IPod touch 5 battery drains very quickly even when not used

HI , I got a new iPod touch 5 for Christmas and let the battery drain before charging to 100%.
within a very short period of time and without using the iPod  , (poss 2 - 3 hours ) the iPod was completly flat and would not even show the charging symbol. I charged it again and the same happened again , i did update the iPod during this time so it is currently running the latest iOS , I have tried a hard reset but still the battery drains very quickly without using the iPod at all. It is currently pretty useless as the battery life is so short !!!

  • I have updated ipad3 to ios7 and now battery drains very fast even when not in use

Why is my battery draining so fast even when I'm not using it . last night I put it down with 45% and woke up to dead battery. I upgraded to ios7 last week. I have ipad 3.thanks

    Hi!
I have an iPad 3,3 GSM. I didn't update it since iOS 5.1.1. iPad works almost a week for me. And updated it to 7.1 at last Friday.
After update my battery drains notable fast. ~10-12% overnight(~8h) in standby mode. I've tried to turn off parallax, all location services and background apps. But nothing's changed.
So I''ve found that in usage section I ve almost the same values of usage and standby time. And I realized that one thing that drains my battery is "Find my ipad" service!!! I turned off it and my ipad works as with iOS 5.1.1:
2% overnight max!! And now it's drained only 14% after 4h20m of usage with parallax turned on! (yes i've only surfed web and read a book but nevertheless)
So it's your choice what to prefer - be sure that your ipad either protected from stealing or long battery life!

  • My iPad is a few years old but my battery is running down very quickly even when not in use? I have about 16% usage still available !

My iPad is a few years old but the battery is running down very quickly, is there anything I can do ?

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
    http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. • My ipod touch battery keeps losing power even when switched off

Why? What can I do? Change the battery?

I believe I have the information you're looking for, in return, please repond to the thread saying if it's useful or not.
The iPod Touch can lose battery under several conditions:
    1. If the Touch is left in the USB cradle, disconnected, the wires can leech current, reducing charge.
    2. Heat can significantly reduce a battery's charge, so keep your unit away from the sunlight or other heat.
    3. Leaving your Touch with the wifi on will tax the battery, even if you're listening to tunes. Make sure the unit is completely disconnected and turned off.
In short, make sure your Touch has wifi completely turned off, keep its cool, and disconnect the Touch from the USB cable or cradle.

  • BlackBerry Z10 - battery drains very quickly even in standby

I have had two Blackberry Z10 phones, and at work the signal is little to none at times and the battery drains and I am not even using the phone. All email accounts and other services have been set to manual update only. A friend of mine had the exact same phone but an AT&T phone mine was Verizon. He had no problem with his in the same office and the same building. Is this a CDMA only problem or a Verizon problem? Love the phones and the way they work but the battery life at work is bad, at home where the signal is 3g and pretty steady I had no probems. I am due for an upgrade in June and am trying to find out if the Z30 for Verizon has the same problem. I have used a windows phone with the same size battery and a bigger screen same location same carrier with more use and no problem.
    Thanks

What Android apps do you have installed?
Try this first off, Do a simple reboot on the BlackBerry in this manner: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, remove the battery for a minute, and then reinsert the battery to reboot. A reboot in this manner is prescribed for most glitches and operating system errors, and you will lose no data on the device doing this.
Watch your device another day and see how it goes.

  • BlackBerry Q5 - battery drains very quickly even in standby

I have been using my Q5 for approx. 18 months (only texting, BBM, and FB) Last week the battery was fully charged and then within one hour it was drained while on stand by. First issue with charging - normally I could go at least three days without a charge. Now a charge does not last one hour. As it is a non removeable battery I cannot remove and put back in. Any suggestions?

    First:
Restart: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, press and hold the upper edge power button about 20-30 seconds, ignore the 3-2-1 timer and hold until the screen goes black and you see the red LED.
    or
Reboot: With the BlackBerry device POWERED ON, using the side edge volume keys, press and hold down both of the Up and Down volume keys for about 20 seconds, ignoring the initial screenshot message... the screen will go black and reboot.
Now, see if the batttery drain remains a problem.
Second, to find the source of battery drain:
Open your Settings > App Manager > Device Monitor
    - At the top set the drop down to last 24 or 48 hours
    - What the top 3-4 apps/processes and percentages are that are using your battery most?
    - At the bottom, tap the CPU and what are the top 3-4 apps or processes and their percentages using the CPU?

