Ipod touch 5g taking a long time to restore from backup

I have recently used find my iphone to erase my iPod Touch 5th  Generation and have made a very recent backup of this device. I have plugged the device into itunes and clicked restore from backup (Windows Vista Home Basic 32 bit). It proceeded in restoring my iPod to the backup and the estimated time had gone up to nearly 8 hours. The status bar is gradually moved up, but what can I do to make it faster as I have waited nearly 6 hours for this and it is ver stressful =(
P.S I am currently using an iPod Touch 5th Generation running the latest version of iOS 7 of iOS 7.1.2

Thanks for your reply. My iPod Touch has finished its restore, yet not all the apps were installed onto the iPod. This is not a problem because most of my apps I did not want/need. My photos and music was installed/synced as well. It took a very long time for this process to happen. Thank You for your support. How can I award you points?

  • Brbackup is taking very long time to complete the backup

    Hi
Our brbackup was working okay but recently we added  more filesystem and after that  brbackup is very slow.
    We have AIX 7.1

Any idea what went wrong here?

    Hi
    What is your RDBMS ?
What do you mean by "added new FS" ?
You did add datafiles or just some extra FS with no DB in it ?
What is your backup target, disk, tape... ?
Have you checked Brbackup log, it provides time information and you can compare with older logs to see where the time increase is coming from

  • Lync 2013 Client takes a long time to "restore" from taskbar

On many Windows 8 & 8.1 systems in our environment the Lync client will take anywhere from 2-10 seconds to pop up when clicked on in the taskbar.  The application is running, logged in, and active.  This is very frustrating to our userbase
as they will click on it multiple times and have it then act like a jackrabbit when it finally processes the requested actions.
The computers we have are brand new systems.  Happens on freshly installed & updated versions of Lync 2013.  Seems to be after the Lync client hasn't been clicked on, or utilized in a while.  Other applications pop up instantly (zero delay)
and without any problems, it only affects Lync.  I tried disabling UI animations such as fade, slide etc, which did nothing to help the issue.
This has me a bit stumped, and I'm wondering if this is a known issue or not?  Hopefully there is a solution?

I wouldn't say it's dismissive, I was asking for more information.  I wanted to know if it was potentially an overactive endpoint protection application or something similar, if it can't be reproduced on fresh build of Windows then something is interfering
and it's difficult to work out not knowing what all is installed.  Most people don't experience the issue so I imagine another piece of software may likely be conflicting.
I do agree that it's not an answer, at the least not very useful answer.  Occasionally items get marked as answer but they're more of a "closed" as the original poster never responds.
I'd suggest posting your issue in the Lync 2013 forums instead as people are less likely to watch this post now that it's already marked "answered".  Work through it and see what can be found, hopefully you'll find some good information which will be
    more helpful to others.

I am just curious as to why this is, and what I might do to fix it.  I did see one suggestion in another website suggesting diabling spolight indexing of the backup image with sudo mdutil -i off /Volumes/Time Machine Backups, but don't know where to type that in.  It then states to reenable it, but don't know where to type that in, either.  Any advice would be helpful.  I did run a verification not too long ago, and here's that code.

If any of you have or had a similar problem, I'd appreciate your help.  For the time being, I may just disable time machine during the evening, and only have it run during the day when I'm at work.

Is your sig still current (10.7.3)? Or did you update to 10.7.5? Because 10.7.5 had a Spotlight/Time Machine bug that slowed down a lot of backups. If that's what it is, there's now a 10.7.5 Supplemental Update that fixes the slow Time Machine problem.
If it isn't 10.7.5, I don't know what the problem might be.

  • Time machine taking a LONG time

I have a IMac with OS Mountain Lion, and I backup automatically through Time Machine to a My Book.  Ever since I updated the OS the backups are taking a long time.  The initial backup after updating the OS took 3 1/2 days.  It did finally end and then they seemed to be taking the "normal" amount of time, minutes versus hours or days.  The last backup has been running since last Thursday night, and today is Tuesday.  It is showing "backing up 3.21GB of 3.53 GB".  I have been writing down where it is at before going to bed and last night it was 3.20 GB of 3.53 GB.  At 1 GB per day I have about 22 days left.  That seems a bit strange.  This last backup had been taking a long time and I've stopped it once and restarted.    Is this a current issue with the latest OS?  Any suggestions?

Ok, I was trying to check something else and accidentally stopped the backup that had been running from last Thursday.   I restarted my computer and began another backup.  It is running now and here are the messages from the "console" from when I began the back up.  It is still running.  It started at 213.1 mb of 1.68 gb and has gone up to  11.91 gb of 13.10 gb.

