IPod touch 5 is not charging and is not syncing.

My ipod was working fine yesterday, but then last night I tried charging it and it kept saying "USB device not recognized" it's not even charging either. I just bought this charger a couple weeks ago for like $20 I can't get a new one because my grandpa would kill me, and i can't buy a new ipod. i tried everything i could think of. I uninstalled itunes on my windows 8 laptop, and then i reset everything on my ipod. it's still not working at all. they are both up to date. should i take it to a best buy and see if they could do anything? or is there anything i could do at home to save me the trip? please help! thank you.

You buy one and only one download.
As it should have been transferred to your computer when you synced, you can contact itunes support and ask for an exception.

  • Why does my Ipod touch 5th gen not sync podcasts with my Windows Itunes? Both are up to date with versions.

I didn't see this asked so sorry if this is a duplicate question.
In Itunes (it is the most recent version for windows available as of 2/12/2014) all my podcasts are showing they have downlaoded to my PC. They don't have the little cloud next to them. I sync my Ipod touch 5th gen. The sync shows everything was synced. I look at the "Whats on this ipod" tab and they are listed. But when I disconnect the ipod via the "eject" icon on the Ipod button in itunes and look at the podcasts they still show as not downloaded (greyed out and if wifi is turned on the little cloud is next to them ).
So whats going on? I had this issue with my ipod touch 4th gen as well and though it was because the podcast app stopped upgrading but the itunes on windwos did. But the syncing of the podcasts are even worse with the 5th gen then they were with the 4th gen.
I typically don't have wifi turned on since I want to sync the ipod via itunes. So I have a central place to keep the old podcasts without having to take space on the ipod itself. I saw some references to the downloading of podacasts are done only via wifi, but that just didn't make sense. Why be able to sync Itunes if they are just going to turn around and make you do the same on the device?
    Any ideas? Suggestions?
Thanks for the help in advance.

  • My iPod touch 5g is not syncing, opening in iTunes, charging, or showing up under Device Manager

My USB connectors are working--my brother's 4g iPod Touch could charge fine on my PC.
THis iPod is relatively new--August of 2013--and I have not had trouble with it before.
I guess it started when my iPod ran completely out of power, as it sometimes does. However, this time it would not charge right away and showed the "Low Battery" screen (The charge bar with the little bit of 20% red charge, with a symbol of a USB charger and a lightning symbol underneath).
It wouldn't charge, sync, or connect to my PC, so I left it in the wall overnight. In the morning it was fully charged--I think it is only able to charge in sleep mode. When plugged in via USB cord to the wall or computer, the little lightning sign, symbolizing that it is charging, does not appear.
When plugged into my PC, under MY COMPUTER, instead of reading "Apple iPod," there was some USB link, including "F://".
Upon clicking it it read : F:// refers to a location that is unavailable. It could be on a hard drive on this computer, or on a network. Check to make sure that the disk is properly inserted, or that you are connected to the internet or your network, and then try again. If it still cannot be located, the information might have been moved to a different location. I stupidly DELETED this file and emptied my Recycling Bin. I cannot find my Apple iPod in Device Manager or anywhere. Please Help! I need to charge my iPod. Can I somehow restore my iPod without iTunes?
I will do this if I have to,but I would rather not have to reinstall all my apps, contacts, etc.
I have tried uninstalling (by going into Control Panel and one-by-one completely deleting everything Apple-related, including iCloud and Safari), then reinstalling iTunes; resetting my iPod; restarting my computer. Both my iTUnes and iPod are updated to the most current version. Do I need a new battery?

  • IPod Touch 4g won't charge and play at the same time

I used to have a 4g Nano that I would play in my car through an aux cable and charge through a cigarette lighter charger. I just got a 4th gen iPod Touch and it no longer lets me charge and play at the same time. If both wires are connected it will only charge and not play, once I pull the charger part out it will play through the speakers. Is there a fix to this? Do I need a different charger so that it won't think it's simply docked?

You would need to turn off hard drive mode via iTunes iPod settings on your home system to do this. I don't know if you have this mode on or off already. I thought I read that there is a way to enable/disable hard drive mode via the iPod buttons but I don't remember how.
    Thanks,
    Steven

  • My daughter's ipod touch got hot while charging and will no longer turn on.

My daugther's ipod touch got hot and will no longer turn on.  Is there a solution to this problem or is the ipod fried?

I'm not sure if it's fried or not, but try rebooting the device by pressing and holding the on/off and home buttons simultaneously for about 15 seconds or so. Hopefully you will see the Apple logo.

  • IPod Touch 1st Generation stopped charging and sync.

Hi, I have an iPod Touch 1st Generation that I bought in november 2007(just when it came to the stores) and now, 4 years lates it started to present some problems, first, it stoped to sync with the iTunes, then my computer(mac and PC) stoped reconizing it and now it stoped to charge, as in computer as in the wall. I don't know if it's important but I tryed to install Installer (the old and hacker store with some poor apps) but I coudn't, and an weird app called Zibri's Blog is in it and I can't erase... I can't restart my iPod... actually I can't do ANYTHING! And I love my iPod, I don't want to buy another one now... Is there ANY kind of solution or someone else have ever saw something like this? • My Ipod touch (4th gen) wont charge, but it will sync, and when I look at itunes the charging icon is there

It wont charge but it is syncing, I recently updated Itunes, and the charging icon shows up on iTunes

Did you try another USB port or the wall adapter, or another USB cable?
Also see if a reset may help. To reset the iPod hold the sleep and home button for about 10 sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose data doing a reset.