  • Battery dies so fast even when not using it

My battery could be at 100% and when I take it off the charger after one minute it drops to 93% and I wasn't even on it. I've only had it for three weeks.

That is a pretty sudden drop in charge level, mine has on occassion dropped 1% if the battery had just reached 100% and was then unplugged...if it does this consistently, take it to an Apple store genius bar and have the techs test the battery to be sure it is ok.
You can also do a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignoring the red slider if that appears...that clears things and may help.

  • When I plug my iPad up to charge it says not charging, and my battery drains very quickly what can I do to fix?

When I plug my iPad up to charge it says not charging, and my battery drains very quickly what can I do to fix?

There are two different types of adapters by Apple that look similar. One is a 5 Watt adapter used with iPhones and iPods. The other is a 10 Watt adapter used with the iPad. Other than looking at the text on the adapter, which is hard to read, you can tell the different by looking at the socket the pin part plugs into the adapter. The 5 Watt has two notches and the 10 Watt has only one notch.
Make sure you use the 10 Watt adapter with an iPad.

Sometimes I can walk away from the computer and only have one tab open (e.g. Facebook) and when I come back to the computer a few hours later, Firefox has crashed for no reason.

  • IOS 8.1.3 - Battery draining very quickly

Since installing iOS 8.1.3 on my iPhone 6 the battery has started to drain very quickly with little to no use. Anybody else having the same problem

I too was having some serious battery drain on IOS 8.1.3 on my iPhone 5S. The phone kept getting warm (like I was using maps navigation) I think I just fixed it.  On the hunch that it had to be something with location services I went to the following location in my phones settings: Settings->Privacy->Location Services now scroll all the way down and Click System Services. Disable Cell Network Search, Setting Time Zone, and Wifi Networking. You can also try disabling these one at a time. I really don't need these services so I disabled them all.
Your phone should now cool down and hold a charge like it did before, mine does. Here are what those settings you are disabling do:
Cell Network Search:This tracks cell tower usage and congestion, and sends the data back to Apple for analysis as to what towers are being used the most, how you move between cell towers, and which ones are overused. It does not help your phone locate a cell tower. Turning this off will not affect your phone’s performance, according to Apple.
Setting Time Zone:Your time zone will be instantly adjusted according to your geographic location. Ever notice how as soon as you turn on your phone after a long flight, it displays the local time perfectly, even before getting cell signal? It’s this setting. If you turn it off, you’ll lose that functionality.
Wi-Fi Networking:This particular setting is interesting, and requires some explanation. As you move around a city, your iPhone is constantly picking up WiFi signals. It geotags that data (“XYZ WiFi is at this GPS location”), encrypts it so that it is anonymous and unique (otherwise the data would look like all hotspots are named “linksys”), and stores it as what Apple calls “crowdsourced Wi-Fi Hotspot locations”. Next time someone walks by that exact hotspot, their iPhone will know where they are without using GPS – because you basically already “marked” the area. Shutting this setting off will stop that info from being sent to Apple. It will not affect your phone’s performance.

  • Update my iphone and now the battery drains very quickly

update my iphone and now the battery drains very quickly

my battery started draining after 4 or 5 hours on iPhone 4 8GB with little or no use. It was suggested in some of the threads I consulted that it might be related to a server malfunction on an email account, and to delete the account, hard boot the phone, and re-install the account, Sure enough, this worked for me. Charged at 100% at 11pm and got up next morning at 6am at 100% ( turned the email push notifications to OFF as well ) The previous 2 days I would get up and there would be less 10% battery life. A few days before this problem started my email provider had a server issue with Outlook, I couldnt get emails to and from that account to load on my iphone, so I suspect that this was the problem; iphone and or email provider was still trying to get those emails and this was causing the drain.