  • Ipod 5th gen taking long to restore from backup on itunes

I recently got an ipod 5th gen. I backed up my ipod 4th gen to my computer on itunes so i could use that backup on my ipod 5. when i did this it did not download my music or some of my apps. i put my ipod 5 in recovery mode so i can start the back up all over again but it is taking forever for it to restore from backup!! the time remaining says 7 hours then it changes to 8 or even 11 hours. does anyone have any idea what the problem is and what i can do to fix it?

    Terminate the process.
    Reboot the computer
Try again. you may have to place the iOS device in Recovery Mode to allow the restore

  • My iPod touch is older and asking to be restored but this means wiping everyhting off of it and I want to save things. What can I do?

    Someone help please!

Your iPod encountered an erro has has to be restored, which erases the iPod. That is how it works.
    Restore from backup
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • I am planning a long vacation and taking my laptop but it is my home computer that my new ipad and ipod touch are synced too. I know i can backup to the cloud over wifi but how can i do things like delete photo albums

I am planning a long vacation and taking my laptop but it is my home computer that my new ipad and ipod touch are synced too. I know i can backup to the cloud over wifi but how can i do things like delete photo albums instead of having to manually delete pictures one by one on the Ipad. Is there any way also to add my pictures to the ipad other than through email. i am assuming that i can't just install itunes on the laptop and sync to that. I have been told that i always have to sync to my original synced home computer for that.

  • 1st gen iPod Touch, old app no longer runs

I have a first generation iPod Touch, version 3.1.3.  About a year ago I bought an app, "Converter Plus (Universal)", and it worked fine until recently when I received notice of an update.  There were a few app updates and all loaded successfully except the Converter Plus (Universal) which gave me an error message that the software I have does not support the updated app.  I understand and accept that my old iPod Touch does not support most (almost all) new apps.  The problem, however, is that the old Converter Plus (Universal) app that worked fine for a year no longer runs.  I try to open it, the initial screen pops up but shuts down right away.  I can only assume that when the recent update was attempted but failed it somehow messed up the old app.  Is there any way to restore the old version of the app so I can go back to using it?  The app only cost $1.99 so it is hardly the end of the world if I cannot use it any more, but I am worried all my other older apps (some of which receive regular updates) might also stop working and that just seems wrong to me.  Feels like I am being robbed.  Thanks for any suggestions.

    Try:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Try deleting the version of that app that is in your iTunes library. Then do the following:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
Then delete the app from your iPod and sync the app back to your iPod and see if it works.
    - Next try restoring from backup. Make sure that all the apps that are compatible with 3.1.3 are in your iTunes library so they can be synced back as part of the restore from backup.
    - Last, restore to factory settings/new iPod and sync your media to the iPod.

  • TS1591 my ipod touch 2g is no longer being recognized by itunes why and what can i do i have reset it and everything

my ipod touch 2g is no longer being recognized by itunes why and what can i do i have reset it and everything

If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • IPod Touch 4th Gen No Longer Connects to WiFi

Tonight I've been watching videos via the new Youtube app (from the appstore, since the one that comes with iPod is no longer available). I was watching a Youtube video when the battery on my iPod touch ran out. I connected the charger, the iPod turned on, and it suddenly won't connect to my WiFi anymore. I have other devices that connect to the WiFi with no issues. What happens is I go to my WiFi settings, and select my router as the access point, and a rotating loading icon appears next to my access point's name, 'belkin54g'. But the loading icon never goes away, and as a result doesn't connect to WiFi. I recently upgraded to iOS 6 if that helps. This WiFi connection has always worked fine on this iPod touch, so I have no idea as to why it decided to crap out on me.

Does the iOS device connect to other networks?
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • My Ipod Touch 5 got a long red line all of the sudden on the screen and i do not know why

    Hello,
So i have purchased my Ipod Touch 5 through apple. The thing is, i do not know why a red long line appeared on my screen all of the sudden. It has not fallen at all so i was just wondering if there is the possibility of sending my ipod into apple and getting another one since i have warranty.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

  • My computer broke and I lost my ipod touch at the same time. Then I put all of my new music on my nano. Then I found my ipod touch. How do I get the music from the ipod touch to the computer and also keep the music I bought for the nano?

I have an ipod touch and an ipod nano. I also used to have a laptop but, it quit working and I no longer have it. I had all of my music on my laptop. So, I had to buy a new desktop. I lost my ipod touch at around the same time. I had all of my music on the ipod touch that was from my laptop. So in thye meantime I started using my nano more. I bought new songs on my desktop for my nano. Then I found my ipod touch. I would like to be able to keep both the somgs I have now on my ipod touch and the ones that I already bought on the desktop. What do I do?

    No.
All iTunes content on your iPod Touch should be in your iTunes library on your computer, and your iTunes library on your computer should be included with your computer's backup along with all other important data - stored on an external drive or some other external media used for backup purposes only.
When music was purchased on a CD, if the CD was lost and you returned to the store where the CD was purchased with your receipt, were you given a replacement CD?
    The same applies here.