  • My ipod touch 5g will not sync in itunes 11.0.5. And I'm afraid to restart my ipod, because it always gets stuck in a recovery loop. I have the latest version of iTunes, but nothing has changed. What should I do? FRUSTRATED...

Also, if there happened to be a new update for iTunes it would sync after the update is completed, but once I turn my Macbook off and try to sync it afterwards IT WILL NOT WORK. It refuses too, and I'd hate to wait for a new iTunes update just to sync my ipod. So if there's anyone who's knowledgable in regards to this type of situation...PLEASE HELP!!!

    Hi Catherine,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities!
There are several ways to get music on your iPod, you'll have to enable the Manually manage music and videos to drag and drop. The article below provides more information and will walk you through the process.

  • My iPod touch 4g will not sync for anything!

I got my iTouch this January and have had horrible problems with it since about a month after I got it.
The first problem I had was that certain songs go silent partway through, but the sound starts again about 30 seconds later. It always happens at the same time in the same songs. I could fix it by removing the songs from my iPod and then re-syncing them, but it would keep popping up and was really annoying. Songs that I've never had a problem with before will all of a sudden skip. Because some of my friends have had the same issue, I didn't think it was worth calling Apple.
Shortly after, I started getting an error message each time I opened iTunes. It says "iTunes was unable to collect data class information from Sync Services." I looked this up online and tried syncing the iPod on a different USB port as well as on a powered USB add-on. Nothing helped. It didn't seem to affect my iPod at all, so I didn't worry too much about it.
About a week ago, I got back from a trip and plugged my iPod in to charge while I went to sleep. When I unplugged it in the morning, it had a full charge, but said that there was no music on the iPod. iTunes said that there was music on the iPod. I tried to sync it multiple times, but I would get different error messages that said that the iPod could not be synced. Because it had helped me before with other iPods, I tried to restore my iPod. It partially restored it, but then I got an error message saying that it could not be restored. I tried to restore it multiple times and got different error messages. I reinstalled iTunes twice, but it didn't help.
At this point, I got really frustrated and called Apple. They were helpful and said that, since I'd already been through all the troubleshooting, I could just send in my iPod for free at a UPS store. I was under the impression that I would get a new or refurbished iPod from the same generation as mine. I got my same iPod back two days later with a note that said there was no issue with my iPod. They had finished restoring it, and didn't charge me (thank God!).
Feeling hopeful, I plugged it in to iTunes and got my regular error message (iTunes was unable to collect data class information from sync services). When it tried to sync, I got an error message again. It seemed like the iPod would randomly quit syncing and go to the home screen in the middle of a sync, since the error message was sometimes that the iPod was disconnected. Sometimes after an error message, iTunes would freeze up, so I used ctrl+alt+del to shut it down from the Task Manager. Next I tried syncing the iPod to my dad's iTunes on a different user, but I got the same error messages. I tried syncing with no music, and it worked. I tried syncing with apps and without music, but none of the apps would sync. I also tried syncing music without apps, but got the same error messages as before. I went online and read some forums, and discovered that when iTunes is in use, the iPod does not show up in My Computer. I have no idea what to do next.
As a 15 year old, I have no money and my parents aren't exactly excited to buy me a new iPod or any expensive Apple accessories. I spent all my Christmas money on this iPod, and have spent hundreds in iTunes, so I feel entitled to my $250 worth (I only got 8 gigs), as well as the over $600 of allowance I've been spending in iTunes since the iPod Mini I got in the 4th grade. Come on, I haven't even had it for 7 months yet!
    Also:
I'm running 64-bit Windows 7. (I downloaded iTunes in 64 bit, but in the Task Manager, it says iTunes.exe *32)
My dad and I both also have iPod Nano 3gs, and neither get error messages or syncing problems at all.
My iPod is not jailbroken. I don't get illegal music, only iTunes.
The screen isn't broken. It has no scratches on it since I keep it in a case.
Nothing has ever spilled on it, and I'm sure of this because the water indicators are still white.
I know this is really long, but I didn't want to leave out any details that could be important. I think it also demonstrates the extensive amount of problems I've had. If anyone else has had any problems like this, please comment. I'm willing to try anything at this point.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Or since you did not say the current status of the iPod
    Try:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

  • IPod Touch 5g Will Not Sync To Computer

Basically, when I plug my iPod into the computer with iTunes open, iTunes tells me that something is going wrong with some sort of syncing download thing or something. (I'd love to get the error message, but that would mean doing this all over again for the fourth time...)
After I click OK, it starts to sync, but never even finishes initializing step 2 of syncing. My iTunes is updated to the latest version (I believe - I updated it today) and my iPod is still at iOS 6. (Wanting to sync so I can update...)
Any help would be great, thanks.
