to the service center last april, 2011 here in the philippines. And until now they're not fixing it because they're asking us to pay half the price of the item which is 8,040 pesos..

As advised, you need to call Apple about this.

No one here works for Apple (no one who will reply, anyway) so there's nothing anyone here can do to help you with this issue.

  • My ipod touch 4th generation says to connect to itunes. I did, and it says I have to restore my ipod for it to work. I have about 6,000 photos on there that I do not want to lose. What do I do?

My iPod touch 4th generation says on the screen to connect to iTunes. When i connected it to iTunes, it says i must restore my ipod for it to work. However, I have over 6,000 pictures that I've taken over the past two years that i do not want to lose. What do I do? I already tried resetting it by holding down the home/power button, that doesn't help.

  • Hiya, my ipod touch 4th generation cameras are not working.

Hiya, my ipod touch 4th generation cameras are not working. I had the screen replaced about a month ago and it was working fine.  I woke up the other day and went on my camera and it had stopped working, it won't let me change from the front to back camera so i don't know what the problem  is: now all it shows when i go on the camera app is the shutter or a black screen. I have tried the advice people have said but it hasn't seemed to work. Any help would be appreciated!

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

    - Reset all settings

    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
