Ipod touch 5 doesn't turn on, charge, or show up on computer

Hi. My refurbished iPod touch 5 I got a couple months ago is not working. Yesterday I was listening to music and put it away. But when I took it out to turn it on it wasn't turning on. I have tried holding the home and power buttons down, but neither work. It also does not charge or show anything on screen. When I connect it to my computer it does not get detected or connect to iTunes. The charger is fine, it works on other apple devices. Tried using other charger and still did not work. What should I do need it desperately?!?

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer. However if other iOS 8 devices work with the computer no need to try another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Ipod touch doesn't turn on, screen shows that it must be connected to itunes.

pod touch doesn't turn on, screen only shows that it must be connected to iTunes. After connecting it and clicking the 'restore', downloaded the software needed to update the device. After all these steps, nothing happened. then the screen suddenly showed the apple logo, then the symbol that shows it must be connected to itunes.. happens again and again.

    Maybe here:
Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)
Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .

  • IPod touch 4th gen that wont charge or show up in itunes.

I have an iPod touch 4th gen. that wont charge. When I plug it in, it shows the battery with a little red at the one end and a lighting bolt ( the usual screen when charing the itouch after it is completely dead). I have left it in pluged in for a few hours but it never actually charges. Also when I plug it into my computer Itune won't recongnize it. The cords work fine I tested them with my other Ipods and everything worked liked normal. I have tried to restart it by holding the power and home button together but that doesn't seem to help either (again probably because it is dead). Thanks for the help.

    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • My ipod touch will not turn on, charge, or isn't recognised by itunes or my computer. I've tried most common fixes. Please help!

Hi. Last week, in this hot weather, my ipod (8gb, 4g) started flickering , screen went white and then it died! Left it off for 24 hrs to cool down and eventually it powered up again. Thing is, I needed to charge it and so put it on a dock but it wouldn't charge. Tried a diff dock, ac charger and apple usb cable to my laptop and nothing. Battery nearly completely drained, just get the flashing battery with lightning symbol when I press the on button. Not recognised by itunes or my computer and all the advice says to charge it and try again but mine doesn't seem to be charging despite being on a charger for several hours! Tried pressing on and home keys together for diff periods of time (up to 5 mins once) but still nothing. Not even getting to the apple logo stage Can someone out there please help me??

  • New ipod touch doesn't turn on when plugged in

i just bought my ipod touch yesterday. when i plugged it into my imac using the usb cable, it doesn't turn on to show that it's charging like my nano does when it's turned off. i had to turn the touch on before i could see the huge green battery icon. is there something wrong with my ipod touch? i read on other forums that it should 'turn on' to show the battery icon charging when i plug in an ipod that's turned off. i can't find any answers to my question elsewhere.
    please help! thanks so much!

After charging it for at least an hour try placing the iPod in recovery mode in order to get iTunes to see the iPod. If unsuccessful try placing it in DFU mode.

  • IPod touch will not turn on, charge or do anything.

    Hi everyone,
Yesterday I bought an iPod touch 4G. When I got home, I plugged my iPod into iTunes and synced it all up. It was working for about two hours but then it started to act weird. I would be in the middle of playing a game and it would freeze and not let me do anything. I tried pressing the home button, the lock button and the volume buttons but it just was not doing anything. I decided to put it down and just let it sit for a while. When I came back to it, it started working again but then a few minutes later it did the same thing. I tried to reset it by pressing the home and lock buttons together but that did not work. I put it away again and when I went back to it, it was fine. This happened about four times. The last time I restored it and it was working fine. This morning, it was doing the same thing so I tried to reset it and then restore it again. Nothing worked. I tried to plug it into the computer but it didn't recognize it. When I plug it into the computer now, the Apple logo appears on the screen but it goes back to black almost immediately; it keeps doing this. I have not dropped it or gotten water on it and, like I said, it was just purchased yesterday. I would appreciate any help anyone can give me on this topic.

The same happend to me last night, don't if it was a game update.
Anyway, my iPod would not turn on, connect to windows, etc
My solution was to put it in recovery mode:
    1. connect the ipod to a computer or charger
    2. press and hold the power button for 10 sec
    3. press home button for 10 seconds, do not release the power button yet
    4. after 10 seconds release the power button, keep pressing the home button
    5. when you hear a sound, release the button and wait.
    6. itunes will tell to restore it, do not do anything.
    7. just wait 10 minutes in order to allow the battery to charge, then press the power button or press it for a few seconds
    8. the iPod will restart, all should be normal, no data loss
    HTH

  • HT1430 My 4th Gen iPod touch will not turn, doesnt charge, and i can't reset in computer because it says it is protected by a passcode, but i cant enter pass code because the screen stays black and won't even light up... What do I do

My 4th gen iPod Touch has had a blank screen for about 3-4 weeks now, it will not turn on, sync, or charge. iTunes recognizes its plugged up, but i cant reset it because it says its passcode protected, but i cant enter passcode due to screen not lighting up or working. How do i fix this?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

  • My 4th gen Ipod Touch won't turn on/charge?

I have the 4th Gen Ipod touch. I was using it after it had been saying 20% battery remaining for awhile. I locked the screen, then I tryed to press the power button again to unlock it but it wouldn't work. I automatically assumed it had died completely so I tried plugging it in to charge. Even after letting it sit for a while it will not charge or turn on. I tried plugging it into a computer to charge as well, but my computer still wouldn't pick up on it. I tried the usual "hold down power button and home button at the same time for a few seconds" thing, but that was useless because my home button barely works. I cannot plug the ipod into a computer to restore it anyway, because my stuff isn't backed up and I am on iOS 4.something (as the original computer i had my iTunes on stopped working, so I havent been able to update it) so I will lose all my photos and music (I didn't purchase all my music from the itunes store). Does anybody have any suggestions? I tried calling Apple but Im out of warranty so they wouldn't help me, and theres only one Apple store in my state (and its nearly 4 hours away) so I'm basically screwed, right?
